Great new place in Auburn! Lots of turnover in this building--makes me worried even though this place seems amazing. The food looked delicious. Inside is great, you open a tab and get a card to swipe to try different beers. Selection looked great and the workers were very nice! You order food online at your table and they bring it to you. I'll definitely be back!

AMAZINGGGGGGGG. we came in later and ate at home. cleaned the plate, i loved the blt and my bf had a burger. the fries is 10/10 perfect crispy and also just the right amount of softness on the inside. as for the person who took our order he gave us a great introduction and the place was so clean :)

Great vibe here. Something for everyone. We tried the grilled cheese dippers, jalapeño tater kegs, pretzel bites and chicken tenders. All were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. A kids menu is also available. There are games you can bring to your table to play with your group, which we found to be a lot of fun. The self pour system was a great break from the norm, as you weren't standing at a bar waiting your turn to catch a bartender's attention just to quench your thirst. Music was loud enough to hear but not so loud that you couldn't talk to others. We had an awesome time and will be back. For sure! Auburn needed this. Well done.

We got the pretzel bites with beer cheese (some of the best beer cheese I've ever had!) to share.

I started off with the Moon Over Madagascar, and let me tell you--if this drink had a fan club, I'd be president. The black tea and vanilla combo sounded like a weird dare at first, but it ended up being shockingly amazing. Whoever came up with that mix deserves a bonus and maybe a parade. Now, let's talk about the shrimp and grits, because these were not just "good." These were "call your mama and tell her you've tasted greatness" good. The chef is from South Carolina, and you can taste every bit of Lowcountry pride in that bowl. Perfectly cooked grits? Check. Pile of blackened shrimp? Double check. A sauce that made me rethink my entire life? Oh yeah. If they sold that sauce by the gallon, I'd be bankrupt but extremely happy. Erica, our waitress, was an absolute rockstar. Super helpful, incredibly informative, and somehow managed to keep the perfect balance of friendly and professional--even on the Sunday after the Iron Bowl, when half of Auburn is stress-eating. The place was spotless too, which is impressive considering the emotional damage that game causes every year. Bottom line: The Hound is a must-visit. Come hungry, order boldly, and thank me later.

I was originally going to say that nostalgia should take you back to your youth without having to deal with the youth that are now frequenting this college watering hole. But I decided when it comes to 17-16, I can't find anything else wrong with it besides having to deal with college students. But you know what, when you have a great "college bar", you really shouldn't expect anything different. Therefore I will let nostalgia from the bar I loved in college negate any of those negative thoughts. Although, I'm sure our group stuck out like the old alums that still hit the bars when they are in town. What makes this bar a great college bar? First of all, the bar runs on both sides and there are always plenty of bartenders. Making it very easy to get a drink. Not to mention college town prices are AMAZING. Also because of this wrap around bar concept, it keeps people flowing in a "lap walking" form. So even though it gets crowded, it doesn't feel that claustrophobic. There is also an outside area in the back. So if you want to get out of the crowded bar, this is usually pretty wide open. Would I frequent 17-16 if it were in my hometown? Probably not. But when I do my once in a blue moon visits and know what I'm getting in to, I can't think of another late night bar in the loveliest village on the plains.

Fried green tomatoes- wasn't the biggest fan of pimento cheese, but if that's your thing I'm sure it would have been delicious. I had the strawberry / spinach salad. It was decent but a little too much dressing on parts and a bit dry in others. The biscuits were a star of the other meal. Sadly, no lattes... the only other bummer was that the waiter forgot my cocktail. He apologized when I asked for it... I know accidents happen

I believe it effected some of the flavors of foods that were boiled in it, too. Gnocchi had some of the same off flavor. In addition, some of the flavors just feel way out of whack for totally unrelated reasons. Sauce that the duck came in was thin and overwhelmed by honey. The risotto it was served with seems like it should be rich and homey. But despite a crazy amount of added dairy still tasted thin and flat. Can't tell you why. Wonky seasoning? None of the dishes reflected any familiarity with acid to lighten or balance a dish. Fried green tomatoes were pretty mid despite a quality remoulade and a bunch of pimento cheese. Ingredients seem like they're decent quality. Desserts are legitimately top notch. Everyone recommends the peanut butter pie. And it is excellent, though pretty obviously not long out of the freezer. The affogato Is legitimately fantastic. And I'm not even talking about the pageantry of dumping the espresso on the salt ice cream. The combo is legitimately satisfying, like a well-rounded creamy candy. The plates are funky and cool and beautiful. The staff all seem like they're 19, attractive, and gregarious.
