    The hearty tomato bisque!!
    Gerry L.

After our tour of the Dublin Castle we decided to have some lunch, my wife noticed a nice and traditional pub across the street. We walked in and were seated right away, and we ask for the specials and they told us about the sliders with chips (french fries) and a shrimp sandwich with their sweet brown bread. We all agreed to get the specials and then order two soups to help combat the cold weather a tomato bisque and clam chowder. The first thing to arrive were the soups and they were amazing and very filling. The tomato bisque had the right combination of texture and taste, I just kept on dunking the sweet bread to the warm soup. I tried my wife's clam chowder and it was the best I ever had, with large chunks of clams and the broth was well seasoned. The main entrees arrived and they did not disappoint, the sliders were delicious, the beef was well cooked and seasoned. My sandwich consisted of large portions of shrimp and the french fries were nice and crispy with the right amount of salt. The servers were the friendliest and the most patient we ran into during our trip. This was the perfect final meal of our 2017 Euro trip.

We were both very disappointed with the oak. I got the chicken and stuffing sandwich, my husband got the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, and they were the most crumbly breaded sandwiches we've ever had. Mine was totally greasy and I had to keep wiping my hands or I would have shattered my water glass. Our chips were completely soggy too. Would not recommend.

A elegant spot to have dinner and a few drinks. The restaurant is upscale and beautifully decorated. The food was wonderful. The bartender and the waitress was very helpful and nice. We loved this place!!!

The Shepard's pie is a MUST! The drinks are good and the service was pleasant and speedy. The lamb shank was so tender, it was falling off the bone. Another dish to try! The ambiance of the place was perfect with the dim lighting and the music wasn't too loud.

They have done a terrific job on improving the pub called Thomas Reads that was located here. It's decorated in shades of blue with plenty of marble and wood. The bar staff are knowledgeable and happy too suggest a drink. However it does get busy at particular times such as Friday evening after work. There is a very happy Polish waiter who is a bit outrageous but who is great fun. He is a great presence in the bar and very quick to serve everyone. The have a decent selection of gins and cocktails.

Sunk into a plush, deep blue velvet high stools on a busy Saturday afternoon outside, watching life zip by is a lovely, content feeling. Whomever is in control of the play list, well done. The music fits the vipe. The decor is a clash of deep ocean blues with bright smashes of gold framing important historical moments in Irish life. Most notably the rising. The decor creates a personal, time to forget about the world outside atmosphere. I don't see a TV, and I'm happy about that. This is a place to find, stay and chat with friends. I will be bringing my partner and friend's next time. The tap options are mainstream. Franciscan Well is a welcome addition. The rebel red is well worth a try. The ivy is a fitting replacement to Thomas Reid's.

Great lunch experience here today. Simple ham and cheese and chicken salad are both very good with a simple twist in flavor. We stopped in after some sightseeing and a little rain outside. Great ambiance inside with a great bar. Stop in and grab a pint.

Nice area , service was unbelievably slow even for Irelands relaxed lifestyle. I nearly voted with my wallet. Food was good but slowness killed the experience.

Good food and large selection of brews/drinks. Lovely and fun wait staff. Food was hot and served fairly timely. Not too loud.

We spent a couple hours here in the afternoon. It was not crowded and the interior was very pleasant. The sandwiches were quite good.

Foley's has two floors, the downstairs area offers live music but no real food menu so we headed upstairs. The place was crowded (later learned there was an American football game in town with 30,000 fans from Georgia Tech and Florida State; in future I would avoid visiting Dublin during this time!) Foley's offers typical pub food in a casual sports bar atmosphere. My chicken tenders were nicely spiced and meaty, although the accompanying fries were kind of bland. Fish and chips were good too. Service was slow but that's to be expected on a crowded evening. We were surprised to see the check in $USD (no choice of currency offered) rather than in Euros (the coin of the realm), with a 8.75% "exchange rate markup fee" tacked on to the total. We weren't given a choice of currency as stated on the bill (see picture). I've never seen this done elsewhere, seems like a petty way to make a bit of extra money from unsuspecting tourists. We were tired and the place was crowded so we paid and left without comment. But that unwarranted currency fee didn't leave a good taste in our mouths at all.

We arrived for lunch a little after opening on a Saturday. The place filled up quickly and was full before we left. This was also our first time having a meal with the Sweet Chili sauce, which we've both had on other foods before but something about the fried food in Ireland made the sauce that much tastier! We order boneless wings and pepperoni pizza. The Red Headed cocktail was amazing - earthy and a tad sweet. The restaurant overall has a snazzy feel, the bathrooms were by far the nicest I had seen this far and the staff was friendly.
