Visited Gananoque for a short weekend trip and ended up here on my first night. Very cozy and popular place. We didn't have a reservation and had to wait for 30 minutes for a table but wasn't too fussed since there's plenty of places to walk around to explore the town. We were sat outside in the patio, and got to see the wood fire ovens in action! The staff were very friendly and attentive. We were probably the last table sat for the night and they still made time to serve us! We shared a pizza and a salad -- both were delicious! Would love to try other pizzas next time I'm in town. The only downside was all the bugs and mosquitos that kept bothering us but I guess that is to be expected for the summer. The staff did give us bug spray to ward of all the mosquitos but it was still quite annoying. Definitely check this place out if you're in town! read more

This is a very special place. Delicious thin crust pizza made outdoors in a wood fired oven. There is limited indoor seating, however I strongly recommend you go on a nice weather day and sit in the magical garden patio. Ingredients from the garden are used on their pizzas when available and they use lots of local ingrediants and suppliers. Creme Brule is also a specialty here. Note: only open seasonally, approx. We took a pit stop in Gananoque so have a quick dinner, did a quick Yelp search and found this secret pizza paradise!!! Thanks to yelp! One of the best pizza I have had. So fresh, so aromatic so delicious. This place is next to the 1000 Island cruise starting point in Gananoque, beautiful Purple House as mentioned with a beautiful garden restaurant and wood-fired "Butt" oven. We sat by the oven and could enjoy the live pizza making by the great pizza baker & Owner "Mitch". He is a charming person and of course makes magic pizzas. The pizzas are so fresh that Mitch just picks fresh basil from the plants to add to your pizza and when he does your senses are teased by the fresh fragrances. the pizzas are thin crust and they just melt in your mouth. We tried Beetroot-caramelized onion- balsamic glaze-herbed pizza and it was mind-blowing. Every bite of it was a treat. Along with pizza, we had a coffee, which was "birds and beans" organic coffee and was equally nice. The only con of this place is that they are not open around the year, or all days, you would wanna check before you plan to go. They are open as long as they can manage the patio. read more

We reached there at 7 PM and were told the wait time is 30 minutes for a patio table. We put our name and phone number and went for a walk to the river side; the St. Lawrence River is just steps away. Even after 45 minutes there was no message, so we went back to the restaurant to check if everything was alright. Then we were told two groups are still ahead of us. While standing there another group of four young people came and they were also told it would take 30 minutes to get a patio table. So they put their name and went for a walk. We also went back to the river side again and found that group of four were also waiting there. Another 45 minutes passed and suddenly we found the other group stood up and started walking towards the restaurant as if they got a message from the restaurant. We still did not receive anything. We were surprised and followed them to the restaurant and to our dismay the host seated them in a table right away though they put their names 45 minutes after us. We were hungry and a little worried as the restaurant has a sign that it closes at 9:30 PM and it's already 8:30 PM. This was our first time in Gananoque and were not sure where else we could go in such a short time. When the host returned after seating them, seeing us standing there she asked our name, and told us she just got an empty table and would get it ready for us. Rest of our time in the restaurant went well. Our server was a very nice young lady. The food was very delicious. We tried butter chicken pizza and caesar salad, all made with fresh ingredients and the pizza was made in a custom wood fired oven just in front of us; and finished with coffee and vanilla bean creme brûlée. The ambience that night was magical. It was a moonlit night. We were surrounded by beautiful flowers and lush gardens. The music was awesome. The only downside seating in the patio was mosquito bites. Once done eating and before we left, we had a short chat with our server and she was surprised to hear that we were told 30 minutes but had to wait 90 minutes and also the other group was given table before us. That group was seating just next to us. We were group of two and they were group of four, could it be the reason for discrimination? But all tables in the patio we saw were for four people and many were occupied by two guests only. So that should not be the reason. Our server appreciated for expressing our concern to her and she said she would have a chat with the host. If it was not for that incident, I would have given it a five star rating. read more

It has a fabulous wild garden patio with wood burning oven that is quaint and cozy. The food was right on point as was the Flying Monkey Amber Ale. The Purple House salad with a perfect balance of sweet and tart flavours left us wanting more! The pizza special with steak, pear and smoke gorgonzola was lovely. This was a fantastic end to our vacation. The music was great, the outdoor beer garden was wild and wonderful. I highly recommend the Butter chicken pizza and a glass of Wapoo cider. They have a puppet theater for the kids and ambiance for the parents. We hung out with Carrie one of the servers/owners. My boyfriend and I went to Gananoque for our first year anniversary and I really wanted to try this place, I LOVED IT! They are mainly sandwiches and coffee, but the really fancy kind that make you want to spend money! I had iced coffee, which was served in a mason jar and a veggie sandwich, so great! The service was great but seating is limited, which is a little off-putting but not enough for me to take a star away. The place gets packed quick, so go early! read more

Every now and then I think about going out for pizza then I remember this place and I get sad because I don't live close by! We had dinner here a few months ago, while on vacation. Service was slow but the staff were very helpful and open about the long waiting times before we were seated. The pizza was to die for, we ordered a few different pizzas for our large group to share and we loved all the toppings. I specially loved this one with asparagus and goat cheese, something I thought I wouldn't have liked, but it tasted so good! read more

This cafe is located near the water, perfect for stopping by before or after a boat tour. The staff is nice, but the service is very slow. We ordered margherita and vegetarian pizzas but had to wait 50 minutes for them. The wood fired taste of the pizza was good, however, I'm not sure it was worth the wait. read more

Tasty crispy thin crust pizza with interesting flavors and quick service. We came here for dinner and the service was quick and on point with the food arriving promptly. We had the pulled pork with apple pizza and the butter chicken pizza. I liked how there was a good amount of sauce and flavor on the pizza but the pizza dough was still crisp and in no way soggy. We also ordered the ginger beer which was unite refreshing. The pizzas were around $16 for a personal size and our bill came to about $40 for 2 people. read more

The patio is incredible. The wood fired pizza is fresh and flavourful. We had the butter chicken and the spicy chorizo, both were very good. Enjoying Craft beer and a glass of wine on their lush patio with views of the water was an experience in and of itself. You must go here. read more

Nice place but they just have pizza and salads for dinner options. We hit this place up just before the dinner rush otherwise expect to wait a long time for a table (30 min at least). The pizza is cooked in a wood fire oven outside which is nice but nothing amazing. I'd had better pizza elsewhere. I'm not so sure I'd return, it was above average but nothing extraordinary. My wife and I ate here for dinner on our last night in town before going to a play at 1000 Islands Playhouse (Blind Date which was totally fun). It was raining lightly outside so we ate inside as our only choice instead of the highly rated outside seating. We both got pizza, Margareta I think it is called but the one that was served was really a cheese pizza with a few small pieces of basil. It was OK but too much cheese. The beer I had was very good, I got the larger pint glass and enjoyed that. I browsed the bookshelf near our table and the selection was eclectic and if seen in someone's home would make me want to get to know them better. Got desert too and I got a chocolate almond cake with raspberry and whipped cream but there was no evidence of almond and the cake was pretty dry. Personally, I would think twice about going back again. Sorry but it was disappointing despite the prior hype of wood fired pizza grill and outside seating. read more
