We have been here a bunch of times and the tacos have always been good. While they aren't "authentic" Mexican, they have unique flavors and toppings for everyone to enjoy. I had to take a photo of the tacos holder to show how much excess oil was left after consuming my tacos. I've been twice in the last month for dinners with coworkers. I will say that the food is pretty darn good. The birria taco was especially enjoyable. Good guac and margaritas too. However the service was quite poor. I was there on a Tuesday and Wednesday night. Not crowded either time. And there was plenty of staff working. But service was very, very slow. I had to request water multiple times. I had to request my check twice and still wait at least 20 minutes. I asked a friend and he had very similar experiences. Good food. This was our first time here. I've seen several of these throughout the state and always wanted to try. We came for a lunch and they weren't busy and there was no wait to be seated. Our Server Agustina greeted us and took our drink orders. We got our drinks, but there was a long while before our Server came back to the table to take our food orders, my Husband went up to the Bar and asked the Bartender if he knew if our Server was coming back, we saw her at the end of the Bar on her cellphone. Amazing food, good ambiance, and the service was great. I got the buffalo chicken quesadilla, and it was well-spiced and I particularly enjoyed their cheese mix. The meat was in big chunks and both sauces were overpowered by onions. Did not get the pineapple at all in the pastor. The enchiladas had a combination of too many sauces. Visited the Towson location on a whelm and although my Husband isn't a big fan of Mexican cuisine he enjoyed his visit. The ambiance is also awesome - good music, TVs playing sports games, dimmed/colorful lights, neon signs, etc. I do have to say - it is almost always packed, so we haven't sat at a table (by choice), and like to just be immediately seated at the bar. My family and I visited Banditos on a whim. One note, we are new to the Towson area and still feeling things out. I absolutely loved the design of the Banditos space. It has dark walls that are brightened by colorful skulls and imagery that would fit at most Day of the Dead celebrations. There are layers to this place. Multiple floors, indoor/outdoor seating, booths and bars, large and intimate. Banditos could meet the needs of pretty much any occasion and any size. So what's the problem? Well, the food just wasn't that good. I loved the idea of items like tofu and cauliflower rice but when it boiled down to it, nothing on the menu was vegan. They have a veggie burrito/bowl which I ordered as a bowl and took the cheese off of. What was left didn't really flow. It was just a collection of different flavors. My kids ordered a quesadilla that came with a side of chips and I used those in my bowl to help a bit. I could see a world where Banditos offered some sort of vegan nachos because their chips are pretty good. Anyways, our bill, with tip, seemed high for the quality of food. Again, we are new to the area so maybe the price is par for the Towson course and I'm off base here. We've been to the Banditos in White Marsh and wanted to see how this one would compare. We got there just after opening and had the entire back patio to ourselves, which was nice. They're done a great job with the construction of this location. When we first walked in, we were greeted by a less-than-thrilled hostess, which didn't bother me too much. We were there for the food and drinks. The server was fantastic. Very nice, polite, and genuinely seemed like she was enjoying her day, which is nice to see in the restaurant industry. When it comes to service, they did a great job. The food was great as well. Husband ordered the Authentic Mexican Street Corn and let me have a bite... YES! Very good! He ordered two tacos, I ordered three and none of them disappointed. Honestly, in comparing to the White Marsh location, these had more filling and heft to them! Great Job! Drinks were great too. Bandits Tacos and Tequila has open in the location formerly know as Cafe Troia, which was across the street from the Former Cafe Troia, down the road from several former Restaurants and eating establishments. When you think about it why oh why does Towson have. So many Restaurants? Conservatively speaking off the top of my head there are no less then 40 restaurants in an eight block area. Many Mexican iterations have opened and closed, came and went. Banditos has a good chance in surviving in this overcrowded market. The decor is different in its Homage to Dia de Los Muertos or the Day of the Dead motif. The menu is well balanced and is both traditional and trendy, hipsters will love the exciting Taco Flavors and Combinations so tasty. Three other guests at my table opted for the designer Choices and no one was dissatisfied as they wolves their tacos down. I opted for the traditional Taco menu and chose two Bierhaa Tacos and one Carnitas they wee EXCELLENT a they even served the traditional accompanying au jus for the Bierra Tacos. Service was good, lots of eager staff on the premises but they are still Learning how to work as a Team. All in all this place deserves 5 stars for the food. read more
