The club is private and members are from all over the states and the U.K. 6,960 yards f from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 74.5 and it has a slope rating of 138 on Bermuda grass. Designed by Tom Watson. I did cut and paste that info, but it really is an amazing links course. First hole is straight forward par four, but after hitting your second shot on @2, a great par 5 with a great risk / reward second shot, the course really begins to show its character. I may get my hole numbers confused, hole 4 gives you two fairways, but they assign 1 a day to play, 7 is a 100 yard, completely blind par 3, I have hit lob wedge and 8 iton into. 11-12-12 all spectacular,16 is the Turnberry hole, which is the signature hole, 17 is super risky, how much marsh are you willing to cut? The course is just immaculate, I saw a grounds crew member cutting grass around the sprinkler heads with scissors! Enough can not be said about Cassique (the chief of the Kiawah Indian tribe) I will add to this review.

The grass is cut so well, every ball on the fairways looks to be sitting upon a pool table, you can see the entire ball. The backside of The River stating with 16, a spectacular par 5 to another beauty the par 3 17th, hitting a small quick green, with the intercoastal water way as the back drop. This is a great golf course that is hard! $600.00 per player is a LOT of money for a round of golf. Is it worth it? YES! The best way to play this course is with a caddie. It should be walked from tee to green, not from the sand cart path. There isn't a throw away hole out of the 18 holes. There isn't any out of bounds! Hit it. Find it. Hit it again. This place is just awesome. Lastly, it is one of the finest locations to have a beverage after your round so you can look out at the Atlantic Ocean.

We played two rounds here during our trip and the conditions, clubhouse and the caddies were first class. Despite the high slope rating and reputation for difficulty I found the course to be pretty playable. Most of the trouble comes into play in windy conditions and we were fortunate that the wind was somewhat benign, at least for about half the round. Good caddies helped us avoid getting into big trouble. Highly recommended, and would play again once I refill my bank account.

An overall good experience. Very small bag drop location. It's better to just pick-up your cart and retrieve your bag from your vehicle as they have a large parking lot. Check in was smooth and easy. Very pleased they offer a Veteran discount of $45.00 for 18 holes with a cart, otherwise its $105.00. They have a driving range but you're required to hit off mats. Very small practice putting area where balls are included. The carts have built in GPS, the tee boxes are well marked and maintained & they offer multiple tee options. All the fairways are fairly wide open, there is a fair amount of water with small creeks and steams coming into play. There are also small ponds on the front and back as you're playing along the Stono River with some nice views. All the greens were in great shape and fairly straight forward. This is a busy and popular place, even during the week, we were delayed about 30 minute off the first tee. Pace of play wasn't great either, so we played about a 5 hour round of 18. Sadly, there was no Marshal to maintain pace of play. The Staff at the clubhouse was great as was the Staff at the grill. I really like that they have the self-service hot dog station with all fresh condiments for an excellent all-beef hot dog. Several great holes on the back 9, especially #18, a par 4, which plays about 250 yards from Senior tees & requires a strategic drive to reach an island green. I would highly recommend this course but don't be on the clock.

All the other prestigious golf courses we have been to, will give you your own cart, (unless you know your partner). I'm high risk due to being pregnant, so neither of us felt comfortable riding with a stranger. We ended up walking the whole course because they said there wasn't enough carts. What kind of "luxury" golf course doesn't have enough carts? ! When we went to the golf shop at the end of the round to see what they could do. They apologized but said there was nothing they could do due to being "busy season." I'm only giving two stars because it is a beautiful course, but don't expect any professionalism or customer service.

I've played Legends a couple dozen times, giving it a 4 for golf, 2 for everything else (read…read morebelow). It's a pretty good course, usually in decent shape unless it's rained a lot. Worth the money if you're local, not worth it visiting (higher rate for out of towners). They tolerate visitors, but you won't feel like it's a resort course or country club because it isn't. It's a government operation, run by government workers, not a hospitality business. Do not, do not use parking office to gain access. If you love going to your local DMV and dealing with low level clerks who hate their job, you'll love the parking office. The gate inspection is relatively routine but varies depending on the person and takes time. The good news is there is plenty of great golf in the area and I've gotten to where I mostly play elsewhere.

Nice Par 3 holes (5 of them) with great variety is the highlight. That said it is a very nice little club but very crowded and guests must take one of their "Professional" caddies. Opened in 2000 as a private golf club with 18 challenging holes, Chechessee Creek Club also has a tasteful full-service Clubhouse, Lodge and several Cottages for relaxing between rounds or entertaining friends. I was immediately struck by the stately Lowcountry charm of the one-story Clubhouse replete with hard wood floors and tasteful oriental area rugs. The Clubhouse dining room has an intimate yet unpretentious ambience with top-tier Southern hospitality and genuinely friendly service. I immediately felt at home while respecting their long-standing traditions. Once on the golf course, with knowledgeable caddies guiding us through the contours of the greens, I quickly appreciated the beauty of this Coore-Crenshaw track. The fairways quietly wind through stately Southern pines and quintessential live oaks with picturesque Spanish moss. Chechessee's simple yet classy cream-colored scorecard calls out a 6,641 yard round trip from the championship tees while the member tees check in at 5,930. I found the small, crowned greens to be the biggest challenge of Chechessee. I can attest to the fact that failing to stick your ball on the green can easily result in a double bogey. Chechessee Creek Club represents an awesome private golf club experience in the heart of South Carolina's Lowcountry. I look forward to the next time I get invited to test my game at this challenging 5-star golf course.

I was there with a group of 6 others for a mini golf vacation. This is a Jack Nicklaus course well…read moredesigned with open fairways and challenging greens. It was unfortunate that it started raining during the round to the point where we could only get 9 holes in before they closed the course. We played from the silver tees and I still shot a decent score even with the inclement weather. Going through Golfscapes, they were able to get us a partial refund. I'd love to go back and finish sometime soon.
