This was our very first experience with the point towson and sadly it was horrible. We chose to go to the point for my sister's birthday brunch. We made reservations prior to for low a rise table and that request was confirmed three times prior to our actual reservation. However when we arrived we were met with disregard and confusion by Manager Mike and waitress. We were told to sit at a hightop in our elegant brunch attire at the front door, in the bar area while they played trivia. He was extremely hostile to the point that a gentleman had to Intervene to calm Mike manager down. We were given two options: either sit here or go somewhere else even though there was a open table for the same size that we could have switch too. However, because of all the preparation and our party size we had no choice but to stay begrudgingly. We were not accommodated in anyway although Mikey the evening Manager did allow me to know that next time we came he would "take care" of us. read more

We made a reservation on Jan. 7 with Open Table to try out The Point in Towson Restaurant during Restaurant Week. The purpose of Restaurant Week is to give diners the opportunity to try new places, and we were excited about doing just that. We arrived on Jan. 31 for our reservation for 3. There was no one at the hostess stand. Finally, a server came over and went and got the manager. We had asked to be seated someplace quiet in our reservation request. They took us to what I could call the enclosed porch area. There were 4 other diners when we arrived. They had to push two tables together to accommodate us. I was surprised that this was not done prior to our arrival. Our server came over and gave us two menus and then left to get our waters. The menus we received were their regular menu and a special Wednesday pasta dinner menu. When we asked about the Restaurant Week menu, we were told that they decided not to offer it anymore. They were busy over the weekend, closed on Monday and not busy on Tuesday. We were very disappointed. We ordered a bottle of wine and looked at the menu. The server came back to take our orders. I ordered, then my husband, but when my friend ordered, she was told that they were out of the Cod. How can that be - they only offer 7 Big Meals/Entrees? That is when we decided to just leave. Our server really was embarrassed and upset about everything that happened. However, it was not her fault. I guess when she told the manager we were leaving, he came out with the Restaurant Week menus and said that we could order off of it if we really wanted to, but that they did not have everything. We thanked him and said we were leaving. We paid for the wine and went across the street to The Rec Room. We will be surprised if this restaurant lasts in Towson. read more

The Point in Towson is a phenomenal experience. I love this spot for Sunday Brunch (try some monkey bread when they have it!) prior to a movie, or Saturday dinner (fried deviled eggs app) after a movie. Whichever does not matter, but being served by Brandy is the most important thing. She is the key to a positive experience at The Point. Always with the best cocktail recommendations and has become a staple here. Can't wait to be back next time! read more

Today 10/24/2021 me and my family (party of 8) were HIGHLY disappointed. Our waitress Sylvia was all over the place. She kept saying to us that she would make certain accommodations and later told the manager something else. Our orders kept getting messed up, the establishment ran out of grits so what I wanted I could not get. They ran out of grits before brunch was over (2:49pm). There was no sincere apologies it felt more like they were saying," you can either get it or leave". The manager Tim was nice nasty and I had to inform him to look at his cameras so he could see we were not lying about not receiving certain food we were charged for. The only reason we stayed was because it was a place my brother ( the birthday boy) wanted to attend. He ended up not being please with the food or service and he left. The food was not enjoyable, there was barely no seasonings. We were forced to get the brunch menu but then they didn't have everything on the menu. So you needed up having to settle while still paying for a FULL SERVICE you did not receive. While there one of the bartenders said to two black guys who are apart of the LGBTQ community ," you people need to leave". It was my first time there and I was not pleased. Me and my family love going out to dinner especially for celebrations. However, this experience was horrible! For our bill to be over 400.00 we should have left happy and satisfied. We went to brunch around 1:00pm on a Saturday. We got lucky because the restaurant was not crowded. We were seated quickly. Our waitress was very friendly. I ordered a soda. It tasted flat so I asked for a new soda. The second soda was also flat. The waitress suggested I try something else. I guess they weren't sure how to correct this problem (restaurant 101.) The food was pretty good. Great selection of sandwiches and breakfast stuff on the menu. The prices were pretty reasonable also. The bathrooms in this place were not good. The women's bathroom did not have a changing table. There was a lady that had to change her baby's diaper while the baby was laying on the bathroom floor. So gross! The men's bathroom only had one stall. Horrible considering the size and number of tables in this restaurant AND bar. We went for brunch today and the food was good but the atmosphere was a bit annoying as there was a drag queen brunch going on and all you heard was women screaming every few minutes. This made it hard for anyone else to enjoy their meal and have a discussion without shouting. I ordered a lobster avocado benedict, which was good, decent amount of lobster, but a little light on the portion as it wasn't very filling. Just finished a great meal at the point. I have been meaning to check it out for a while and finally the food gds were in my favor. Was greeted by a very friendly bar tender as the hostess must have just sat another party down. Was seated immediately and offered waters and menus. Our waitress was super friendly, told us about specials and offered to review menu with us but we were good. Ordered the wings and crab dip to start, they were. It's awesome! You could tell this place used high quality ingredients. Ordered our main courses, steak frites and a buffalo chicken sandwich! steak was great, my chick sandwich was spiced just right and those tater tots were yummy! Went for a girls night out. We sat on the patio. Glasses of wine were $4. Nice! I had the salmon and it was very delicious. The Dijon mustard taste was very strong so if you don't like Dijon mustard don't get it. Service was a little sir but that's ok because we were not on a rush. I wish the patio had a nice view though. It was overlooking an alley and a parking lot. Went again on "lump day" where they had a crab cake offer. The meal had tons of tries but the cake itself was small. It was delicious though. It also came with a salad but it was not impressive. I would recommend the crab cake sandwich over the entree. A few friends and I went on a Saturday for mimosa and honestly it was such a good experience. Our server was really friendly and kind. He took time and answered any questions about the food on the menu and our dietary restrictions and even though it was busy he didn't rush us. The mimosa were perfect. The Point has slowly gone downhill. We've been coming here for years for trivia most every week, but after tonight we will never go back. It's expensive and not worth the money. You could tell that with the drinks, they were really trying to save money. The margaritas were mostly crushed ice and not much actual margarita. The wine pours were small. For the food, the only item to praise was the chicken wings. The chicken bacon tacos were just pieces of dry deep fried popcorn chicken with a tiny strip of bacon and specks of cheese. I asked for salsa, because the tacos were so dry, and they charged $2 for a tiny container of salsa. When I pointed this surprise charge to the waitress, she said she would take off the charge but instead she just reduced the charge to $1. The total bill for 3 of us was $192. We love Chris the trivia host here, so we will catch him at his other night here in Towson at a different restaurant. Very sad. We sensed they are in financial difficulties to charge more for less. read more

