The food was delicious. The staff were nice. Tourist and locals were both eating when we went at lunch. The moosie punch was so good too.

The pastrami sandwiches are delicious!!! Tuna salad was ok, it's made with sweet dill. There is also a small section on the deck outback that was pet friendly (very small, 3 tables). Good service. Casual atmosphere. Location on the most deck/level in the shopping center. read more

Moosie's is a SML icon. Overlooking Bridgewater Plaza it is a the center of the action. The service is great and the American Pub menu has standards and local favorites (the fried bologna is epic). Went to Moosies like we do every week. We always get the nachos. Last time they were skimpy on beef and cheese, this time they were practically non existent. When my $18 sandwich came it was not stacked with meat as it usually is so I complained and the cook added some. Still not the same so it was remade. I was told there is a new cook. Train him better. I would love to give Moosie's a better review because we have been coming here for years. However, today was such an utterly disappointing visit, all due to their hostess. We can in with 3 adults and 1 toddler (1 yr old) and they sat us at a 3 person table and wanted to stick the high chair on the corner of a square table where she wouldn't have been able to get close enough to eat and if she threw herself forward for any reason, she could seriously injure herself. So we explained that to her and asked for a bigger table that would accommodate the high chair. The hostess then decided she was done with us, set the menus down on a different table and walked off. We had to get the high chair and move some chairs around, not a big deal. The hostess then continued to run her mouth under her breath while seating others near us and would stand in the main area staring and giving us dirty looks and glaring. All because we wanted our toddler to be able to eat her lunch at the table in a safe area. I will say the waitress was wonderful. But it is very disheartening to have that be the face of your business and her attitude be the first thing people with kids experience when they enter the facility. Unfortunately the food was not up to par either, our food came out with what I thought was a hair on it but turned out to be mold growing on my food. I didn't have high hopes, as I am, admittedly, a food snob. I was pleasantly surprised. This is a fun, loud (if live music is playing downstairs), happy place to dine. Tabitha, our server, was delightful. She gave us the rundown of the menu and told us what was especially good. We started with a small order of nachos, which were very yummy. My husband had a pastrami sandwich, my son had the Monte Cristo, both loved their sandwiches. I had the prime rib special, queen cut, that came with a gorgeous salad and a baked potato for $24!! Living in Northern VA, this is an incredible price. And it was delicious and tender and well seasoned. We will definitely be back when we visit Smith Mountain Lake. read more

Ambiance is casual. No outdoor seating but you can still hear the music playing at Mango's below. Their menu has some great choices if you're looking for a sandwich. I got Kyle's Kreation which is an Italian sub and the moosies punch both were very good. The service was fast and friendly and the restaurant was clean. Worth a stop. read more

Ate sandwiches and had a round of drinks. Sandwiches were good and many many choices. I had a hot roast beef sandwich that was excellent. Piled high with excellent roast beef and cheddar. Wife had the North Carolina bbq sandwich which was also very good and tasty. I recommend you order the French fries with your sandwich as the little bag of lays that comes with them is really small and the fries were very tasty. Overall the place is pretty nice but it is a bar, so don't expect white tablecloths. Service was very attentive and very friendly. Great place for a quick bite and drink. read more

Visited on Memorial Day. First time back in YEARS. Was ready for a crap shoot due to the holiday and lake. Pleasantly surprised. We did arrive before the real lunch rush. Bartender took really good care of the 3 of us at a table while also tending bar, taking call ins, and helping seat folks. Food was delicious, drinks were wonderful. We had a birthday celebration for our friend, Jim, at Moosie's. It was wonderful. The service was good and the food was great. Jim had the Grilled Chicken Salad. Others in our group had the Gobbler that was pilled high with turkey; Funky Chicken with grilled chicken breast in a croissant; Moosie's Special with pilled high roast beef; and other dishes listed in the menu. The atmosphere was festive with birthday decorations we were allowed to put up. Several people stopped by our table to wish Jim a Happy Birthday. Popular place, especially when it's nice weather to eat outside. Unfortunately, because of covid they only had 3 small tables outside so the wait was very long. They told us 20 minutes and we waited for an hour. The menu is very extensive, especially if you're there for subs, they have anything you'd want! You cannot personalize your own though, it has to be what's on the menu. The sweet tea is delicious, and the food was good too! I would recommend. Great sandwiches! The Club is enough for 2. They make the best homade French Onion Soup within miles. It might take awhile to get seated, however once seated folks are very attentive. Nothing over the top for ambiance, but quaint and easy to talk to one another. The owner is a very nice lady that will ask your opinion on things. Had a fun time here with some girlfriends for lunch. We sat by the table that was by the fireplace and also overlooking the lake. My friends ordered drinks. One of them was the wrong drink, but the mistake was quickly corrected. Some of my friends liked their drinks, but one of them got a Bloody Mary that she really didn't like and didn't drink. The server was eager to please and very nice. She talked us out of ordering medium nachos, which was the right choice. We got small nachos and they were HUGE! They were just okay, but they filled a certain need. My friend said the burger was great, and another friend really enjoyed the roast beef sandwich. Mozzarella sticks were standard, but the buffalo wings kind of threw me for a loop. They were breaded, crispy, and not spicy--not what I'm looking for in a buffalo wing. Overall, a fun enough place to spend lunch time. I'd go back, but probably order differently. read more

Stopped in with my wife on a lazy Saturday afternoon. We just recently moved back into the area from Fargo and wanted to see the lake. Moosie's has a great view of the lake and there is a large fireplace that keeps it pretty toasty in the fall and spring. They were staffed perfectly and there wasn't a lot of people inside. We decided to a sit at the bar and we bother ordered a drink. My wife elected to try a draft beer and I had the Bloody Mary. I was not a fan of the Bloody Mary. It had a bitter taste that I didn't care much for. My wife enjoyed her beer. We looked over the menu but decided we were not ready to eat so we finished up the cocktails and left. My rating reflects a first time visit, during off peak season and the cocktail wasn't great. I would try this place again along with food in the summer. read more

Visted for the weekend and after our first visit to Moosie's we came back for a 2nd visit. The food was delicious!! Highly recommend the Moosie Burger, if you have a big appetite. Burgers overall were cooked exactly like we requested. My daughter loved the chicken tenders she ordered them twice. The drinks were yummy and made very well. Typical bar food with seems specialty in Sandwiches. Overall quality is average. What they have going for them is location on the lake - ability to boat up to with great view.
