Cute little gift shop in Middleton. Lots of gift items to choose from - jewelry, Holiday items, mugs, cards, children's clothing. They have these really cute duck figurines with little rain outfits on them. I may have to go back and get one of those. I liked that it wasn't the same stuff that I see everywhere else. They have a big buffalo when you come in as a nod to the Villages Charter School Buffalos. I wasn't shopping for anything in particular that day, but I will go back again next time I need to look for a gift. read more

I used to like this store until I ran into how the owner handles and treats her customers. On December 7th I purchased 4 pot holders,1 coaster and 2 large color mugs. I spent 124.32. When I discovered the color changing mugs were unable to go in the microwave, My husband returned the mugs only. Here is where it all starts. He came home and handed me the receipt and said its taken care of. I said good. Thank-You! I threw the proof that the items was returned in the garbage. Two weeks go by and I decided that I should probably call the business and find out what is taking so long on the return. I was very kind to her on the phone, talking up her store ,telling her I spoke to other customers about some items in there. I even apologized to her that I had to return these mugs and that I really liked them and wish that they was microwavable. So, she asks if I have my receipt. And of course I threw it away the day my husband came back with it. In my head I am automatically learning a hard life lesson. I know where she is going with this by the tone in her cold voice. She starts to lecture me on how important it is that we keep our receipts. Automatically I go from the age of 46 to 6 by the way she is speaking to me. Once again, I apologized to her for my mistake. She asked what day this happened. At the time I said I am not 100 percent sure because I just decided to pick up the phone and call. I told her I could find out. Now you would think being the business owner that she would have at least taken my name and number down? Yeah No. She proceeded to tell me that it is probably on my banks end and that I should contact them. She then told me that with out exact time and day she would have hundreds of charges to go through. I contact my bank, they said they see no sign of a return at all. I was advised to dispute the whole amount of 124.32. I told my bank I just want the money returned for the two mugs. I do not know an exact price but it was forty something dollars. They said you have to dispute the whole charge and it is up to the owner whether she wants to release it to me or not. They also told me that I would not have to deal with her. So, the charge falls back off and goes back to her after ten days. This time I dispute the charge again ,contact my bank and they advised me to give her a call. Personally I did not want to call her because I knew from dealing with her the first time she was not a nice lady. Now, the battle begins. I call ,she answers. I extremely nicely explain to her who I am and the mix up that is going on. She then cuts me off and starts to become a bitch about the situation. I then cut her off and told her I don't want the 124.32 back. I just want the forty something dollars that is owed to me. Again, I was very kind to her. She then proceeds to tell me that with out a receipt she does not have to refund me the money. And then just like before she started to lecture me like a 6 year old on the importance of keeping a receipt. I told her I am pretty sure that after doing your inventory you was over two large mugs. Shopping at your store has made me learn a life lessen. So, YES I LOST MY SHIT WITH HER. I yelled at this woman and used language that would have gotten a bar of soap shoved in my mouth if I was a little girl. She hung up on me. I called her back, she told me she wanted to speak and that with out a receipt she could not refund me the money. So why would I even let her speak? She hung up again. I called her back and her employee answered the phone. He could not figure out how to put me on hold. I heard them in the back ground fumbling about what to do. Then the phone hung up again. So, later on she calls my phone back. Must have caller ID. Did I answer? NO! Why would I? This woman was very clear she was not going to refund my money to me. She then called me the next day and no I did not answer. Why? Because since she made it clear that she was not going to refund me my forty something dollars for the mugs, she has back, it would have just ended in an argument again. So as far as I am concerned we are into February and this all started on December 20th. I was told by my bank that all she has to do is release the funds on her side. I still have three of the pot holders. in the bag because I have been waiting for this shit to get settled. I get that I am going to get shit for not keeping a receipt. But how it was handled from the beginning was completely unprofessional. This is how a valuable lesson is learned. But in the mean time, it comes down to this. Right and WRONG. Black and white. I was WRONG as well, But what makes you so wrong is that you are and was aware of the situation and chose to do the wrong thing about it. I only shopped in your store to help out the small business. Trust me, everything you sell in your store can be purchased online. As far as I am concerned your a thief. Product was returned, and the money was not. BBB will not be happy. read more

The Purple Pig is a cool little shop with an array of eclectic item that should satisfy just about any shopper. I must confess that I wasn't down with getting my shopping on this particular evening; otherwise, I sure I would have done some damage. I also think this shop is geared to the individual who loves knickknacks. I'm certain that my mother would love this place. For me the best part about the shop was the metal sculptures, which I could see rocking quite few kitchens out there. Unfortunately, my kitchen already sports several metalwork geckos, so no sale for me. read more
