Great little pub/restaurant for watching the games. We caught both the Rangers and Avalanche games as they both started around noon. Arianna was our server/bartender and as usual sweet, friendly, fun and helpful. We ordered the Rueben again and gosh everyone, I think it was even tastier than the last time. Johnny ordered Nashville hot wings (mostly to go as I needed help on my Rueben). Back to the Rueben, it's grilled to perfection, the corned beef is piled high and the sauerkraut so delicious. No soggy sandwich here. This is a place you get to know folks as only our 4th or 5th time in and already we recognize folk. We also noticed most people were eating, not just drinking, which further ads to my thoughts and experiences so far as a fun spot and good food. Local Irish pub with good drink deals and tasty wings. Not a huge selection of craft beers, but the domestic buckets are a bargain. It's a large space with pool tables in the back and plenty of TVs for watching sports. Service at the bar was fast. Wings were delicious! We got stingin-honey garlic. Found myself hungry in Shelton and didn't know where to go but I liked the open-ness I saw here when I walked by! They have a table with stools facing the street and a side patio where you can sit or play pool further back but still enjoy a nice weather day! Staff was super sweet and attentive - I asked if they could do a grilled cheese and they went above and beyond for me. I am also kind of a fry snob and these were A+ ! Ordered the hot honey barbecue wings, and they were diabolically hot. I like spicy and I couldn't eat more than one, there was no honey or barbecue flavor, just hot. I told the bartender that they were too hot to eat and he replied "well that's why the first word is hot". The wings would've been good if there was any flavor besides hell worthy hot. Don't recommend those and didn't appreciate the bartenders sass. read more

Place is terrible. Staff is the worst. They were trying to serve me 10oz draft beers at 6.2% 10/12oz pours in any place start at 8% beers. Rip OFF. I tried to voice my opinion and basically got kicked out by a bouncer. And no, I was not even drunk. Had two 6.2%. Guys are jerks. Thought the pub was a super cool place that my husband and I stopped by during our Christmas trip to CT! We wanted to be able to watch the football games on Christmas Eve and there were limited places open that had NFL ticket, but the pub was one of them! There were a couple of other guests in there at the time, but not many. To our surprise, most of them were Packers fans like us! The service was speedy and helpful. The bartender gave us recommendations for apps based on our preferences and handed us a Sunday/football special menu that had both drinks and apps on it. We got the zucchini fries and loved them! They were crispy and filled with cheese. Some marinara dipping sauce on the side too. Definitely hit the spot. Would come back when in the area for a laid back game day. read more

Went yesterday for some beers and to watch some football. This place is great. Nice crowd, friendly and attentive staff. They have buckets of beers, great deal 4 domestic beers for 12$. Stopped here for lunch yesterday after trying to go to the Dew Drop Inn, which was packed. Walked in and noticed that there was only one other person in the place around 1:00. Ok I think we found our new comfi spot. The bar tender couldn't have been kinder or better. Her drinks we spot on and she was so friendly, polite and just nice! They have delicious crinkle fries, similar to the ones that Porky used to sell before they lost their way. Only issue is, they are $7, and the basket is pretty small. Wings were descent, they are big in size, but not as good as porkys wings. read more

