This was my birthday breakfast and it was so good! Tommy's is a cute little 50's diner. I loved the checkerboard floor and the records on the ceiling. The place is a bit dated and could use some fresh updates to the decorating, but it was still charming, comfortable seating, had tv to watch...but was VERY hot inside. My trip to Kingston fell, of course, during that heat dome event...and I already HATE summer and hot weather. The temperature in the restaurant wasn't terrible but I was sweating. Turned out to be worth it. They have a full bar and Laura, my server, made me a pineapple mimosa on request. She looked to be handling the fairly busy place by herself with help from I believe the owner or manager. She handled everything very well and wasn't too busy to tell me Happy Birthday (I had on a shirt and she was one of the few people who did) and chat a bit and be friendly. I appreciated that. She was obviously very hot running inside and out to the patio tables, but she maintained her composure and worked very hard. I ordered the breakfast poutine and they added the pulled pork to it when I asked. I also got a side of the baked beans. The fries were very fresh, crispy and tender. There were scrambled eggs, fresh crumbled bacon, cheese sauce and that glorious pulled pork on top. I really enjoyed this dish. Great idea, breakfast poutine! While eating I got to speak the owner (I believe she was). She was from Arizona so we are both dual citizens. We had a good talk about Dump decimating the US. The owner is a very liberal, accepting, kind person. Makes you feel good to support businesses run by compassionate people. The service was great. Food was phenomenal. Yes, the beans were so tasty too. Kind staff. Cute decor. I am returning to Kingston in October and will definitely be stopping in at Tommy's again. Fantastic diner food! read more

We showed up starving after an open mic night. Had the Stoner Fries. Perfect dinner!!

I ordered the deep-fried pickles and corn dogs, and they were just okay. The pickles weren't as crispy and breaded as I expected, and the corn dogs were pretty standard. What keeps me coming back, though, are the milkshakes! I always go for the strawberry chocolate or banana chocolate, and they're consistently delicious every time! read more

My family and I wanted a snack after our 1000 island cruise, and we saw that this place had different types of poutine. We had the Smoked Highet and also the Classic Poutine but with onion rings. They both satisfied our hunger, but the onion rings got too soggy because they put too much gravy over it. Probably wouldn't order it again. The Smoked Highet was good because the brisket was well stewed, but there was very little meat. I liked their Classic Caesar though, since I love Bloody Marys. I would say Tommy's is a place to satisfy the munchies, but don't expect anything more than that. read more

I went to Tommy's last Sunday and ordered a burger. The bun was soaked to where the bottom bun was utterly non-existent, and the top bun was marginally better. Additionally, the music was too loud, and the song selection was poor, definitely not something thematic with a diner. Finally, our waiter checked up on us a whole three times while we were there. The first was to see if we found the online menu (which takes the feel out of going to a restaurant and getting a menu handed to you. Furthermore, the selections were terrible). The second was to ask what we wanted to order. The third was to get our bill. We got no water refills, and they did not ask once how the food was. When I went to ask where the bathroom was, they were talking to their coworker while I was standing directly in front of them, attempting to get their attention. I gave up and found it on my own I have never written a review for a restaurant before. I do not like tattletales, but this was abhorred service and food quality. read more

Very popular with students. By the time we left, the place was full and we were decades older than every single person there. They've got a great menu with lots of interesting items on the menu like beer battered fish and chips with lime and pepper chips added to the batter. You can even get perogies as a side. Our waitress was very pleasant and service was good but my buffalo chicken wrap didn't have a whole lot of chicken in it and it was ok but nothing great. My husband rated his avacado toast a 3 out of five as well. read more

Been here a few times, this was my first time sober though. The food is well priced and they have some really creative dishes. The server was nice and the restaurant itself was clean. The music was super loud though and I didn't really get the theme, they should work on their play list. Overall it was a really good meal in a very retro designed diner. read more

I'm writing this review as I wait for our server to grace us with her presence. We've been waiting for about 20 minutes for her to check in on us since we finished our meal long ago and have been trying to flag someone down for the cheque. We ordered a $10, mediocre sweet potato poutine. You could get something much better for half the price next door at The Pita Grill. I can understand the appeal of a late night diner that offers all-day breakfast, but they need to work on their service. I probably won't be coming back until they do. read more