Came up from Charleston sc for citadel Towson football. Citadel lost badly. Drowned our sorrows at local bar restaurant. Really different food. Crab filled hush puppies excellent. Philapino meatballs. Spicy but tasty. Also lamb quesadilla with goat cheese an roast peppers. All really Different but really good friendly servers. Friendly people. Band after 9pm. The decor was nice. I sat at one of the round small high top tables in the middle. There were TV's and a full bar. The service was good and we met the cook in the back who was nice as well. We came for brunch and the menu was small but had decent selections. I ended up getting the crab chowder soup and the southwest salad. Both were good and fulfilling but I also wanted wings which weren't on the menu and they only served on the dinner menu. The waiter made an exception for me and put a order in for them anyway. My first time and I was underwhelmed. My wife and I walked into the bar and first thing we saw was a group of drunks. Two girls were jumping onto each other. In any decent place they would have thrown them out. The bar was loud and just about everyone was drunk. We went to the bar on the other side and the crowd was a little calmer. The bartender was very nice. He greeted us and offered us menus. Wine was half price on Wednesday and we got an awesome wine for the money. That is when the calmer crowd heated up and started dropping F bombs. It seemed like the Towson boys from the Crease in the 70's and 80's that never grew up. Very low class. The menu was underwhelming. I got the crab and corn chowder which I have to admit was fantastic but my wife's salad was a wet soggy mess. Where do I start? Me and my friend visited this location for the first time. I have lived in Towson/Parkville for 30 years. I have been to many restaurants, but today we experience very bad service, and discrimination from the server. 1) The server asked to hold our credit card in order for him to serve us, the same server asked another black couple to hold their card as well. The white people sitting right behind us where not asked for their credit card. 2) We decided to provide our credit card not to cost a scene. I called the server to inquire about why our credit card was needed before we were serve. He quoted "people don't pay for their orders, they usually run out of the restaurant". ????????????. We were confused about what he said, because not every black person who walk into an establishment is planning to eat and run. Me and my friend are business owners, and well established. This is the first time I have been asked for my credit card. 3) The food was late, the server placed the wrong order, and they didn't even prepared all our foods. The server only gave us half of our order. We spent almost an hour waiting for the rest of our food. We got so frustrated, we asked for the ticket , so we can leave. The server also planned to swipe our card before providing us a receipt . We told him we don't have all our orders, he went to the back to check, however our order was not prepared. We requested the server to remove two items off our receipts . Thank God we checked the receipt before he swipe the credit card. He didn't apologize, so we figured this is not just bad service, but discrimination 4) Myself and my friend are not criminals, but walking into the establishment, we were already judged because of the color of our skin. In my line of business we work with people from all backgrounds. Me and my friend spend a lot of time in Towson to meet and talk about business . We visit restaurants like on the border, and Bonefish grill, today we wanted to try something else. I can easily walk away and not write this review, however it was very obvious we were not welcomed there. We can tolerate bad services not discrimination which was very obvious. My score is 2.5. The service was friendly and food came out relatively quickly. The home fries weren't served hot enough to be good. I ordered the Walter White omelet because it sounded fairly light (most of the menu is quite not!) but it was sitting in a pool of oil. (I soaked it up with a napkin as much as I could.) TERRIBLE SERVICE: Went in there tonight to treat my sister and my girlfriend. Asked to sit at the outside veranda (front side) where there were 2 tables. There was a couple sitting IN FRONT of the further table, but it was definitely free. Asked the waiter if he could sit us at the table, and he says "I don't want to disturb the other party." Speaking of which, they had no reservation... and it wasn't VIP. I immediately asked to speak to the manager. The manager comes out and justifies why we were not seated, her name was Stephanie or something... we asked why she's justifying the hostess/waiters bad behavior instead of apologizing for pretty much segregating their patrons... she told us that there are seats in the back, and we are more than welcome to sit in the back. This manager deflected everything we asked about, held her hands steadily on her hips, and proceeded to say she's already apologized twice, when she hadn't apologized at all...she only apologized after my sister calmly told her that she missed an opportunity to address our concerns and apologize for her employee's ineptitude and rudeness. Enjoyed my experience here, a really nice atmosphere, nicely decorated. The menu is a manageable size, however, it includes very little for people with dietary restrictions (such as being a vegetarian). Our waiter was decent and very friendly, however spend quite a bit of time with his other tables and hadn't checked on us in quite a while, I had to resort to going to the bar to get more water about 7 minutes after we got our meals. We had ordered a couple of appetizers which were great, however, we needed to order additional pretzel pieces (for $2) and arrived very burnt, nearly inedible. The service here was terrible for brunch. It was about 10 of us and almost all of us ordered bottomless drinks. It took forever for a refill. The service was extremely slow and when I received my food, it was just about room temperature. If it wasn't for the fact that I was extremely hungry and had already been drinking, I would've sent it back. Two persons at the table sent their food back due to temperature and a fly. The waitress barely checked in on us to see how we were doing. I noticed that other patrons that were there were getting better service than us. So they got a new chef...I had been there before they got a new chef and the food was great. When I revisited, I got a crab cake sandwich and French dip sandwich. Had to send back the crab cake because it wasn't cooked. Got it back and it was so gross no flavor we couldn't even eat it. The French dip was nothing like it used to be. What was positive? Nice interior. Cool space overall. Convenient location. Friendly bartender who was also our server. A manager who eventually compensated us for the issues (listed below). What was OK: the food, mediocre. What was negative? Everything else. We had a reservation. Our entire party arrived within twenty minutes of the res. Our order wasn't taken until 40 minutes later. Then, our food, took literally an hour and a half to come out. So that means it took over two hours for us to be served after our entire party had arrived. This completely ruined our experience which was for a celebration. People literally had to leave before food arrived. There were some other tables at the restaurant but it wasn't like they were mobbed. There was very little communication throughout the wait to update us on what the issues were. Clearly, there are some organizational issues at this restaurant. Understaffed, poor systems & training, and/ or management issues. Whatever the case may be, this restaurant needs to figure it out in order to treat customers to at-least a basic standard for restaurant service etiquette. read more

