I love the vibe here! This is a cute local grocer that has prepared, local, fruits, veggies, and a small selection of cheeses/meat/ spices/ dry goods. They carry some zingermans products and their catering is very convenient around the holidays. They carry Christmas trees in the winter and lots of herbs, flowers, etc outside in the warmer months. I *love* their quiches. They have become a holiday staple in our family on Christmas and Thanksgiving morning. Lately I've been coming for postpartum prepared meals because I know their ingredients are decent. Everything is a bit pricey, but I know the stuff is quality and we've had such a good experience with their catering department. That we will be shopping here for a long time. read more

Fun specialty grocery store! They live up to their namesake of Produce Station with a beautiful selection of fresh fruits and veggies, with a lot of local sourcing. Only place in town I could find rhubarb the last week of March - Michigan grown! I was surprised but delighted to browse their extensive selection of craft beers, ciders, and non-alcoholic beverages. This is definitely a good place to go if you're looking for something fun to try, or to bring something unique to a dinner party etc. They also have meat, dairy, a lot of ready-mades, and a nice looking salad bar. It is overall more expensive than other grocery stories, but presumably shopping here is supporting a local business and local farmers. read more

I've been going to the Produce Station for years and it's a cute little spot. The selection of produce is pretty good, however, that's never what I end up getting. Most recently I went to pickup some NA beers and the selection was excellent and you could even purchase most of them by the can. Overall it's on the pricier side and the parking lot is far from ideal, but definitely recommend. read more

I visited last week and though I've just moved to the area, this is my favorite store yet. The garden center had so many varieties of herbs my head was spinning. How many times have I driven past Produce Station since I moved to Ann Arbor? I don't know, but it's a lot. The place always seemed quaint. Like an old fashioned roadside farm stand of sorts. I was always curious about the spot, but I never stopped or ventured inside. When the pandemic came along, I saw Produce Station was listed on Mercato for deliveries, and I checked out the online site, but I wasn't quite inspired to make a purchase. Then, someone told me this small neighborhood market was one of the best places to buy beer in Ann Arbor. Curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to make a trip. Wow! Not only do they cary beer from the great small breweries of Ann Arbor, like HOMES and Mothfire, but this is where you can find all the beers with cult like followings from Michigan and beyond! I bought a four pack from Five Shores Brewing, and even found a single from Equilibrium in New York! Crazy. But it doesn't stop there, because this place is a food and beverage lover's paradise. I was floored by the extensive selection of vermouth and amaro. Perhaps it's not quite as extensive as one might find in the finest bars and liquor emporiums... however for a store this size it was remarkable. And that's not even getting to the food. They have treats from Zingerman's Bakehouse, and products from artisanal producers around the state and across the globe. I am a food and beverage lover, and I felt like a kid in a candy store. Now I get it! Looking forward to many future returns. Really, it's going to be the beer that brings me in, but I bet when I visit, there will be some food treat or another that I just won't be able to resist! And if you don't have a digestif on hand for your Thanksgiving celebrations, you're doing it wrong. Time to schedule a trip to Produce Station and pick up an amaro to help ease the effects of overindulgence. read more

Produce Station is an upscale grocer, tucked on the awkward lot at the intersection of State and Stimpson. Although relatively small in size, it offers an impressive array of produce, including hard to find items. There is a limited, curated selection of wines and cheeses, and baked goods are furnished by Zingerman's. A small chiller is stocked with meat and a convenient array of mise en place. Be forewarned, there are no frozen items, so do not expect to run in for last minute frozen peas. Outside, there is a tremendous nursery that appears nearly equivalent in square footage to the inside grocery. For me, however, the real draw of the Produce Station is the prepared meals that range from my favorite dill salmon to twice baked potatoes and hearty lasagna. The pre-made salads are also fantastic! The prices may seem a little steep, but the portions are so generous that the value is amazing and many of the dishes stretch to two to four meals for a single person. Overall, the Produce Station is a great destination for specialty items, your garden needs, and a lazy dinner where are you need to do is heat-and-eat! read more

