I live on the west coast, so I had to get creative about showing up to the wedding somehow. I decided to "be there" in flowers and offered to make floral arrangements for my brother and his bride. I found Alisha Simone Elegant Event Flowers & Decor. I was excited to support this amazing Black-owned business. I called many florists in Collingswood, and Alisha Simone was the most thoughtful florist I spoke to on the phone. Very kind and professional. She listened and connected with me on a human level, empathizing with my inability to attend my brother's wedding. She was hopeful that she could support me and make the flowers a special offering, a token of my love. Alisha Simone certainly delivered, and I've been singing her praises ever since. To be safe during COVID-19, the wedding was small. I explained to Alisha that it was a party of 8 people including the bride and groom, the parents, the maid of honor, and best man. Alisha worked with me on figuring out the best flowers for each person involved and sent me a portfolio of sample arrangements for the bouquets as well as boutonnières. I could tell that it was going to be special working with her, because she had asked me what the bride's dress looked like, how tall my brother was, his build, their heights, etc. She explained that she tries to tailor the floral arrangements to match the same style and mood of the bride and groom. Her attention to detail meant the world to me. The bride wanted a mostly blue bouquet with white flowers, she had mentioned hydrangeas but was also open to any soft blue flower. I really wanted to make sure the bride would be happy with her bouquet. Alisha was brilliant, she recommended delphinium. But I was worried that it wasn't going to be enough blue for the bride if we just used delphinium. I had heard that hydrangeas wilt faster, but Alisha worked hard to accommodate the bride's wishes. She also affirmed the need to add hydrangeas to provide texture. So she said that she could put hydrangeas in small water tubes so they could stay fresh in the bouquet throughout the day. She assured me that nothing would spill if she set the bouquet down. As you can see, the bridal bouquet consisted of white roses, delphinium, some hydrangeas, and some greenery. On the day of her wedding, the bride was so happy! She felt that the bouquet was perfect. Alisha really listened to the bride's needs and my concerns. The groom's boutonnière had a wonderful soft blue accent to match the bridal bouquet, while the rest of the party had uniform white roses with some greenery. The bride had asked for the mothers to have corsages, but we went with petite bouquets instead when Alisha mentioned that the corsages might die faster and become a nest of dead flowers without the stems to dip in water. This was a really good point. Alisha kept in mind that the weather would be hot, and if the wedding party was going to be in three different locations (ballroom, church, house) then it might be better for the mothers to have petite bouquets. That way, she said, they could put them in water throughout the day and then take home their bouquets to enjoy them longer. I loved this suggestion so much. This shows just how thoughtful Alisha is as a florist. Alisha Simone is a florist that you can trust. She has my highest recommendation, and I would definitely work with her again. You will feel cared for as you plan your wedding. If you're long distance (like me) and you'd like to deliver flowers in Collingswood or the greater Philadelphia area, you will appreciate Alisha's clear communication. We were in touch by phone and email. The payment process was easy. Anyways, I wish I could've been at the wedding in person. But it was such an honor to celebrate my brother and new sister-in-law through the flowers that they held/wore on their special day. Thank you, Alisha. So, we haven't had our wedding yet. In fact, we've only had our initial appointment. I'm not one to…read morewrite a ton of Yelp reviews, let alone reviews for a service we haven't fully had yet. But that's how good of an impression Vito and his team left, and how confident I am that we made the right choice for the wedding. I am completely hopeless and lost when it comes to design and having an artistic eye. Other than "we get married, everybody parties," I had no specific vision for the wedding and walked into the appointment utterly clueless. But when my mom and I walked in to the appointment, Vito took the time to get to know us and what we were looking for. He actually showed us some real samples, rather than solely relying on pictures. He is incredibly personable and made both of us feel very comfortable and at ease. He explained how the flowers would work with our venue and everything about the coordination process (it helps that he's worked with our venue several times). Vito also has an incredible eye for design and his prices are extremely reasonable (in fact, at this rate, it feels like a steal!). They work quickly too - not even 24 hours later, we got a follow-up email from his team with all the information we'll need moving forward. After just one appointment, I can't recommend Vito and Carl Alan Floral Designs enough. My mom and I can't wait for the sample appointment, and I can't imagine working with anyone else!

I also met the owner Carl while I was in the planning process and he was very, very nice. Cons: The team did not deliver on multiple things we talked about ahead of our reception. Our sweetheart table did not have flowers on it as discussed (only greens which I'm sure is much cheaper) and they did not use pillars to display flowers on the sides of the table. The team who set up was nice, but they ran late even though they were aware of the allotted time for them to set up. We were planning to rent additional vases for a couple hundred dollars and they did not end using them. The venue made sure I was aware of this too (because they used their vases instead). Since they did not use them, I asked to be refunded for what I paid for the additional vases (nothing else) and was basically ignored. I was told they were sending a check, never received one... then followed up a couple times and never heard back. After spending thousands and thousands of dollars on flowers with them, it is mind boggling to me that they cannot return a couple hundred dollars that we are owed. Our wedding reception was last May (2021) so they have had plenty of time. Does not seem ethical to me at all and because of this I will not use them for any future events or recommend them.

When I popped over to the shop to see if she could give me some advice (the open sign was visible so I assumed she was open but I guess she wasn't), Caitlin didn't even let me in her store, she said "well I don't know what you want me to do", and she didn't even inspect the plant. She treated me as if I was a threat to her. Speaking to some other folks in my neighborhood she had apparently treated them the same way. I don't think she really cares for the patronage of Black people even though she sits in the middle of a very Black neighborhood. She keeps her doors locked during business hours and seems to be developing a reputation of being nasty to customers, specifically Black customers based on my chats and some of her other reviews. With the poor customer service and the low quality plants/ flowers it may not be worth the cost.
