Storefront is cute and the waiting area was a plush nook with a mattress seating specifically made for them. Cute clothes, friendly staff. I can't believe I never knew about this little gem on York Blvd until now. What a find! It is across the street from Belle's, so you can recuperate from shopping with a nice nosh. The Plus Bus is stuffed with so many goodies it's hard to know where you start. Everything is well organized and pretty. So often plus size is sad. Not at Plus Bus. Everything was so pretty! A must! First and foremost, the clothes quality and variety is superb. From basics, to fun pieces, to gowns and then some. I was immediately greeted and shown around by one of their lovely and very stylish workers. I felt comfortable enough to ask her opinions and she also gave me some great recs. I was able to snag up an anthropology skirt (still with tags) and a few other items for the same amount that skirt alone would have cost. I loved it so much... I've never had an experience like I had at the Plus Bus! Being plus size it is often very hard to find clothes and places that carry our sizes in store. At the plus bus I was welcomed by Cassia, who was so helpful and attentive! She asked what occasion I was shopping for, showed me around and let me shop and simultaneously proceeded to pick out outfits for me! Everything was put in a cute dressing room and she encouraged me to try so many different and beautiful items that I usually would be to shy to wear or wouldn't pick out based on size. The plus bus is a place where you can sell exchange and purchase clothes so all the brands and sizes are different and may fit differently. I loved that I had so many options but I also wished some of the same things were available in a different size to fit me better. Overall I loved the clothes, style, sayings, and service! I was given water while I was trying on clothes, supplied tons of options, compliments, and they even kept the store open late just for me! I love the positive body talk & encouragement from Cassia & Emily! They invited us to events, had us make some TikTok's and even gave us an item in exchange for the content creation! I purchased so many cute things including accessories like glasses, a purse, cowboy hat earrings & magnets with the cutest sayings! I got a few beautiful dresses, shirts and a skirt! I *finally* made it to The Plus Bus Boutique as I live in the Bay Area, and it was such a wonderful and validating experience. I haven't shopped in person in a long time & Marcy fosters such a positive, warm, and safe space for plus size women to shop! Marcy was so welcoming, sweet, and attentive as she greeted us immediately & quickly started picking out options for me, my mom, and sister in law. There is a wide selection of sizes and many different and unique options in each size! I had the privilege of trying on clothes from Tess Holiday's closet, and ended up purchasing one of her beautiful dresses that Marcy picked out for me. I also found a truly one of a kind caftan that I will be wearing to Mardi Gras. Marcy was SO accommodating in regards to payment as the caftan was a little out of my price range; she completely understood & let me pay through Klarna so I could split up the payments . The lovely Tess Holiday dress was only $60 dollars...such a steal! ALSO! While I was trying on the clothes I started overheating and mentioned being sweaty to my Mom, and Marcy immediately comes and hands me a little hand held fan to cool off. I wanted to like this place. Appreciate the concept. Got offered $10 for dresses that were brand new and stylish. And name brand and current ( That they would surely sell for at least $30). Inventory honestly was slightly better than a thrift stores. It was either thrift store quality, fast fashion quality like Shein/fashion nova or Aimee obscure custom plus size "brand" that they were selling for about a hundo. But I saw some Shein dresses that retail about $30-$35 being sold here second hand for the same price. (Not even current season) Hmmmm. Yeah sorry you guys tried but nah. I first visited the Plus Bus some years ago when I was having a hard time finding some clothes for a special event. Staff were so nice, and the selection was great. I've now recently returned due to a very DIFFERENT kind of special event in my life. You see, I just lost my home, and EVERYTHING I owned in the fires. And while there are so many wonderful places offering clothes for victims of the fires, as a plus size person, I was finding almost nothing in my size. In comes Marcy and the Plus Bus. She's set up her gorgeous store as a free shop for those who've lost everything in the fires, and it was the most wonderful experience I've had in a while. I went in, and I was greeted and treated like a bona fide customer, getting to leisurely shop around, music playing over the speakers, staff and volunteers helping me pick out pieces and setting up a dressing room for me. As I tried on piece after piece, I not only felt great in items that suited my shape and style, but I started to feel myself again. I started to feel NORMAL again. I left with a bag full of clothes, and a smile on my face, which has been hard in these times. If you need help right now, don't feel bad, please, come treat yourself to a little slice of good in your life. And if you're not in need, then please, pay it forward.