I truly love the Produce Station. They are a combination of two of my favorite things, plant nursery and farmer's market-esq grocery store. The must have every kind of apple known to man. Their produce is amazing and their selection of imported snacks and sodas at the front of the store brought me back to happy days living in Europe. I mostly go for the grocery store aspect and the really wide and fresh selection of food they offer, but the plant nursery is also a really nice place to walk around in. Unfortunately, the prices are just a little too high for me to justify buying most of my groceries from here as opposed to a Meijer or a Kroger. Taking a moment to update my review to give props to the Produce Station for their awesome gardening selection. They have like 6 different types of basil, 5 different types of rosemary (I didn't even KNOW there was more than one type of rosemary), loads of delicious lettuces, tomato plants, and more. Plus some really lovely annuals and perennials that were very impressive. Staff is incredibly nice and helpful. I'm definitely a novice when it comes to gardening and had a few questions about some of the plants and they were more than patient and didn't talk down to me. Definitely didn't make me feel like a moron or anything! The prices here are higher than where I usually go to buy my plants (Block's in Romulus) but they have some really lovely and unique selections that just aren't found any other place in the area. So to me they're worth the splurge to round out my yard a bit with all these special items. It helps round out the garden and makes it delicious and beautiful to boot! read more

They have now teamed up with Mercato and provide grocery delivery. It was easy to shop, delivery slots were available, my groceries arrived in the specified window, and my order was accurate. During the COVID-19 Stay Home Stay Safe order, it's been extremely difficult to order groceries for pick up or delivery from the other grocery stores, but this worked like a dream. Delivery is free over $50 (?) and the price includes a tip for the delivery person. They left my groceries on my front porch and texted and emailed me to let me know they were there. read more

Super overpriced. I used to justify shopping here thinking the quality must be top notch and the food local or in support of small farms and businesses. Bought this snack with a giant "Produce Station" label on top thinking it was freshly dehydrated/baked veggies. Nope, label on back says in small print "product of Vietnam." Probably the same thing bought in bulk that I could get at Kroger or Walmart for half the price. So misleading. Makes me skeptical of their prepared food. Won't be going back. read more

I've been shopping here for a many years and I love this place the most of anywhere in Ann Arbor for their ready-made lunches and dinners. There's a great variety and almost everything is very fresh, delicious, and worth the premium price. I especially enjoy their Greek salad, soups, and wraps! Oh yeah, and for a good discount, come in right after they open in the morning when items are marked down 50%. Love the concept of this store but if you care at all about supporting a local business with good labor practices you absolutely should NOT shop here. Head management takes advantage of good employees and overworks them to the point of burnout and then some. They don't pay livable wages to any employee there, even managers have to have 2nd jobs to afford basic needs while working more than full time hours at the produce station. Their behind the scenes practices absolutely do not align with the image they portray to the public. I personally will never shop here again based solely on how employees are treated. read more

I haven't personally tasted their goods, but their customer service and attention to detail merits these five stars whole heartedly! My best friend and her husband moved to MI from AL and I wanted to send them a house warming gift that would help them feel at home. They love local foods and markets, so in searching I quickly stumbled upon the Produce Station. I called and left a VM last night (it was after COB) and bright and early this morning Brandon called me back. I told him about my friends-- what they liked, etc-- and my price range and he came up with an amazing custom basket! It was made up and delivered in just a few hours. They already received it and LOVE it. I am seriously impressed. Just moved to A2 and was at the Produce Station looking for some local produce and plants. The percentage of the "local" product is not great at all, and the general price is much higher than nearby Trade Joe's if I don't care for the "local" part. There are some good selections of herb plants though. I found the licorice basil, which is not as common. Good place to check out some herbs unique and hard to find, but not good at all for daily grocery need. read more

