This review is due to a wax that I got a while back. I've gotten a Brazilian waxing at this location that was not thorough whatsoever; I forgot the lady's name that did it but she was the manager and was blonde. I went ahead and wrote to their customer service dept and the owner got back to me which was nice and she proceeded to schedule me for another complimentary Brazilian due to the terrible job the other girl did. I had to end up shaving the rest and wait it out another 4 to 6 weeks to get waxed again -_- So then came round 2. A nice australian lady did the wax and it was a lot better than the previous job by the other lady. I know that they can't get EVERY single hair out, but the other girl that did the waxing previously was seriously lacking in her skill. One star for being pretty thorough for the most part and one star for good customer service. However, the owner and esthetician both pushed me a ton to get a bunch of ingrown hair treatments and a paddle exfoliating brush that I already had and I ended up walking out with buying the same amount that the wax had originally cost (around $55). I won't be returning and wouldn't recommend them. There are far better estheticians out there and it seems like all they really want is your money. And I found it a bit weird to have the owner in there examining my lady parts when the esthetician was waxing me....talk about awkward. Check out sugaring hair removal by Dillan O'Neal at Flawless Faces in Costa Mesa. She's incredible and gets all the hair gone! Plus you're smoother for a longer time. Worth the extra $5 more than a subpar $55 brazilian that they offer here. read more

I've been going to The Pretty Kitty since August 2013 and I'll never go to another place. This place is super clean and the staff is great! I was scared to get my first Brazilian wax but I knew I would love it after I tried it and I'm so glad I went through with the waxing. I'll be going here forever! The waxing is super fast and doesn't hurt as bad as I thought. It is so worth it! I love this salon so much that I get other things waxed as well. They don't just do Brazilians. They do everything! I've had Lindsay, Johanna, and Cindy all wax me, and they are all fantastic. Cindy is my favorite and I'll continue to go to her for all my waxing. She makes you feel comfortable, and she is super fast with waxing that we just talk and before I know it, I'm done! She does a great job at waxing and shes really great at making you feel at ease. If you are thinking about getting a Brazilian, and I highly recommend it, go to this place, you will love it and you will love your Brazilian!! read more

Before the Pretty Kitty opened, I used to drive with a handful of ladies down to San Diego for hard wax. I'm so glad we stumbled upon the PK now! It's close and reasonably priced and the services are always fast AND virtually painless - seriously. I used to stick with one esthetician and was hesitant to try another one when she was transferred to another store but once I built up the nerve I now feel comfortable being seen by an any of their estheticians; all are trained by The Pretty Kitty before seeing clients. Honestly nobody LIKES to get waxed. This is the best option out there. It's clean, and relatively quick. Every time I have been there I am on my way in 15 minutes max. I wouldn't say it's pain free, but comparatively speaking its not so bad. I don't want to really have a conversation with the esthetician when having my hair ripped out, so I appreciate the speed and it being as discreet as possible. I came in a couple weeks ago to try out the pretty kitty experience because my sister-in-law is a regular here. I have gotten the Brazilian done before at a couple different places and it wasn't bad. Each time, it took about 30 minutes but I was told to go to Johanna and she rocked it! It was the fastest wax ever and she did an amazing job! Love coming here to get my eye brows waxed!!! I always have an issue with break outs after I get my eyebrows waxed or threated from other places. This is the only place that I do not get break outs with!!! All the girls are professional and very sweet! It's my first time ever getting a Brazilian Wax & i can honestly say Jessica did a good job . I came in 15-20 minutes before my appointment and she took me in right away. I previously did a review and being my first time I thought I'd try it again. So I just went back this week for a Brazilian for the second time. I left and when I got home I still had hair in some areas and ended up tweeting it myself. This should be done there!!! I have been waxing for years and I've never seen hair after the wax. I'm not impressed with this. I'm trying somewhere different that takes their time to make sure the client is getting what they pay for. read more

My first time here I was treated very rudely. The staff made me feel very uncomfortable, tried to upsell me and forgot my name twice in two minutes. The treatment was horrible! I came for a wax since it seemed a nice place with good aesthetics and design, however the woman performing my treatment was inexperienced. She proceeded to explain to me that I could get a full Brazilian because they "didn't do that area" and then explain exfoliation to me. This was a marketing scheme, as at the end they handed me an exfoliation how-to card and tried to again explain. Redundancy. This place came highly recommended by a friend and they happened to have a groupon last wk, so it was time i checked it out. I loved it, very clean and nice, they were very professional. Lindsay was great, very knowledgeable, not painful, and very thorough!! My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that w/o a groupon it would have cost $55 plus tip. Bought a Groupon for two Brazilians... The first one went great. No complaints at all. I don't remember who the waxer was but she was very professional and made it as comfortable you can be while getting a Brazilian. Place was clean, easy to find and cute decor. One problem... been trying to schedule my second wax and no one will pick up the phone. I checked the business hour to make sure they were open, and they are, but I've repeatedly called for the last few hours with no response. read more

Awesome place! Was a little worried because I have only ever done hard wax Brazilians and heard that soft waxing hurts more...boy, were they wrong! I had two prior waxes by another establishment I had found on Groupon and left both times with blistered and torn skin. Naturally I was nervous to go back down the Brazilian route. However, upon returning to the Pretty Kitty those nerves quickly went away. Jasmine, my esthetician, put me at ease and worked quickly and professionally. She didn't pause during conversation (which tends to draw out the service) and I left after my appointment feeling exceedingly comfortable with her. It was a great experience for my 1st time getting waxed in all those areas. And the 2nd visit was an even much better experience. It was quicker, faster and I was done a lot sooner than I realized.
