We recently stopped by Lyric Cafe and Tearoom and had a very enjoyable experience. I don't usually order anything fancy when it comes to coffee, so I went with the house brew and kept it simple with some Splenda and heavy cream. The coffee was slightly bitter for my taste, but overall it was good and I enjoyed it. I also ordered an almond bear claw. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it contained raisins, and I'm not a fan of raisins, so I probably wouldn't have chosen it had I known. That said, the pastry itself was fresh and tasty, and the raisins were more of a personal preference issue than a problem with the food. My wife ordered an iced chai latte and absolutely loved it. She often finds chai lattes to be watered down, but she said this one was perfectly sweet, full of flavor, and one of the better ones she's had. The cafe itself is cute, very clean, and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The prices were also surprisingly reasonable. The Lyric is cute and the staff are friendly and attentive. Lots of open seating and clean bathrooms. The frozen chai latte was good but very sweet. The croissants (chocolate and almond) were not good . They were more bread than croissant. The croissant egg and cheese sandwich was decent but nothing special. I love trying their specials they have on the large posters they have while you wait in the line, like their banana bread iced cold brew, or a coconut and caramel iced or hot drink. While on family vacation in the area, we stopped in this coffee shop about 4 different times. The coffee is great and the options are plentiful. If you don't like drinks too sweet, be sure to tell the baristas so you get the type of drink you want. I enjoyed each of the cold brews I tried, especially with white chocolate. My only complaint would be the lack of service at the counter. Two days in a row I was the only person waiting to order and my order wasn't taken for several minutes. The one older lady working seemed to focus more on cleaning up the area than on taking care of waiting customers. At one point, I had started ordering for my husband and she completely stepped away and down the counter for something. My business and my order definitely didn't feel like her priority. read more

We finally tried this place and it did not disappoint! They have a TON of different coffee styles (ices,hot,latte,macchiato,espresso) and every flavor you can think of. I got a lyric mocha (white chocolate and caramel) and it was so good! We also got a cheese danish (my hubby's favorite) and it was so fresh, crispy, and the right amount of cheese! It is quite big inside with plenty of seating area. They even have an upstairs which is super cute. We sat on the couches to drink our coffee and we saw a crowd of people come in but the line went super fast! They are very efficient and quick to serve. They also have bagels and baked goods which I think the bagels are usually a big hit since everyone basically ordered one so that's on my list to do next time. Stopped into Lyric Coffee house on the way home from Alexandria Bay. Such a charming ass little place.. I think it was an old theatre back around 1900. Awesome atmosphere. Coffee drinks were really good, also had NY style bagel breakfast sandwiches and danishes .. were all really good too. High quality all around. Service was great too, friendly staff that will bring ur order to ur table if it's not too busy. Sitting upstairs is a must! Would totally stop again. read more

Great coffee house! We stopped in for a quick latte and were very impressed with the vibe, service, and even the value. It struck us as a high end coffee house, but the pricing was very reasonable. Cute little upscale coffee shop I stumbled upon in 2016. New tradition we've started is to hit this place up before we head over to shop at the River Rat Cheese Store. Lots of coffee drink options. Hot and Cold. Stay or To-go. If you're shopping the streets of Clayton and jonesing for a pick-me-up, this is the place to be. If you are interested in "specialty drinks" then make sure you sign up for the punch card. Buy 10, get one free. You can leave your card in the box at the counter. No need to carry it with you. I've not had their lunch food options or heard any of the live music, but who knows what the future will hold. I must note, the dessert case is always on point. It always leave my mouth watering for something sugary. Within the cute little establishment are some nice nooks and crannies to sit and read a paper or chat with a pal. This place is equipped with some comfy chairs and a fireplace. There is even balcony seating overlooking the interior of the little shop. Lastly, the French style doors open up to the patio on nice days. Patio has tables and chairs with umbrellas for sunny days. Limited seating outside. (Watch for bees!) read more

Drinks any world class barista would be proud of, fresh home baked pastries and the baristas are absolutely superbly friendly and helpful. I was absolutely blown away by the quality of their drinks after my first visit so much I stopped in here every morning for their dirty chai latte during my time in town for work. A pleasant surprise to find such a sophisticated coffee shop in the 1000 islands region! They have actually been in town for 14 or so years! From Alex Bay to Clayton, this is by far the best coffee in town. They have a great menu of espresso beverages and more syrups/sauces than I have ever seen at a coffee shop. 4 stars because the food just looks awful on their display. We stopped in here on our last day in Clayton before our drive home. We didn't want a huge breakfast and I read that this place had breakfast sandwiches. It's an old movie theater converted into a coffeehouse and somebody did a very nice job doing it. We both got bagel sandwiches with bacon egg and cheese and my partner got a decaffeinated coffee. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious but the decaffeinated coffee didn't cut the mustard, even though it was made fresh it was very weak. We both drink decaf coffee because we can't handle the caffeine anymore. There is good decaf out there but not at this place. We were very surprised. Been coming here for years, it's a solid choice for a caffeine fix. They have plenty of flavors to add to your drinks and always have some baked goods on hand. I do wish they had a couple different roasts for coffee Though, they just have the house blend. I usually get the hot chocolate because I'm a 5yr old at heart and it's always yummy. For the first time I got a chocolate chip cookie and a pumpkin scone. Both were good, nothing to write home about but a nice compliment to morning cocoa. read more

We love coming here multiple times per trip when we travel to the 1000 Islands area. Bi-level seating leaves plenty of room for people trying to socially distance, service is exceptional, coffees are wonderful (I especially love the frozen lavender mochas/white mochas, try it!), and even the trinkets and souvenirs are desirable. It's the closest you'll come to fast food coffee in this immediate area but without the corporate vibes! As long as Lyric is open for business we will be return/repeat customers! This is my favorite coffee place in the Alex bay/Clayton area. The staff is amazing and will make light conversation as well as tell you a little bit about the local area. The coffee is reasonably priced and has flavor! Speaking of flavor... vanilla, hazelnut, mocha, caramel? They've got it and much more! The selection is huge and will satisfy any customer. My favorite is the iced coffee but there is so much more to try. Besides the coffee the Lyric is the perfect place to take a break and rest when walking in downtown Clayton. The decor and atmosphere is so comforting and cute. I can't wait to visit again! If you are in the area make sure you stop in and grab drink. I highly recommend the Lyric. read more

I was in town visiting my sister and stumbled upon this little gem. The store was very clean and quaint. I had the Caramel Vanilla latte, which was creamy and delicious. There is plenty of seating on the main level and a beautiful loft with a large set of windows overlooking the street. My favorite part was the gas fireplace with comfortable chairs for reading. Kathy, the store owner is very friendly and we had a nice conversation. I will absolutely be returning to this anytime I am in Clayton. read more
