Went for dinner on Monday. To my surprise it was margarita and prime rib Monday! Yum! Margaritas made to order quick and delicious! Laid back bar atmosphere. Bartender was attentive, but not overbearing. Dinner was great. Perfect look on both prime ribs and the pasta dishes. We were catching up with family. Our waitress was very accommodating. Friendly staff. Front is a bit unorganized. They recommend reservations but no one answers the phone. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly. I got the scampi. Decent portion and lots of shrimp. Not sure it was worth $20 but it was ok. I would order again. Plenty of parking in private lot. All seating without arms. Walking with a device would be difficult specially in the bar area and going to the bathroom since there's an employee entrance on the way and the door swings out. read more

Service is excellent. Some meals are excellent as well, some less so. The prime rib was unbelievable, but scampi not so great. Burger was delicious, tortellini not worth the money and whimpy. Same with appetizers - shrimp was excellent, crab dip not touched after a few bites. I haven't tried the pizza, but from what I saw, I will do so next visit. We go to Napoli cowboy on a regular basis, mostly to get the great pizza and enjoy the whole friendly bar experience. Tonight we went for the first time to get the prime rib and I have to tell you how impressed I was. I am normally under impressed With prime rib in restaurants because it often times does not have a lot of flavor. Tonight was the opposite. It was very flavorful. It was a little undercooked when we got it. We sent it back and they popped it on the grill for a few minutes and it was perfect. We split the 16 ounce version and shared a salad and it was more than enough for two people. Thumbs up and we will be back on Monday nights in the future. read more

We were a party of 4 in a low table in the bar... our choice. we were greeted by our server Missy, she set up all expectations, specials, drinks and appetizers. Nice spot a little off the beaten path. Food was pretty good, although we were really bummed you cannot get much Italian food/ pasta with the lunch menu. We got a pizza and as New Yorkers were quite impressed with the quality, considering we were in the south. Others in the group had sandwiches and fries which were tasty and fresh. Overall pretty good food close to Smith Mountain Lake. We ordered the firecracker shrimp (the overall favorite), crab dip, shrimp scampi, and the chicken amatriciana. This firecracker shrimp is hands down the best thing we got - the shrimp was sauced up and it wasn't too spicy but had a great flavor nonetheless. The crab dip was alright, it could have used a bit more seasoning but it was hot and the bread served with it was good. Both the shrimp scampi and the chicken amatriciana were not as sauced up as I would have preferred. The flavor of the scampi was wine and lemon heavy and the shrimp was overcooked unfortunately. I didn't eat the last 4 shrimp as it was just unpleasant to chew. The chicken amatriciana was just alright. The flavor was okay, the chicken was a bit dry and it the dish had a lot going on. Will probably come back but order different entrees! read more

We were out scouting investment properties in Moneta, VA today. Many restaurants in the area were closed. Thankfully, Napoli Cowboy was open. We were greater warmly and seated quickly. Our server introduced herself with a smile and kind words. I asked what their best selling lunch items were: Meatball & Parm grinder and Reuben. We ordered both. Both sandwiches were served with excellent coated fries. My wife's Reuben was made with real corned beef. She graded hers a 5 out of 5. I had the Meatball Grinder. It was OK. The meatballs were sourced from a bag coated with too much Parmesan. The grinder would have been enhanced by slices of Mozzerela rather than mounds of Parm. We are great full for the warm, freshly prepared lunch in the mountains. read more

