Thursday night special "fish n chips" grouper

Everything was amazing as always. If you like salad, get the garden salad. I love the ranch, but my mother in law swears by the champagne vinaigrette.

Nice spot a little off the beaten path. Food was pretty good, although we were really bummed you cannot get much Italian food/ pasta with the lunch menu. We got a pizza and as New Yorkers were quite impressed with the quality, considering we were in the south. Others in the group had sandwiches and fries which were tasty and fresh. Most of the lunch menu was unfortunately bar style food, rather than nicer restaurant food. Staff were very friendly and kind.

Overall pretty good food close to Smith Mountain Lake. We ordered the firecracker shrimp (the overall favorite), crab dip, shrimp scampi, and the chicken amatriciana. This firecracker shrimp is hands down the best thing we got - the shrimp was sauced up and it wasn't too spicy but had a great flavor nonetheless. The crab dip was alright, it could have used a bit more seasoning but it was hot and the bread served with it was good. Both the shrimp scampi and the chicken amatriciana were not as sauced up as I would have preferred. The flavor of the scampi was wine and lemon heavy and the shrimp was overcooked unfortunately. I didn't eat the last 4 shrimp as it was just unpleasant to chew. The chicken amatriciana was just alright. The flavor was okay, the chicken was a bit dry and it the dish had a lot going on. Will probably come back but order different entrees!

We were out scouting investment properties in Moneta, VA today. Many restaurants in the area were closed. Thankfully, Napoli Cowboy was open. We were greater warmly and seated quickly. Our server introduced herself with a smile and kind words. I asked what their best selling lunch items were: Meatball & Parm grinder and Reuben. We ordered both. Both sandwiches were served with excellent coated fries. My wife's Reuben was made with real corned beef. She graded hers a 5 out of 5. I had the Meatball Grinder. It was OK. The meatballs were sourced from a bag coated with too much Parmesan. The grinder would have been enhanced by slices of Mozzerela rather than mounds of Parm. We are great full for the warm, freshly prepared lunch in the mountains.

Website states creative cocktails yet they don't serve frozen drinks or Moscow mules. Our waitress didn't know the difference between a whiskey sour and a gin and tonic. One in our party had his heart set on a low country boil that was pictured in one of the websites. He was told they didn't have it. Also the price of scallops over risotto ($49) and a martini ($13.95) is more than I pay at the beach at an upscale restaurant. I will say that all of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. The side salads were nice. After we finished our meal our plates remained on the table until our waitress appeared and ask how we wanted our checks. Never mentioned dessert or coffee, etc. We told her that one of us wanted dessert and another a coffee. When we did receive our checks 2 of them were wrong. Also, was charged for 2 sides when the menu clearly stated 2 sides included. We just paid it and left frustrated. I say all this because management needs to properly train their wait staff and also update the web pages.

First off, I asked for no cheese on my eggs for the steak and eggs, a $52 dish. I was told "no "substitutions". It's not a substitution, I asked that they leave cheese off. Nope, not possible. Instead I opted for the "churro French toast", which was bland, soggy French toast without any churro flavor, accompanied by either pre-cooked or microwaved bacon. Hardly worth $34. The waitress clearly didn't want to be there - complete lack of personality, bordering on a poor attitude. What should have been a nice brunch for the two moms in attendance was done in 45 minutes. This place needs to stick to dinner because clearly brunch is not in their wheelhouse. The restaurant itself is nice and in a great area, and the bar looks like it would be a great spot for drinks and appetizers, but I'm not sure I would go back.

We went to the downtown location and found an unassuming building next to some abandoned store fronts. It's not the place you would happen to just venture in if you weren't aware it was there. Once inside you would be pleasantly surprised basis the outside to find a nicely appointed traditional steakhouse. We were taken beyond the main dining and kitchen to a back room where we were initially the only ones seated there. It quickly began to fill with others. It was freezing cold back there. Seems to be an area they expanded in to. I got their signature cocktail, a pineapple martini, and it was ok. Not anything special, but a nice sip. I enjoyed it. For my appetizer I went with the lobster bisque and only one piece of lobster was in it. For my main dish, I decided against steak (I know, I'm at a steakhouse!) and went with an off menu seafood special. The portion was good. I was full, but with both the bisque and the seafood, I got a pleasant mercury after taste. It actually made me concerned and I didn't end up finishing the seafood dish. Both had lots of promise otherwise and I was fine, so just a taste issue. For the prices, I would not return. My meal with the one cocktail, lobster bisque, seafood dish and bottle of water came to $158. The price is comparable to steakhouses in Raleigh, so that is not what I was disappointed in, but moreso the quality of food for that price.

Set inside an old firehouse, at the back of a high end furniture store, this place made me feel like I was having a night out in a big city. The hanger steak tasted like a much more expensive cut of meat so clearly this is not the chef's first rodeo. And that cheese sauce was ridiculous. My husband enjoyed their $9 happy hour old fashioned and I loved my glass of cab sauv from Fableist. Our server gave us the perfect amount of attention as well.
