We went down home for the Machias ATV Jamboree (which was basically rained out!) and were told about The Public House. I am thrilled a restaurant of that quality has opened! The area needs it! The whole experience was excellent! I had a latte to start and it was very good expresso and perfectly creamy. The pan seared Haddock was one of the best I have had and the lemon-dill aioli was perfect with it! The whole meal was very well seasoned and delicious. My husband had the Queso special and really enjoyed it! We got a piece of Coconut Cloud Cake to go and it was SO moist and light, a great end to the evening! We decided to go back this morning for breakfast which was very good, though not many breakfast items to choose from. There was a Farmer's Breakfast (which my husband had), a Breakfast Burrito (which I had), a Blueberry French Toast, and Eggs Benedict. There were a few lunch items too. The coffee was again excellent, the sausage had good flavor, but was quite dry, it would benefit from a bit more fat in the mix. The homefries were very good as was the Burrito, very well seasoned. The waitresses that took care of us were very knowledgeable and helpful. We had a great time and will go back when down home!

Fantastic restaurant ,great chef I think it's one of the best in Maine . My husband Ordered the short rib and I had a phenomenal Seafood Alfredo, which is best I have ever had , lobster meat , big scallops, shrimps, and the crab meat all melted in the creamy sauce . Creamy but not heavy . I think it's excellent. I will be back for sure . The Bar area has great ambiance ,I get to try next time . The farm has great view of the river , like a painting . People told me the farm hold weddings in a newly build barn on their property. What a wonderful business.

A refreshing, much needed gem in the heart of Machias! Well done cocktails, friendly staff, and an exquisite view of the rolling hills around the waterfront property. This place sits on a large stretch of field that also acts as a wedding venue, they even have a cafe down the road. They're truly creating a family of businesses that touch upon every need of the community!

Dorr Lobster Seafood Market has become *that* one particular landmark welcoming me back to Acadia…read moreNational Park. Seeing it in the distance fills me with an overwhelming sense of excitement as it meant returning to one of my favorite hiking spots in New England (so far) and beginning a weeklong binge on Maine's freshest seafood. I absolutely love this tiny and unassuming (from the outside) seafood market and couldn't wait to be back again this year. Last year, it was the first stop to pick up ingredients for my weeklong visit to Acadia National Park. This year, after a whole year of telling anyone and everyone I knew visiting Acadia, it was once again my first stop after I started driving from Boston. Loaded Lobster Roll - check. Loaded Crab Roll - check. Dorr Hoodie - check. Fresh scallops - check. 5# bag of steamers - check. Calamari salad - check. A pair of lovely fresh and alive lobsters for later - check. Some of the freshest stuff at really competitive prices. What's there not to like? Oh yeah, there is Tim with his super sarcastic sense of humor. A conversation with him just absolutely cracks me up. Super nice dude with a lot of information and makes the overall experience here even better than it already is. I also got to meet the father and son owners during this visit. Always glad to meet the hardworking fishermen behind the amazing product that I've become addicted to.

My family and I are on vacation and always like to support local businesses. Dorr Lobster Seafood…read moreMarket is a small place with big taste. They have fresh and frozen soups for sale, and a single refrigerator display of a few fine pieces of seafood. They do the lobster, too, of course. I went with the scallops, a quart of New England Clam Chowder, and two pounds of fresh haddock. My wife made some awesome fish and chips with the haddock, had some beautiful sautéed scallops, and the soup was excellent. Was about $75 for everything, and we'd come back. The two gentlemen running the place answered all my questions and were more than happy to assist.
