The service was lovely. The waitstaff were welcoming and made us feel welcome. The food was perfect. I got the burger and chips. The burger was delicious! The beef quality overseas is sublime! The chips were massive and delicious! Perfectly crisp with a fluffy interior. I also got the pot roast and accompaniments. It was lovely! When in Ireland, you must have a Guinness, I'm sure it's illegal not to! I definitely recommend checking out a pub while in Dublin.

The menu goes through changes on a regular basis so old favourites like the ten euro steak deal, lasagne and southern fried chicken have been replaced with more exotic options like falafel and seafood tagliatelle but you'll still find safe bets like burgers and meat and two veg on the updated menu. I've never had a bad meal here, but I couldn't rave about it either. It does the job to be sure, but it always feels a bit weird eating here as it's more of a late night venue with a young clientele, so as an "owl fogey" it's a spot I tend to avoid after a certain hour so I feel these negative connotations may have coloured my dining experiences slightly!

If you're staying in the Carnegie Court Hotel it's a nice option, and there's also the nightclub Velvet which is the underground part of the Carnegie Court Hotel so it's not too much of a stumble to get there after here! I wouldn't come here too often but whenever I do it's always a great laugh. There's also nearly always a queue of taxis waiting outside at the end of the night so that's really handy.

A bonus was the table full of what I would guess to be local musicians playing "traditional" Irish music, accordions, lots of guitar, a guy with 8-10 various flutes, tin whistles etc, another gentleman had various harmonica's, a drum (Bodhran) player and one of the guitar players had an Irish bouzouki - mandolin - lute kinda thingy that sounded beautiful. In all there were at various times from 9-12 players in all. The session was wonderful, playing the typical goodbye to love forever mixed with foot tapping let's be happy variety of tunes. Growing up listening to Irish music, I felt very much at home sitting there and it fit perfectly with the overall atmosphere of the pub, more like a gathering of friends not seen in a long time verses the euro-centric chic feeling of other places we happened across. If in Swords you could do a lot worse I'm sure, while not an expert on the Irish Pub scene, as I mentioned earlier this was an Irish American's mental image of of a night in Dublin.
