Bread pudding with white chocolate sauce dessert

We had an amazing , unexpected , and memorable ding experience here for a late lunch. We walked into this "cafe" in downtown Hattiesburg to find white paper on the tables, tastefully decorated and a perfect volume jazz playlist providing just the right ambient music. Charlotte our server couldn't have been more knowledgeable about the menu, the establishment and the area. I ordered pork chops, eggs, toast, & grits. Husband had the Blue plate special , and chose the catfish, collard greens & coleslaw to go with the hush puppies & cornbread. They had a full bar & a tempting specialty cocktail menu as well as happy hour specials but we decided to stick with water as we were on a road trip. Again, this was a completely unexpected experience. Everything was cooked to perfection & tasted incredible. Charlotte explained that this is the closest to New Orleans style food that you will find around. She then told us the chef offers "a taste" of 2 deserts (changes daily if offered). A white chocolate Brad pudding and a chocolate cake with sauce. Oh wow!! Much more than a taste but full dessert portion. Both were so good and genuinely appreciated. Such a good meal, with incredible service and beautiful atmosphere. We will be back. Thank you!

I got the creole crabcake pasta, and it was the best crabcake that I've ever tried. The pasta itself was very good, very flavorful and creamy and not too heavy on the stomach. Good portion sizes and the bread that comes with was also great. Overall, the food came out fast, service was good, highly recommend this place and I would come back.

Hands down the best pork chops ever! My husband and I drive an hour and a half just to eat here, and it's always worth it. Every visit, the food is spot-on and the staff makes you feel right at home. We'll definitely be back next month -- can't wait!

Nice, cute, cozy brunch spot whether for a date or just out with some friends. Very friendly staff and jazzy live music. The sweet potato pancakes were a hit! And the bartender whipped up a couple tasty mocktails. I would definitely circle back next time I'm in the area

This little place has my family's business now. Our waitress was very attentive. The food is PHENOMENAL. My parents got the fried green tomatoes and they were the best I've ever had. I got the sweet potato pancakes with fried chicken, it was divine. My hisndand got the chicken and waffles and it was delightful. My dad and brother in law got the stuffed redfish and I think it was the best redfish I've ever had. My sister got a ribeye steak and it was also quite tasty. Overall we will be back to explore the menu even more!

Today was the first day I got the opportunity to stop by the Blu Jazz. I've passed by on several occasions but always been too busy to stop. Always smelling indulgent aromas in the air, upbeat music, and a dark alluring atmosphere I knew it wouldn't be long before I would be drawn in my this mesmerizing force. I was right. We walked in and it was like stepping into a downtown New Orleans upscale restaurant. They aim to please for sure. There was instrumental music filling the room. It wasn't so loud that you had to scream huh, and wasn't so low to where there were awkward silences. There was Mardi Gras necklaces hanging from fixtures that made you feel as if a parade had just come through. We were greeted and seated awaiting our server. Our server came out post haste. She was very considerate offering a dinner menu in the beginning and then a brunch menu. She gave us time to order and came back with suggestions for a drink. There were different special available based on your alcohol preference. We ordered and the food came out in a timely manner. The food was cooked to perfection. We got the chicken and the stuffed redfish. Both were very good. The fish was nice and flaky and not over or undercooked. Since we do not eat carbs she gave us veggie options. They were amazing. I would have to say we will definitely be return customers. I would recommend. Location: 5 Prices: 5 Customer Service: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Quality: 5

Hands down best experience I've ever received from a restaurant! Quickly greeted and seated with an unmatched southern hospitality, Mr Charles Carter was hosting the Fourth of July Brunch and had the place rocking! Everyone was interactive with the singing and clapping, the vibe was nothing short of amazing. I got a shrimp PoBoy with jambalaya, being from south Louisiana I always expect a sub par sandwich but Blu Jazz Cafe did not disappoint one bit! Shrimp were nice sized & fresh, jambalaya was perfectly moist and seasoned. Even the battered fries were incredible, my lady ordered a hamburger steak with fried okra and potatoes. The okra looked and tasted fresh cut and hand battered, the hamburger steak definitely tasted like a fresh hand made patty. Every single thing we had ordered was nothing short of Great! We were having such a great time singing and enjoying the show we decided to stick around and order some desert..... white chocolate bread pudding with the sauce and my lady ordered the brownie and vanilla ice cream these were probably the best desserts I've ever had in a restaurant! I honestly can't get over how great of a time we had! They gained life long customers for sure!

