Expect a day trip for 2 to be over $100 for tickets alone. Food and drink in the park is pricey, like you would expect for an amusement park. The great thing about Funtown is that you are fully able to bring in your own food. My family opted for the annual season pass, as we come multiple times a season. If you plan to attend more than once, I highly recommend going the pass route. It pays for itself after 2-3 trips. Does it need updating? Sure, but honestly, it's part of the charm. My family and I had a good ol' time at Funtown Splashtown USA when visiting Maine this summer…read more We've never visited this park, and now that our kiddos are taller and can ride all the rides, we thought we would give it a try. We went on a Wednesday at the end of June and it was not crowded at all. My kids had a blast! Right when the park opened we headed to Excalibur and rode it about 4 times to start off the morning. Everyone was so excited to ride it that many times. It's a wooden roller coaster that is a lot of fun. I highly recommend it. We hit all the Funtown rides multiple times. They loved the bumper cars, the vintage car track, the wild mouse, thunder falls log flume (which gets a little bumpy, but it cools you down on that drop), Atmosphere (which is an indoor Sizzler type ride with music and animations, that is the weirdest thing I think I've even seen in my life), and especially Whispering Pines Haunted Hotel. That last one is a dark ride where you have to save people from ghosts. You get a laser type gun to shoot at the targets and keep your score. I'm not sure how accurate they really were, but it was fun none the less. After a pretty "meh" lunch, we headed to the Splashtown area. They have a few water slides, a pool for the kids to swim in, and a little splash pad. The water slides were fun, until I bonked my head goind down Amphitrite's Challenge. You go down head first on a mat and for some reason on one of the turns my head didn't follow along. It hurt pretty bad, and I had one of the EMT's on staff help me out. He was very very nice and gave me an ice pack. I appreciated his kindness as I felt so silly after the event. Overall, we had a fun day exploring Funtown Splashtown USA. If you are looking for something to entertain the kiddos for the day, this is definitely a nice option.

Spoiler free review!…read more My 41st room, we definitely pulled a rabbit out of our hat to get out of this mindbender of a room. Fun physical props and an interesting theme made this room exciting for the time we spent solving and puzzling our way out. A few things that put us off right away though: youre only allowed one clue to make the leaderboard, and they frown upon solving puzzles without all the pieces, something that just kind of happens in other rooms if you've done a few in the past... Anyway, the room was very well put together theoretically. You walk in, are presented with some puzzles, and set on your way. Not unlike other rooms! A fun little experience gets you going, you have a laugh and start to jump into it all. We accidentially skipped a few puzzles- knowing they frowned on it, we stopped and tried to solve the others, but it did feel a bit like they were artificially inflating the difficulty by adding a bunch of puzzles that weren't needed. Some of the technology didn't function as planned (or at all)- some boxes were already open and others could have been avoided entirely if the room was configured slightly differently. A number of groups on the leaderboard touted times of 19-25min remaining, which makes sense thinking of the room now, with a little ingenuity and experience with their line of thinking, you too can nail those times! Worth a try for sure if you're in the area, but go a little farther north to experience the other rooms in the area first if it's your first time! GTFO is worth a visit for sure, but keep an open mind and have a good time. Our group left unsatisfied with our win, but it won't dissuade us from conquering another experience in the future!

Update: I love this…read morepark and I love that people bring there well behaved dogs here so they can walk and have fun. Just an FYI there is an overweight boomer woman who has a small white dog who was at the park yesterday giving people hell for having their dog off leash. She picked up her dog and as her dog was wagging its tail and clearly wanted to get down and play began, she began a slue of micro aggressions about how her dog was "reacting" and she was having "panic attack" lady, don't bring your dog here if you can't be around other dogs. Also, this park is only "on leash" for the first 100 feet and then dogs are allowed off leash. She is a miserable, mean and nasty boomer who needs to chill and stay away from Clifford park with that attitude. Her dog was cute though but I feel bad for it.

Payson Park is a pretty wonderful spot in Portland, and I think that's because it's really a locals…read morepark -- set near the residential area of Back Cove, it's a nearly 50 acre park. It has baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, a playground, the Longfellow Arboretum (which is near a tidal marsh, and apparently -- according to Wikipedia -- there are 40ish non-native tees there; honestly, I've never made it to that part of the park yet, but once spring is fully in bloom, I'll make it a point to wander down there), a community garden, and a storywalk. During the warmer weather, it's a great spot to picnic or do yoga; in the colder weather, it's got one of - if not THE - best sledding hills in the city. It also offers really spectacular views of Portland from the benches along Ocean Ave (year round, but even more so when the leaves are off the trees)!