I had my birthday here. We had two tables totally 18 people. They were very accommodating my guests, including two members of my party that have peanut allergies. The food was all delicious. But, our waitress was HORRIBLE. She was frankly very rude. The first thing she said to my party of 18 (again, please remember, 18 LEGAL BOTTOMLESS BRUNCHERS so $$$) "umm did you guys move the tables together because we don't do that" and then proceeded to scold us. I don't know her name because she didn't introduce herself, she instead started the meal reprimanding us for the tables. I don't even know why that mattered at all, we were told we had both tables, but whatever. Her service from there did not improve. It was half an hour before we got our first round of drinks, including water. The time in between refills for those of us who got bottomless brunch was also between 30-45 minutes. A few of my guests arrived after the majority of us, and it took them at like 25 minutes to get acknowledged by her. Then at the end of the meal, she also told us in her ever snarky tone that they do not split checks, at all, no questions asked, so it was our problem. This is an interesting attitude for her to take, since her tip depends on us paying, as well as her service that she provides. We ended up figuring out the bill and then tipping her 15% (which was about half of what we would have tipped if she had been better). If there is a no check splitting policy, that's fine, but there is a proper way to communicate that politely. All in all, it didn't ruin my day, but I would not go back there with a large party. If i go back there with a smaller party, I will put in a request to not have her wait on us. read more
