Not only do they put on the BEST haunted attractions, but they also create an unforgettable experience every single year. This year's haunt at the prison was absolutely incredible, the entire team did amazing! I want to give a special shoutout to these incredible people who pour their hearts and souls into this place: Kat, Tiara, Kyler, Charlie, Angela, and Matthew. Each one of them deserves recognition: * Kat - An absolute sweetheart and phenomenal actress who always goes above and beyond. * Tiara - An amazing director who ensures everything runs smoothly and perfectly. * Charlie - Both a talented cast member and security pro. Thoughtful, friendly, and one of the best sliders I've seen! * Kyler - Such a kind guy and great actor who made sure I had a great time from start to finish. * Angela - Incredible actress with an unforgettable scary voice--she gives her all every night. * Matthew - A brilliant makeup artist and true people-person who put so much time and effort into making this haunt look phenomenal. And of course, Holly, who leads this amazing team, she's doing something truly special. All together, this crew is freaking amazing and ensures every single visitor gets an experience worth remembering. Honestly, I'd say the quality is on par with, if not better than, Halloween Horror Nights.

My wife and I have been wanting to try out Slaughter House ever since moving to the area but for…read moreone reason or the other, it just never worked out. Finally, this last Halloween, we were able to make it work. Slaughter House is held at Greater Nevada Field, which is where the Reno Ace's play. They offer the usual Haunted House experience and a Haunted Train attraction (more on that later). Considering if you purchased both attractions together (and getting access to the faster line) it would be cheaper, we decided to go that route. Afterwards, we wish we just went with the Haunted House. We waited in line for around 30 minutes before getting into the House and all in all, it was alright. Sure, it had moments that made me jump and even freaked me out a bit, but all told it just wasn't that great. There's one portion of the House where you're forced to walk through a ball pit that features a "scary" Clown to add to the discomfort. Normally, there would be nothing wrong with that. But, what is wrong with it is my wife has a very bad ankle and it could be rolled very easily. There was no warning at all about having to walk through a ball pit where rolling your ankle wouldn't be too difficult. So considering I was highly annoyed by this and focused on making sure my Wife didn't get hurt, it took any and all "scare" out of this portion. To his credit, the actor playing the Clown picked up on this and backed off. That was cool of him. As soon as it started, it ended. I felt like there was no grand finale or anything like that, you just suddenly left the maze and that was that. Pretty flat if you ask me. Oh, and the first thing they do upon entering the Haunted House is take your picture along side a creepy actor. It's your usual tourist trap type thing with them pitching you to purchase said picture at the end. Full transparency though, I bought it. Lol. It actually turned out to be a good photo of me and there aren't very many of those. Lol. Now here's the portion of the review where things really take a turn for the worst. The Haunted Train. It was probably the saddest thing I've ever experienced. The train carts are stupid small and cramped (it became apparent to me at this point that kids were the primary target audience for this), they played music by the band "Disturbed" (probably its only redeeming quality), and they attempted to scare you while you passed by Coke a Cola and Hot Dog vendor carts. Super scary. They didn't even TRY to cover these. I was able to spot the scare actors coming a mile away. It just flat out sucked, ok? The little kids on the ride weren't even scared. They either need to completely revamp this or scrap it all together. Seriously bad. Don't bother wasting your hard earned money on this. So the reason for the 2 stars is the fact that the Haunted House (the main attraction) was just ok and had a flat ending, the Train ride sucked, and the fact that a female Security Guard (at the main line entrance) could be heard by all of us in line talking a whole mess of sh*t about customers. Now, I used to work in Customer Service and I hated every minute of it, so I completely understand how stupid and rude the general public can be. However, you NEVER talk about customers RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. That's just asinine even to me. If you hate it, then do what I did. Go get a job where you don't have to deal with them. Problem solved. Also, all told, we spent north of $50 for the attractions and I'm sorry but for what you get, that's too much. It just wasn't worth the cost. So all told, there's a good chance that this was our first and final visit unless they make some big changes. We're more than likely going to opt to do something in Virginia City for Halloween this year. Then one upside to all this? Parking was free in the garage across the street. So there's that.