We went to the Lucky Rabbit antique stores and bazaar on a Saturday. This was our first visit to downtown Hattiesburg. The downtown area is quaint and lively at the same time. We decided to try the Blue Jazz Cafe, based on reviews and the menu. This was one of the best decisions we have made in a long time. I can't adequately describe the flavors. They were amazing!! We started with crab cake appetizers. These were delicious and the sauce was perfect. I had their daily special, which was called Grits and Grillades, I believe. It was stone ground grits, with smoked short rib for a protein, caramelized onions, green and red bell peppers. I was able to cut the meet with my spoon!! It was that tender. The dish was very good. My wife had the shrimp and grits. It was the best shrimp and grits we have ever had at a restaurant!!! The cream sauce was so flavorful!! The shrimp had great flavor and was not overcooked. It was mind blowing quality. Our server was very engaging and attentive. The meal was nicely spread out, meaning we had our drinks for a little while before we got the appetizer. There was plenty of time before our meal was served after the appetizer. We enjoy having time together while enjoying a meal and not feeling rushed. The owner, Nelson, is very personable and humble. I enjoyed having some conversation with him as I was leaving and he opened the door for me. He seemed like a genuine person. I highly recommend Blue Jazz Cafe if you are in downtown Hattiesburg.

Came to Blu Jazz cafe while staying in Laurel Mississippi and everything was closed on the 4th of July in Laurel and we were not warned by the B&B we booked at. Right at the start from walking in the door, I was greeted with big smiles. Sat promptly. Cool place with a great atmosphere. We were lucky because a blues, jazz band that sounded phenomenal started to play. Southern Creole dishes on the menu so it made it hard to choose. I wanted to try them all! I at the chicken daily lunch special and my husband ate the chicken and waffles. We ordered crab cakes for an appetizer. The crab cakes were all crab, big and delicious with a little creole sauce on top. Phenomenal! Our lunch was fresh and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant. The adult cocktails are great too! The staff is super friendly and happy you are there. This was one of the best restaurants I have been in for years.

Yard bird with sweet potato pancakes! Highly recommend!

Our server, Cameron, was kind, patient, and attentive as we waited for our friend to arrive. He was also extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and offered great suggestions based on his personal favorites. We started with the crabmeat wontons, which I was expecting to favor traditional rangoons, but these were crispy gyozo dumplings, filled with a savory and smooth blend of crab and cream cheese, and served with sweet chili sauce. They didn't last long on the table :) Even my husband, who usually doesn't like seafood, dug in! Intrigued by the subtle twist on a classic, my husband chose the fried chicken and beignets. I was allowed a bite :) and it was hard to stop there! The flavor of both components was outstanding, and the crispy texture, perfect. I wasn't quite as hungry, so I asked if I could do a classic Caesar salad and add creole shrimp. When I say this was the best salad I've ever had, I'm not exaggerating! The flavor of the dressing was so simple yet rich, the croutons were light and tasted freshly-made, and the shrimp were deliciously savory, with a blackened flavor that exceeded my expectations. All in all, a great dining experience that we will share with others traveling through the area, and will repeat if we're ever back!

They opened one in Florida and when we visited we were just not as impressed and decided we probably wouldn't go back unless it was the original one. While on vacation again, we noticed Vicious Biscuit on the map and decided to give it another try. I'm so glad we did because the food was spot on and delicious. I got the Vicious and my husband got the Flame Thrower. The biscuits are buttery, flaky, and flavorful. Both of ours came with a cheddar jalapeño biscuit and they were exactly as we had remembered when we visited the OG Vicious Biscuit. The chicken, the cowboy candy, and gravy on mine were perfect. The chicken, cowboy candy, and candied bacon on my husband's were equally excellent. Great job on making us wanting to visit again! Vicious Biscuit is once again a stop we'll be looking for on our next road trip!

They were both clueless about ADA requirements as they pertain to service animals. The rude Asian lady told me I couldn't bring my service animal inside because customers wouldn't be comfortable. After explaining to her that my animal was, in fact, a service animal, she continued not to listen. The shift manager and I had a great conversation about the ADA requirements. He requested that I put a vest on my service animal, which is not required, and then asked me for paperwork, which is not required. I kindly directed him to ADA websites outlining the requirements for service animals. I compromised and put my animal's vest on him because the manager was extremely ignorant of the requirement. The Rude Asian lady attempted to put us in a back corner intentionally. She also stated that the ADA did not apply to that establishment. Our waitress said we had permission to move the table if we needed. The conversation was so tense that we paid afterward instead of before eating, and we would have eaten for free if we had been dishonest. The wait staff was absolutely top-notch, and I have no complaints about those lovely ladies. As for returning, I might indeed do so with my attorney. Recommendation: the Rude Asian Lady that works the front desk should be fired and has no place in such a nice community. When you're running a business, it's up to the staff to understand all rules and regulations that apply. The patron shouldn't have to teach those rules. Patrons with disabilities should not be treated poorly because other customers might be offended.
