The food and selection had a variety. Plenty of parking and easy access. The service was disappointing. The waitress never came and checked on us after we received our meals. We felt like they were short staffed and rushed us to leave. Brought over the bill without even asking if we wanted anything else. This is our "go-to" restaurant in Waverly. We have always gotten excellent service and great food.

Food was ok. It looks awesome, but was slightly disappointing. I got the chicken finger platter, which came with four large breaded chicken tenders and fries. The chicken may have been overcooked because the breading was darker than I was used to, and was tough to cut or chew. The chicken inside was moist, tender, and tasted get. I asked for BBQ sauce and it came with what looked like a fine salsa or marinara sauce that tasted good, but was not what I was expecting. The French Fries are excellent! My daughter got the Shells and Cheese, and she was immediately not happy with it. She said it was more milky than cheesy. I tasted it, and it wasn't bad, but didn't have the cheesy taste she was looking forward to. To me, it was more like the cheese sauce was watered down rather than milky. But then my son said he'd eat it so it didn't go to waste. My wife got the Reuben with potato salad and enjoyed it. Son got Fish 'n' Chips. Fish was ok, with large pieces. He seemed more interested in the shells and cheese. Service was fine. Waiter filled drinks and checked on us a few times. No problems. Atmosphere was fine too. It wasn't loud for 6:00pm on a Thursday. It was nice. In conclusion, even though the food had some minor setbacks I would go here again and probably order something different. read more

I have been here a couple of times and have mixed feelings. Some dishes are terrific and some are below average. First - their onion rings are the best I have found in the area. Thin, fresh and the batter is seasoned perfectly. Most highly recommended. Secondly, the staff is friendly and efficient. No issues there. The chicken fried steak is under-whelming as is the gravy that accompanied it. Steer clear. Same can be said for the sliced roast beef and gravy. Really a disappointment. The side dishes are pedestrian (the corn was clearly out of a can - which struck me as odd since there's so much fresh corn available in the area)...and the craft beers are good - but fairly expensive. Would I take friends or family here? Probably not. But we might return just for the terrific onion rings. read more

They did a really tasteful job of carrying the theme throughout this place. We were in on a Friday night and I would say it is more restaurant than bar, which is fine because the food was really tasty. We had the backwoods cuban, jackalope (french dip), and the steak salad (can't remember the clever name). The fries were abundant but you'll have to add your own salt, and the veggies (parmesan broccoli) was good but I wish I would have just asked for steamed. Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The eating area was fairly busy with large family parties. I had the Greek chicken salad and husband had a grilled chicken sandwich. Both meals were good, not great. My salad had a good amount of chicken and my husband's fries were very good (the batter fried kind). I also had a milk stout which was tasty. Stopped in for lunch and Lindsay steered us to the AMAZING Fish & Chips. Real, fresh fish - not a board foot of bland breading - and some of the best french fries we've had in a while. I rated their tenderloin 6*s+ earlier in the year on a pickup order. It was tender and beyond fabulous. However, we recently did a dine in and ordered a tenderloin and a meatloaf dinner. The sandwich did not remotely resemble the " best tenderloin in Iowa" as it was some months ago. It was overcooked and crusty, not the tender and juicy sandwich we had before. My wife's meal, including the soup, was terribly salty and barely edible. Come on guys, you can do better than this! Not sure if I'll be back or not. read more

This was my first time eating here. The lunch crowd was almost non-existent, but the wait for the food was as if it was a busy Friday night. It took so long for the food to come out. I ordered the onion rings, which after reading all the reviews on here, I have to agree that the onion rings are pretty good! I knocked off one star, however, because they charge $0.50 for dipping sauce. If you order Ranch or another dressing, you will get charged $0.50. Or, at least, I was charged $0.50. Had I known that when ordering, because they don't have that disclaimer listed next to their available dressings on their menu, I wouldn't have ordered any dipping sauce. Had out of town guests in this week and came here for dinner on a Thursday evening. At 6:30 pm, was not very busy in bar or restaurant. Food was great (reuben, tenderloin, fries) and plentiful. Staff was exceptional, although service was slow. First impressions, however, are everything. The entrance into the bar area is filthy, and the floor throughout was sticky. Our guest would not order food, and stated "if the entry to the establishment is this dirty, imagine what the kitchen must be like". How about a little power washing at The entryway? read more

I thoroughly enjoy this restaurant! Many microbrews on tap, bottles, and cans to choose from. I like that the owners change up the selection too. The food is wonderful, I've had the Reuben a few times. It's made with corn beef and cabbage and not sauerkraut, not traditional, but delicious!! The Bigfoot bowl is more food than I can handle and I always take leftovers with me. The prices compared with the portions are plentiful. I honestly feel that they are practically giving away food for free!! Even the appetizers are a meal in themselves. Starting on the 25th of September they will begin a lunch menu as well!!