We did point out that the location on the ticket was not the correct address per their website. Hopefully they remedied this so others aren't wandering aimlessly in the neighborhood. I believe the two addresses were 875 and 865 Deming with 865 being correct. The staff were very nice and accommodating. We had a good chat with them while we waited. The scare actors did a good job of being creepy and scary. I believe their site says not recommended for under 8, please adhere to this. There was a parent with two children who were younger and certainly did not enjoy the experience. Poor children might be scarred for life. The labyrinth style haunted house had good scares and creepy thrills. Certainly don't way to give anything away, but I can say we enjoyed it even with the minor hiccups and delayed start. I could tell they put a lot of work into this haunted house. Also, the Final Hour sign looks very cool and is a newer piece we were told.

The animal area has been cleaned up and there are tons of working sinks to wash hands. You can purchase animal food, pony rides, and bottles to feed the animals. I was surprised to see how they pushed the entrance area past the barn, but totally makes sense for those who may want to just stop by to shop and not want to enjoy the festivities. The staff were all friendly and kept up with keeping the animal pens clear of poop, especially for the petting ones. They had signage to designate which ones you could feed the animal food to and which ones you couldn't enter due to the animals resting. I really liked how they sectioned off all the animals off to the left side with its own entrance and exit and lots of sanitizing and handwashing stations nearby. They had some new things at the farm too. I saw signage advertising Cuddling with Calves for $20 (kids 8+). They also had some additional calves to see and pet along the way. So adorable! Outside of the animal area, they had a new section, Peacock Pedalers, that allowed kids and adults to ride tricycles around. They also had refreshment stations within the farm for drinks, kettlecorn, and other snacks, which made it convenient. What surprised me was that the features that were typically busy on our past visits, like the mini zip lines and the barrel ride, were very little to no waits. They offered lots of seating for taking a break and grabbing some food from the three food trucks they offered. The pulled pork nachos were yummy! It was a great deal to spend the day at the farm for $20 tickets. Yes, they offered lots of additions like the animal feed, train tickets, and gem sluicing for a price but not really necessary to have a great experience. The baby chicks and goats were the highlight of our visit. My daughter wants to go back next weekend!

I saw that they were advertising this show...and I like a good magic show. It did not disappoint. The sleight of hand and on-stage demonstrations were incredible. I was still banging my head of how they did it or maybe it was the cocktail at the bar that was playing tricks on my mind. As a guest of the hotel, I had a 20% coupon and promptly used it at the ticket office, though I think I should have picked my seat better. Nonetheless, I was in the second row and I was able to get a good look of the magic up close. If you arrive early, you can hang out for Happy Hour, they had some unique drinks including the local standby beers and cocktails...and mocktails for those attending the all-ages show. I recommend seeing this show on a Friday or Saturday night if you want a bit more rambunctious, racy show.

After happy hour ended a bud light and high noon was $18. I can't believe they turned the old movie theater into a magic show theater. I sat there thinking about all the movies I saw at the Hotel and the first time I had a drink in a movie theater so long ago, 1989. It was fun in the bar prior to the doors opening they have a magical experience for adults and kids to set the mood for the evening. Tracy the bartender was awesome! She also works at Blitz during the day. She has the kindest soul and such a people person! It was like I had known her for years. They have a box office where you can purchase tickets. Very hard to hear the gal! They definitely need a microphone to speak to each other. If you think you're going to save a few extra dollars on those service fees - you may have to think twice, just purchase on line. It's much easier. Also, they have a snack bar with fresh popped popcorn $9 -$13 and huge pretzels $14. Chase Hasty and his wife have traveled around the world to over 25 countries sharing their magical talent and ballet dancing skills. My favorite part of the show was when Chase brought out a locked box and Hoisted the box with a rope up to the ceiling and told this guy to watch the box. Later in the show they opened the box, it was a pretty impressive trick!!! One not to be forgotten!! It's a small production but well thought out with couple extra dancers and costumes changes. I love that Chase, picks people out of the audience to help with the show. Maddox was a return kid that had been practicing his magic and Chase let him perform in front of the audience and what is that called "That's Magic!!!" It's nice the performers will met you afterwards in the hallway to have pictures and ask questions. It's a great family night or you can come to the later show at 9pm for a little more risky nocturnal show. I'll have to save that one for another time!
