My husband and I finally checked out The Prize Booth. We decided to go without the kids. We were amazed! Brought a lot of nostalgia to us. Toys we used to play with and newer toys as well. So many things to look at. If you haven't checked them out- it's a must. Family owned business- welcoming and friendly staff. Prices are average. Since, we don't have Toys R Us around- this is the place to go. I was told they update toys often. Will definitely swing by again. read more

When you walk in you feel like a child again with all the colorful toys, engaging books, clocks, stationary & stickers, just to name a few items packed in this small toy store. It is definitely a hidden gem in Castro Valley. I was looking mainly for vehicle themed items & managed to find a Memory Matching Game with Trucks & Buses. Then the Balloon Helicopter caught my attention. This store offers classic toys like the Playskool telephone seen in Toy Story. Rubik's cube, & a few more to name. This is THE absolute cutest toy store! I am so grateful to have a local toy store that has not only high quality products but also great customer service! Local family/owners Erin & Tim put their heart into this store and it shows. They are so helpful when shopping around and are very supportive of the Castro Valley community. My kiddos and I love coming into here to go shopping for birthday presents and love the options (tons of puzzles, art/crafts, science projects, dress up, dolls, cars, wooden toys galore with brands like Hape, Plan Toys, Tender leaf and my personal fave Maileg !). They rotate their merchandise to showcase seasonal toys so it's so easy to find what you need. But truthfully I love coming in here solo and letting my inner child shop around. read more

Really great assortment of toys! It is *THE* place to go for gifts for kids ranging in age from 0-12. They gift wrap and have cards on hand as well. Love coming here and they always have new stuff. Even if I didn't have kids, it is a fun store to shop. (Slingshots, puzzles, slime, crafts, and activities to name a few.) The owners are two of the most pleasant people I've ever met. My son and I had the BEST time visiting The Prize Booth! Not just a toy store, TPB also carries items adults and children of all ages can play with: space stuff, insects, play camping gear, art supplies, notebooks, an entire Taylor Swift section, to name a few! Everything was so carefully curated and displayed; I can tell the owners have a strong passion for and take pride in what they do. We settled on a slingshot and a plastic pan flute to take home to my other child. The price point for the items they sell are very reasonable and well worth what each item is. Such a great local gem. Worth the stop if you are in the area with kids. It's great to go with your kid to make a list of things they might like for a birthday (think wedding/shower registry). First time here and while the store presentation is nice and the toys fun and relatively reasonably priced, the customer service was poor. I couldn't even make a purchase because so much personal chatting was going on with the employee and other customers. We decided to put our items back on the shelf and left as we got tired of waiting for them to end their conversation. What a lovely toy store!! We are so happy to have a local you store that is so well curated. The toy selection and store layout is well thought out. My 3 year old daughter and I spent 2 hours here because she was immersed in play. They have displays of the majority of toys for kids to play with. We practice Montessori-ish principles so this store was excellent. Lots of wood and handcrafted sustainable toys. We saw some of our favorite brands like plan toys, and the owner said Grimms is coming soon - so excited. We will be regular customers and can't wait to go back. Also lots of crafts/art and some books. Even in the time we spent there, we didn't see everything because my daughter loved each item so much and didn't want to move on from play. Plenty of road-trip activities like an erasable coloring book, car bingo and squishy toys. Decorating a playroom or nursery? Come here to check out wall clocks, nightlights, climbing toys, play kitchen accessories (like the cappuccino maker) and more. Need a birthday gift? Stuffed animals, squishy toys, slinkies, incredible scented slime (we got lavender). Need kids off their devices? Erin and her husband do SUCH a fabulous job selecting their inventory, making sure you get a one on one experience so you feel important and valued, and every time time my kids come in, she greets them by name! I've been following their fun and creative posts on Instagram and today I took a break from work to visit the store. It's only a mile from CV Blvd, so I walked there. The store is beautifully displayed and very well organized. They have a great selection of merchandise and pride themselves on stocking toys which promote good old fashioned play and creativity. No video games here which is a positive. The owners Erin and Tim are local CV residents, and it was a pleasure to meet them. Even though I don't have any young children to buy toys for, I did purchase a fun clock and some stickers for my water bottle!