Billy Res, the Catering Manager at Produce Station is a gem. He worked with me on an event I hosted this summer and his excellent food suggestions and organization of all the rentals needed made everything go so smoothly. He & his team arrived on time and were efficient at getting the food set up. He went above and beyond counseling me on how to arrange tables and set up the room logistically and aesthetically. At one point I told him I thought I was having a heart attack (kind of a Type A person), and his calm, confident demeanor got me through. I love the Produce Station. read more

If you can imagine a small, local version of Whole Foods, with just as much variety, and probably more flavor per square foot, then you might be getting close to picturing The Produce Station. I live 500 miles away, and still follow its facebook feed to see what fruits and vegetables are in season, and what's new in the store. The only con I can think of is that pushing a cart is like riding a bumper car. Otherwise, it's an amusement park for the taste buds, my favorite part being the hot bar - salad bar. For me, a really good Ann Arbor trip includes at least one visit to the Produce Station. read more

Five years, FIVE YEARS I've lived in Ann Arbor and have frequented PS's neighboring Salvation Army dozens of times and for all this time I thought the Produce Station was nothing but a nursery with maybe a couple of baskets of farmer's market fruits and veggies. Man am I an idiot. Today I finally sauntered into the area with the awning that says 'cafe' and instead what I found was a full-fledged grocery store with a salad bar, lots of artisanal pre-made sandwiches, meats, cheeses, pre-made lunches and dinners inspired by various countries, imported sweets from Germany and elsewhere, fruits, veggies, fancy juices, and Zingermann's breads. I am eyeing the $13 pint of goat cheese cherry gelato - maybe one day I will be able to cough up the money for that puppy. What a haven for hippie-dippy-yuppies, explorative-foodies, and health-food-lovers. The prices seem about at the Whole Foods level but slightly under the People's Food Co-op but to be honest the only thing I purchased was a single banana (and it was good!). Workers seem friendly. Atmosphere is pretty mellow. And the produce does, in fact, seem to warrant the business's name as it is plentiful and fresh. read more

What a great place! I'm pretty sure that is what I was thinking the first time I left the Produce Station. Of course there are loads of produce to choose from at all times of the year. And spring has load of new plants for your garden. But the thing that gets me is the salad bar and the warm food section. They really do have one of the better salad bars around, with homemade dressings. One look at the Thousand Island will prove that. Every day two soups are featured as well as two main dishes. Tuesdays are always Taco Tuesdays, while Thursdays are always the Baby back ribs. But if that does not thrill you, they have loads of meals in the back that are heat n eat. Even Sheppards Pie and Quiche. If I could I would go there each and every day. Oh and I should mention the staff are really nice and willing to help you at a moments notice. read more

Best salad bar around! This review is mainly for the salad bar although the Produce Station is a very high quality produce shop they are very high priced so I tend to get produce elsewhere. They do have fresh baked Zingerman's bread which I buy! YUM! The salad bar is amazing! All the typical options plus side salads like asian noodles, etc. The soups are delicious! The ingredients are super fresh and I just love it! Seasonally they have plants and landscape decor. I always shop there at the end of the season because, again, they have fantastic plants and pots but super high priced. Produce Station enhances the quality of my life. Lovely prepared foods and a very nice selection of produce and specialty items. It's expensive, but I would not say it is overpriced. If it did not lighten my wallet so, it would get five stars. The difference between this place and a Whole Foods (three stars) is that here you feel and taste the love. It's got soul. Its only other weakness aside from the price point is that it used to suffer from a lack of varied and extensive meat selections. That problem is solved now, though. The addition of Biercamp has turned this dusty ol' stretch of concrete and train track into quite the culinary agglomeration. The two together are more than the sum of their parts. read more

