First let's start off with the parking, parking is so tight here and hard to find. I was lucky when I arrived that someone was leaving out of a parking space. There is a business next door but they have strict signs up that for state no parking for "the pod" only their business. Which is understandable. Once entering I was greeted promptly by a smiling male employee. He was super friendly, made me feel welcomed, it definitely made me feel that I was valued as a customer. Thank you young man! The inside is beautifully decorated, they have a variety of things for purchase also. It's so clean, super DOOPER clean!! The restroom is so clean also. The menu is not overwhelming which is good. Enough variety to please anyone. I ended up getting the chicken and gnocchi soup, homemade pimento cheese sandwich. The soup was the bomb, very chunky, carrots, celery, plenty of gnocchi, the chicken seemed grilled and it was a good amount of it. The pimento cheese sandwich was very good, very stout sharp cheese flavor, it's pretty strong, with lots of flavor. I got the bread toasted which is so good, try it. I did try a speciality coffee, Cupid Kiss, it has notes of white chocolate and raspberries. This combination is so yummy together. It was definitely awesome! They do have oak milk, which I prefer. Highly recommend this business keeping this as a routine on their menu. They do have a variety of pastries and other sweets if you would like to give them a try. They looked super yummy! I was full so no room for any sweets. I would definitely, highly recommend , you better stop in and give this place a try!!! You will not be disappointed!!!! Service is off the charts!!!! What an oasis! Did not expect such a beautiful cafe in this small town. Was so glad I took a slight detour and didn't settle for fast food coffee. Service was wonderful and they made the most amazing coconut and white chocolate specialty latte. Food options looked great but had no time to stop for a meal so just grabbed a strawberry/blueberry muffin which was yummy. read more

We stopped at the Pod a month ago on our way to NC and had a wonderful lunch, and so this past weekend we stopped by again on our way back to Maryland. I had the French Dip sandwich again because I remembered how much I enjoyed it the last time and was not disappointed. My wife had the Firecracker Chicken Sandwich and said it was one of the very best sandwiches that she has ever had. If you are traveling on US Route 29 through Virginia, don't miss this gem in the small town of Gretna. Make a point to stop by, and you won't be disappointed. read more

Took a detour off the main roads to find lunch on our road trip. We don't eat at fast food places, preferring instead to dine at local restaurants in little towns. The Pod was an awesome cafe with great food and a cute vibe. We both got half sandwiches with chips. I got the Monte Cristo that was just yummy! Hubs got the Turkey Club grilled. He liked it so much he wished he had ordered a whole. Nice selection of sammys and great and fast service. So glad we made the stop! read more

Hands down the best lunch spot in Gretna. High quality ingredients, friendly staff, and quaint café style dining room which opens to high end gift shop called Sweet Pea. I ate here multiple times in my week in Gretna, and tried both the sandwiches and salads. The whole portion for the salads are generous, with two large dressings. The Caesar is a clear favorite but also the Harvest was good hit a touch sweet. On the second visit I had the French dip, which was perfect! The a jus was not too salty, and the bread was very fresh. I opted to sub the chips for a fruit cup which was strawberries and blueberries. Fresh and sweeten they were perfect. Both visits I purchase a French vanilla ice latte with whole milk, both consistently delicious. All baked goods are made in house so we spilt the Apple Danish with free whip cream. It was served warm and bought to the table mid way thru which was a nice touch. I could probably spend an easy $50 here every visit just trying all they have to offer, and it's well worth it. After eating we ventured next door to check out the cute shop. I also noticed a wine room, and locally sourced honey and coffee for sale. The fresh squeezed lemonade is also to note, they offered a to go cup and free refills, for $2 that's a steal! read more

I had been wanting to try this place for several months, and the opportunity finally presented itself! I had the nut and berry salad with balsamic vinaigrette, and it was fresh and tasty. The greens were crisp and there were no fillers like iceberg lettuce. The fruit was fresh and tasty, and the nuts were proportioned perfectly! For dessert, I had the butter pecan cupcake, and wowza! Sandwich Shop...Coffee...Local Folks Found this lil gem about two years ago. Choices are fresh and well prepared portions. The food has always been delicious, wether in house or to go. The staff are always courteous and willing to assist. Its really nice to walk into a business and be recognized. (am not a daily or weekly customer, just a regular) My menu food favorite would be the Monte Cristo. A bit pricy for 2, but the quality of food, taste, customer service and being able to stop in at the adjacent gift shop made this a 5 star stop for us. We were road tripping from Charlotte to NYC, deciding to take back roads and stumbled upon this little gem in Gretna. Great design, ample seating inside and out with umbrellas to shield from the sun. I had the chopped salad with chicken and my husband ordered the club with the the sweet honey mustard recommend by the lovely girl taking orders. We also ordered the Pimiento Cheese with Toasties. Driving from Charlotte to DC and desperate for a good coffee and healthy lunch, we avoided the McDonald's and Subway's on route 29 and ducked into a small town called Gretna. A quick Google search pointed us to The Pod, which ended up being a foodie oasis on this long drive. High bright ceilings with industrial black pops of color for beautiful modern decor, we were greeted by a friendly team of women behind the counter. The menu included soups, salads, sandwiches, and breakfasts - including some delicious coffee and tea options. My cafe mocha was delightful. Simple syrup, oat and almond milk, and even a "plate" of food for your dog on the umbrella'ed patio, shows how thoughtful the owner was in crafting her offerings.