Wow! Wow wow wow! We drove into Kingston just looking for a diner, not thinking much of it, as a way to cap off our nearby cottage trip (and maybe also recover from a hangover). The food was excellent, exactly what we needed, I got eggs benny's and huevos rancheros and it slapped, washed down with a spicy caeser and a boozy coffee. Have not enjoyed a meal as much in a while. However, by far the best part of the meal. Our server, Alicia, was incredibly attentive and a pleasure to talk with (she even switched into french unprompted to fit our francophone crowd). Peep the daily specials otherwise I wouldn't make the trek to Tommys. We came on a Monday where it's BOGO apps which was tight--me and my friend could justify a $17 platter of nachos if we were getting 2. The nachos were banging, and I had a disgusting amount left over. Server was nice and doesn't try to get jalapeño face with questions. One downside was the board games they have laid out which are missing pieces and covered in rotten food which was kinda rancid--one tip is to either have someone routinely clean the games or to just remove them. Went to Tommy's for lunch with a group of 6, seated in a great both just perfect. Waitress was awesome, bubbly and attentive. Everyone had something different and all enjoyed their meals. Tommy's is the hangover cure. It's conveniently located in the hub (on Princess Street) and offers decent/standard prices for students. Late nights expect this place to be crowded with rowdy and drunk people, still one of my go-to places, but don't expect anything fancy. Sticky tables and plastic cups, but whose to complain when I came there for onion rings, mozzarella sticks and sweet potato fries smothered in gravy and cheese curds. Tommy's is a gem. read more

We sat outside and waited ten minutes before I went inside and asked if they were serving outside. There was four tables and 4-5 girls working. "Absolutely" I'm told, we walk back outside sit at the table blonde gives us menus and wanders back inside. No drink orders or anything, we wait some more another ten minutes for her to stop twirling her hair and talk about her night drinking with the other servers. I've gotta say I'm kinda disappointed. This place has great food but most of the staff does not at all care about providing a good experience. They have a very ineffective contact tracing policy that does use a qr system and in itself is very easy to use but you will often be forced to input your info more than once because your server will not just wait at the table to see the checkmark. They leave and in the time it takes them to return it resets. Meaning you have to not only multiple times but also your device is held hostage during this because doing anything else will cause it to reset. Not at all helped by the fact that you also need your device to view a menu so you can't even see what there is to eat until your server gets thier ish together. Every other restaurant uses a qr code at the door so the guest only has to input once or they use pen and paper. Its taking far too long for this establishment to realize thier error and that kinda bound down to complacency. At the end of the day people come in and spend money so as long ad that keeps happening who cares? read more

First time customer to tommys. Had hight expectations for this place. Had heard great things about tommys. Being from out of town we choose Tommy's over a couple other spots. It was my wife's birthday and she picked tommy's. We stopped in Wednesday morning just after 11am and it was quite 1 other table at the time. We were excited about the menu. I love trying different beers and was excited to try the tommy guns draft. So our drink order was taken then I was told sorry we no longer carry that anymore. I did however enjoy my second choice. Was the best part of it all. So now for the food. My wife was super excited to try the Mikey b's eggs Benny .I was really excited to try the Guinness pulled pork omelette. So our order was taken. Who by the way was one of the owner's and honestly was a little over the top. Trying a bit too hard. So he then comes back to let me know sorry we are out of pulled pork till Thursday! .Well being the owner you might think he would no this ahead of time! .Needless to say we are not off to a great start! .I then choose the taco omelette which was dry and not to much flavor to it so I thought I would ask for some hot sauce Frank's always makes things better. So I asked for hot sauce a couple of minutes passed by and no sauce. So I start eating and still not overly busy. Finally after being over halfway finished i received my portion cup of hot sauce. Been here several times. The vibe of the place doesn't fit the American diner layout. Too loud. I've had to ask for the music to be turned down several times. I wasn't just being picky, the music was just ridiculously loud I couldn't hear the person speaking a foot or so in front of me or the server. The breakfast is overhyped but the burgers are one of the best in the city. They would get much better business if they accepted more than cash and credit. read more