For the last 12 years, we meet our friends in SML in early September. Over the years, we have tried many places to watch NFL football on Sunday with mixed results. often the food, atmosphere were misaligned. This year we tried Napoli Cowboy. It made all the difference! We called ahead Sunday morning to reserve a table in the bar area to watch one of the many TVs the owner was accommodating and friendly. Our waiter, Josh, was friendly and attentive. Everything we ordered tasted delicious and looked great. We had nachos, crab cake, calamari, chili, "football special" chicken legs, chicken parm sandwiches and chicken fingers. Amazing! We have brunch here most Sunday's. The service is usually good, however, I think there must be a bit of an issue in the kitchen. At approximately 40% capacity, our meals, on average, take 30-40 minutes. Our last visit, our meals took 45 minutes and came out wrong!!! The food was delicious, but still , not how I ordered it. They offered to remake it, but I had already waited so long that I declined. I just ate that one. The food was Lukewarm but it did taste good. Napoli Cowboy is a local favorite off Burnt Chimney Road. It's a little off the beaten path but well worth the drive. This is the forth time I've been to Napoli Cowboy for dinner and drinks. They feature a large variety of appetizers. This visit we had the fried oysters and crab dip. The oysters were lightly fried and came with a green sauce that was pretty amazing. The crab dip came with a fresh bread. Both were amazing. For the entrees we had the blackened sea bass which was the special and the cowgirl ribeye. The bass was absolutely amazing and it's a featured special every time we have been to Napoli. It's perfectly cooked and comes with a sauce on top that is amazing. The bass is the star though. The steak came out perfectly cooked. I didn't need any sauce and it was very tender. It came over a bed of garlic mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. They feature a full bar and have several house drinks. They also feature bottle and tap beer. They have several local beers on tap as well. If there was any type of complaint, on this trip, our server seemed just a little overworked or inattentive. He arrived at the table took our drink order and began to walk away as we requested to order apps. Our water was filled only when asked and he never checked to see if we needed anything when the entrees arrived. This was during a busy time so I assume he was busy with other tables. You need to make a reservation. We have gotten lucky once to get a table for two with a reservation but typically it's reservations only. read more

Great eating experience with friends! The food was excellent. The fish and chips, a special for the day, was right on point. The fish was cod, which tasted fresh, and the coating was crispy and delicious. I was surprised that an Italian and Tex-mex restaurant could pull that dish off. The highlight of the evening was the Napoli pizza. Our dinner partners commented that it was probably the best pizza in the area. The sauce and toppings really complemented the crust, which was nicely cooked with a slightly charred crust, which gave the pizza a slight and pleasant crunch. Molly, our server, was knowledgeable, pleasant and efficient. This is the first and only restaurant that markets itself as an Italian/Tex-Mex eatery that I have ever encountered but somehow they make it work very well. read more

I have been looking forward to eating here for a while, I have heard great things and read great reviews. We came here for the first time with another couple. I ordered a Cowboy ribeye medium and it came out rare. My wife ordered the filet and it was also under cooked. We sent them back (no problem sometimes it happens). The steaks then came out well done instead of medium. We ate them, as we never send food back twice. The steak did have good flavor, despite being overcooked. The waitress asked how everything was and I showed her my Gray over cooked steak. My experience left a lot to be desired, maybe it was just an off night. read more

"Where the taste of Italy and Texas collide" We love Italian food. We weren't quite sure if "Texas" meant Tex-Mex, BBQ, or just Southern, but it looked like a fun combination, and we were excited to try the new spot in town! They make a delicious steak here. Great option for a date, dinner w friends, or even to catch the game at the bar. Tip: It might be a good idea to make a reservation here. We came on a weeknight and it was a pretty full house! We ordered: Meatball appetizer - fun twist on a traditional meatball with the addition of raisins and pinenuts. The presentation threw us off since it was served in a mug. Maybe go with the theme and offer some additional sauce in a creamer? Tasty! But if you love sauce like us, ask for some extra sauce. There wasn't enough in there. Steak Salad - Simple and delicious. The salad comes with a large portion of steak that is absolutely delicious. I would hands down order this again. Cowgirl Ribeye - Despite the temptation for my boyfriend to order the 16 oz "Cowboy" entree solely based on the name, the 10oz Cowgirl was a great portion. Cooked and flavored to perfection. Hands down a great steak. Its disappointing that the entrees don't allow a choice of sides. The sweet potato hash (which was more of a "mash") was too sweet and it would have been nice to be able to get the regular garlic mashed potatoes. There isn't a steak entree on the menu where you can avoid the sweet potato. Doesn't make sense. Cornbread - If it's supposed to be generous for two... Serve it in two pieces. It did not seem big enough to share and for $4...had us a bit underwhelmed. I'd rather pay $6 for a bread basket that included some of the cornbread and maybe some rolls. Napoli Cowboy is definitely worth trying out. They earned that 4th star with great service and a steak cooked to perfection.