Tucked over the train tracks and across from the golf course, it's a wonderful little store filled with all top quality produce and dairy, select wines, homemade salads and sandwiches, and a little bit of grocery items. Produce Station catered my daughter's wedding last week, and the rehearsal dinner, and made boxed lunches for the bridal party for the day of the wedding. They even provided decorations for the tables. I have to say I was a little concerned about having such a small operation cater such a large event, but everything was spectacular. The food was delicious, the presentation was lovely, and the staff could not have been nicer. They even boxed up the leftovers for our day after party. I enjoy walking over from working at Ann Arbor Market Center Keller Williams to get a packaged lunch of fresh salmon, salad, fresh fruit in bite size pieces with cottage cheese for $8.00. So far I really like this Market! I absolutely love their wide variety of Fresh produce. My absolute favorite is their "Roma Tomato & Imported Double Cream Brie Sandwich!!" Their customer service has been consistently pleasant. In fact, during my very first visit with my husband, one of the store clerks actually suggested that I try the Double Cream Brie Sandwich. I'm glad that I did! I will be returning not just for the food, but because I felt so welcomed! read more

For a student like myself, the Produce Station is a place to hit when I'm looking for a specialty item or a healthy, filling meal on the go. STRENGTHS: seriously every fruit or veggie you could want, an AMAZING cheese section, fresh bread counter with all the Zingerman's hits, and a big Red Mill section for grainy basics. I love the Produce Station because I know I can get good-quality fresh produce all year round. I can have a watermelon in the winter, if I want. I also know that I could do all my shopping here if I wanted to drop a lot of money. You can get good cheeses here, some wine or beer, pre-packaged foods (my favorite is the chocolate almond truffle). They have selections of gourmet pastas, sauces, sardines in pretty cans, Fage (a healthy yogurt substitute for sour cream and tastes exactly like it) and they sell Hour (a Detroit publication) at the check-out lane. Near the check-out lane is Zingerman's bread if you want it. You can grab a bite at the salad bar if you want. The best part is the fresh fruit, if you ask me. The produce is fresher and better looking than what they have at your grocery store. It's stacked more carefully--some places, you see them just dump fruit from the box, and you know it's getting bruised. Pricy, but I think the quality justifies it. They also have prepackaged foods and a salad bar, but be prepared to spend as much as you would to dine out. There are dairy products, meats and a bakery section that includes Zingerman's bread. I usually don't buy any of those things at the Produce Station, because I know I can shop for them elsewhere, probably with a better selection and lower prices. My favorite place to shop for prepared foods as well as fresh produce and bread. The only drawback is the small space so if you are one that doesn't love your neighbor then wait to shop off hours otherwise you will be rubbing up against someone. I highly recommend the soups and the walnut/cranberry/chicken salad. Yum. Also the breads are amazing as well as the outdoor plant selection. For the most part I don't particularly care for the Produce Station's general/staples produce...but I DO appreciate the stocking of unusual, seasonal vegetables (such as Ramps, heirloom potatoes, etc.) so if you are looking for this sort of produce you will likely find it, or they will order you some if you need a large-enough quantity (case or more). I really like PS's salad bar, salads, and refrigerated entrees: reasonably priced, feed 2-3 people, and are very tasty for ready-made. Their catering selections are good as well, high-quality, nice presentation. I cannot stand the claustrophobia of the interior - and unfortunately PS can attract some real "gems" of the local community: rude, entitled, rushed, and prone to bashing their almost-empty cart repeatedly into your back if you do not "give right-of-way to his/her Majesty" fast enough. My remedy is to go at on off-hours/off days...Tuesday during the day (NOT lunchtime) is a favorite of mine if I can swing it. Staff are very, very nice. read more

I love me some fruits and vegetables. Produce Station provides both, at pretty decent prices. They also sell ZIngerman's bread (only buy the monthly special, dudes!), and honor the little frequent buyer cards, if you're a big huge nerd like me. They have awesome pre-made spring mix, which lasts a good week and is always tasty (Rotty spring mix is the bane of my existence...). The one bad thing is that the store itself is so freaking tiny that using a cart is laughable. read more
