So amazing this beautiful representation of the miracles of Jesus and the days leading to His crucifixion. This amazing cast of over 150 actors have been going on for over 35 years. I was amazed I hadn't heard of it before. This is a huge outdoor amphitheater built for the various plays they have over the year. This was the last play for this season but I am looking forward to more of the same. The acting, amazing singing and dancing was a joy to witness. read more

The Promise is a popular Christian production. It is located in Glenrose but, it is well worth the drive. It's worth the money and time you spend. The cast is stellar. Their emotions and facial expressions bring the musical to life. The music was entertaining. The cast was singing and dancing happily! You could see how much the actors enjoyed performing. They wanted to be there and their performance came from the heart. There was a female worship Pastor who performed three worship songs before the production. It was meant to set the mood for the audience. She performed How great thou Art. She was no Carrie Underwood but she was good! She got the message across and that's the point. May God receive all the Glory. As she concluded she teared up. I think, it's because she knows how great God is. There's lots of parking. Concession stand serves canned soda, popcorn, nachos, hot dogs, chips and Bbq sandwiches. They also have coffee. I hear it's tasty and one of a kind. The Concession stand ran out of a few items. The lines were long. So, get there early and head to the concession stand or you will miss the show standing in line. There's also a gift shop and a Potter's Presentation. The staff is helpful taking your tickets and showing you to your seat. There was a line for them to take your ticket. This made it crowded and slowed down entering the amphitheater. Some people went passed the elderly man who taking the tickets. The prologue was thought provoking. It reminded me of John 10: 27-28 My sheep hear my voice. The sheep ran away and Rueben wanted him back but, was having no luck when he yelled for him. Then a Shepardess, Chaya said , call him gently and he came! Personally, this scene spoke volumes to me. When we call on the name on the Lord, he hears us. I have to ask myself, how am I speaking to the Father? Am I gentle when I speak to God or do I tell at him? The play focused on the miracles of Jesus. He calmed the storm, even the wind and waves obeyed him. Demons fleed from him, he healed the sick, and over came the devil. The setting was in an upper balcony with an inmate setting with ver candid conversations about God. Jesus ministered to children. He got down to their level to speak to them. The crucifiction was wrenching. The reenactment was so real. The death burial and resurrection of Jesus is powerful. It's amazing. There is no one like our God. There is no one, that can do the things he can do! I'm asking you right now. If you have not accepted Christ into your life. Would you do so today? Just say, " I admit I am a sinner. I believe Christ died for my sins and confess that Jesus is lord. Amen. read more

I surprised my wife after a 2hr drive, on where i was taking her. The place is beautiful way out in no where for us. We arrived early so we would not miss nothing of tonights performance. Arrive early to beat the gate rush. The concourse and main building seems a bit small (crowded in) for the venue. The seating and stage is extraordinarily. Not a bad seat in the place and spaced out, the dynamic of sound is A1 and professionally mixed perfect. Lighting and Special Effects outstanding. I am going to try and give a honest review without ruining the experience for you. There has been a lot of time and energy put into the Sets, Lighting, Rehearsals and Training of the animals to achieve what they did tonight. You can feel the passion that each actor puts into his character during the singing parts and then their dialogue. The opening singers were wonderful also. The concessions prices were good The actual ticket price was good, will pay that again (only issue online charges you an additional $3.00 per ticket) Also, I do not like having to down load an app to get my tickets to my phone, just email me a pdf receipt to me I would prefer. Parking is $10 per car, Lots of Handicap Parking. At the end you can meet the cast. The actual wife of the Actor who played Peter, prayed with my wife for healing of her mom who is having health issues right now. That speaks volumes to me. read more

Back in the late 90s I went with our church adult group. we checked the weather the day before and it showed sunshine and beautiful weather, so we all wore shorts. unfortunately Texas weather changes fast!, and it was raining and cold when we arrived. This being an outdoor event was not going to work without the proper attire we needed! we bought plastic trashbags and used them as our coats! we cut holes in them to put our head and arms through. Warmth! After that we settled down and we enjoyed the most wonderful production of Jesus life story. for anyone who has not been here to see this, I highly recommend it. Beautifully played out. Who knew that in the tiny town of Glen Rose was an incredible outdoor theater. Just a couple of minutes off the main road, you come upon a huge paved parking lot. Entering thru the stone and metal gates, you are met by multiple concession stands serving all the normal stuff and a few really good things, like big bags of kettle popcorn! Bathrooms on both ends. Going past these buildings, you are greeted by a huge covered stage and permanent seating for 3000. I'm impressed! Lighting and sound systems were very good. The whole facility is just awesome. Each week a different musical group does a 45 minute pre show. The Promise is the story of the life of Jesus Christ. It's done quite well and will keep you interested. Show is about 2 1/2 hours with one intermission. Just remember, with 3000 people, lines are long for everything. Only 4 stars cause they need to pay more attention to the bathrooms. Got pretty messy. Definitely worth the trip if you are Interested in a biblical story in a great setting. read more

I was grateful the Hebrew roots of our Messiah to have been such a large part of the show this year. There were songs and prayers in Hebrew, Shabbat blessings, along with traditional Jewish dancing. Good for the entire family. Easy to follow and understand. Entertaining. Highly recommend. Dress in layers or bring a blanket as it can get chilly at night. I'd recommend spending the night in Glen Rose as it gets out late and if you're driving far (I live in Dallas) then it's a stretch on a one lane road. plus, there's a lot to do in Glen Rose so make a nice get away of it! read more

We saw one of the last performances for this year. It was the fifth time we had been to see The Promise in Glen Rose. It was by far the best performance we have seen. We loved having one storyteller that had a beautiful voice. Also the inclusion of Jewish traditions, the dance, prayer shawls etc. Just loved it! read more

Not so fast with the glowing review. Although the performers are top shelf the venue and staff is lacking. A hint to the staff in reference to the restrooms, before each performance power wash the restrooms and clear the cobwebs from above areas. I understand many of your customers are professed Christians but they are still human and are not always extending courtesy to all attending, so please patrol the isles for potential issues. Now onto my main issue: I bought premiere tickets for me and my families as the program begin I noticed the couple behind us was speaking quite loudly during the play. I turned around and gave them the stare but they continued, I asked them to stop but said nothing and continued. This continued for 30 minutes till I left to seek help. I finally found all of the staff at the gate and for me walking with a cane made it very difficult to accomplish. I communicated the problem many times to them but they weren't interested in hearing it. I missed the first half of the play trying to get help just to hear their solution was to move me and my family and not addressing the problem makers. My wife and I moved but my children refused to give in to the bullies and they missed the quality of the other half of the performance. Even in real America away from the hustle and bustle of the city they also are afraid they might offend anyone. They had a great teaching moment but failed. read more