I was here with a group of friends celebrating a friends birthday. I came in an Uber with leftovers from the restaurant we came from. The staff repeatedly told me it was unacceptable for me to be holding food from another restaurant, even though we came To celebrate a friends birthday and give them a lot of business. The friend who's birthday it was opened his present which was a bottle of whisky, and the owner came out AND SAID WE HAD TO GO! We left with pleasure, because no one should be treated that way. I must say walking into The Pub I wasn't sure what to expec. I used to go there years age (30) when I was called Sully's. Well as soon as I walk thru the doors I knew someone with customer service skills and bar/pub and restaurant experience took it over. The bar was full (a good sign he had 3 bartenders there) no backup. We sat down fo some food to watch the game. Wing, spot on, one of the best juicy burgers i ever had came out fast with a tasty steak and chees. The thing that knocked our socks off were the Irush Egg Roll. Taste bite the whole way thru. And they were rolled perfectl. Service was awesom, the owner Dan came by to check couple times as did his wife Linda. Jake at the bar had a huge ego. I gave him minor feedback and his ego was an issue and ended up kicking me out. First time in my life that has ever happened. He charged me $17 for a martini and upcharged me and kicked me out after giving feedback. I just moved in the neighborhood and would NEVER come back. Bartender is too egotistical to give feedback too. Environment is toxic. Bartender is unable to create an enviorment where new customers are welcome. Bad ownership decision to keep someone like that will come back. Lost a consistent customer. Will never come back again unfortunately. 0/10. Location is great though. While the pub has hands down the best bar food in the area I can't help but give them two stars. As a young professional who moved here for work, I find it hard to come anymore since I need MY PASSPORT TO EVEN ENTER! Yes I said passport. While I understand this new bar policy, I do not understand why they do not have a light check or even a book. Rather I was singled out among my friends who all Connecticut IDs, and thankfully lived within walking distance to go home and grab my passport, because according to them I needed an image of myself and name. My Vaccine card did not even count!! I have come to the Pub on many occasions and never had this treatment. Maybe it was because my friends and I chose to go on a Saturday night? So beware people. If you have a little bit of a baby face and an out of state license, you need your passport to even consider walking in!!! read more

The decor and pub physical plant is beautiful. Growing up in the "valley" bars were commonplace and only a few really stood out. Matty's brick house comes to mind. Any way, we walk in a take a seat at the bar. To me, there is nothing worse than being greeted by a bartender chonking on her gum loudly with an open mouth. So much for wanting to eat while you look at somebody chewing in your face. Dinner immediately out. Now the good points. The beer list is solid with a nice mix of drafts. Beer is ice cold and there was free popcorn. On a final note, the bartender also has the loudest shrilled voice ever think Fran drescher on st As always we try and return to places that we have given a negative or average review. Tonight we had a great experience especially compared to the last two times we visited. Tonight we were greeted by a warm and friendly bartender named Kim. A complete 180 from our last horrid visit. She was attentive and even suggested a drink to one person in our party when they couldn't make up their mind. It was great a coconut mojito. The sweet potato fries were cooked just right. Very friendly and let me know about all their specials and happy hour deals. So. I am an out of towner and come here every time I stay in Shelton. The staff, food, and specials are great! Look at rest of reviews. Unfortunately, upon arriving today, I saw who appears to be "Ashley M" and her white trash boyfriend screaming at two female bartenders over an obvious miscommunication. Like an episode of COPS. These two savages were obviously incapable of social interaction. What kind of grown man screams at two young ladies at 5:15pm in a local tavern? This is a great spot, and the people are really cool. Amazing service, delicious food! We had a small group go after a memorial for a loved one. The waitresses were incredibly attentive, the food and drinks came quickly, and the atmosphere was perfect. Best wings in CT. Some other places are excellent if you want maple butter bacon and other exotic flavors. But for perfectly cooked buffalo wings with crispy no-sog skin, these are the best I've had. Been eating them for 10 years and I miss them when I can't have them. read more

Super confused by the positive reviews here. The crowd is very odd and off putting and it was absolutely freezing. Not chilly- like bone chillingly cold to the point where everyone was wearing their coats at the bar. Granted- we didn't eat so I cannot speak about the food but this bar will not last. The decor and the sad clientele are enough to ensure this place will face the same fate of the bars that came before it. Besides my company- this experience was super crappy. If you're looking for a spot to freeze., drink beer, and people watch- then this is the place for you. Came in for the first time tonight and was blown away. I cannot believe I didn't come here sooner. It's a blend of a gorgeous English pub with a bit of a quirky vibe with. Backwards letters that can only be seen the right way in the mirror. The service is fantastic and the drinks great. Haven't tried the food yet but I've heard only great things so far. I didn't give it five stars because it's a bit dark inside and parking is difficult (you park on the street). Really nice, refreshing change for the downtown Shelton district. Cozy atmosphere, great decor, and appropriately "pubby". Bar was full, lively respectful crowd on a spring-like night (in February?!) with the front windows open sending out good vibes onto the avenue. Thumbs and bottoms up!
