When you book, you have an initial consultation with someone from their team who asks thoughtful questions about your style and preferences, and then they match you with DJs based on your vision. That's how we were paired with Andrew. Their communication and planning tools were fantastic. They provide an online portal where you and your DJ can both input and update everything from song requests to timeline details. I had several follow-up calls with Andrew to make sure he really understood our vibe -- and on the day of, the energy and music were absolutely perfect. The ceremony went off without a hitch, and once the dancing started, Andrew really shined. His transitions, timing, and song selections for the dance party were spot-on -- the exact fun, high-energy vibe we were hoping for. Our guests were raving about how much fun they had, and the dance floor stayed full the entire time. There were a couple of minor hiccups -- our ceremony ran long, and Andrew needed about an hour to reset for the reception (which we knew beforehand but did not account for), so there was a short delay outdoors in the heat. And there were a few moments of uncertainty for what was happening next -- but honestly, those were small things that only I or the planner would have noticed. On the day of the wedding, DJ Kia was so involved with every aspect of the ceremony and reception. They know through our interactions when I'm looking to make a purchase. In this case to upgrade my tenor sax. They are not pressure salesman. If they were, I would not be working with them, trust me on that. I bought a very nice, professional tenor sax at their Horn Showcase in December 2023. It seemed like the perfect choice. But as I really dug into it at home, I noticed one quirky thing. I informed them about it. I took it to my technician twice and talked to their technician as well. They heard and understood what was happening but nothing showed that was wrong to fix it. I informed Mike and Wes about this "thing" and they brought in another horn for me to try to see about an exchange. It was a more expensive horn, but the horn I bought even with the very annoying quirk played so much better. While I haven't decided if I'm going to return the sax or not, I will say how much of a pleasure it is and has been working with Mike and Wes over the years. They have been consumate professionals and consultative through this whole process as well. I am woodshedding the horn now, putting it through its paces. It seems to be working out, hopefully, as I adjust this and fiddle with that. One of my sax friends has the soprano model of my tenor and and alto by the same manufacturer shared that is a quirk in his horns as well. But he loves them all the same. I get it. The long and short of it is, this is my store and they are my dudes. In an age of rapidly declining customer service, I have nothing but the highest praises for them and the culture they've got going on over there. It has a small sign that does not catch my eye and is between a nail spa and a "cleaners". After all that I walked in expecting very little. A guy asked if I needed help and as I was still slightly miffed that it took me so long to find the place, I blew him off semi-politely. He kept asking and started joking but I wanted to hang on to being miffed a bit longer so I told him no thanks and continued to walk around. I found what I was looking for - piano music - but during this timeframe a young lady came in looking for an electric guitar. The guy behind the desk went right to work helping her, even though she tried to initially push him off as well. Within minutes he had helped her pick a guitar for the sound she was looking for, they were both sitting down and jamming, and he was showing her easier ways to transition between certain chords she was playing. Wow. The young man's name is Jessie. Absolute gold.
