I deserve a vacation and in October I will be taking a NONSTOP flight to JFK. I will have a week in the best city in the country...I am planning on visiting all 5 boroughs (Beastie Boy style) and hitting up the best eats à la the food network. I figured that if I am 5 months out from this excursion, I deserve to look and feel better when I do it. Tonight after work I hit the gym and did some cardio and a little chest work. It was surprising how my body reacted...it wants to be challenged...ironic that I just bought a TV, but now I can balance it out. There has been some changes to the gym. It looks like there was some rearranging of the machines and some of the elliptical machines had been upgraded. Some things haven't changed though. Like people not understanding how to control their weights. There was also a machine that was squeaking...I think it was a recumbent bike...it seriously needs some WD40. I couldn't be the only one annoyed by it...could I? Oh well, I am looking forward to my trip and I am planning on looking a lot better come October...

It's a family-owned private gym and athletic training studio that recently went through a remodel and added more equipment--which was awesome to see. I did a drop-in session, but they also offer monthly memberships, one-on-one training, group training, and nutrition planning. During my visit, I got the chance to talk with two of the trainers. They were incredibly knowledgeable--not just about fitness and training, but also about proper nutrition and hormone health. That kind of insight is exactly what I look for in a gym and in a trainer. Nutrition and hormonal balance are key to real lifestyle changes. It's not always about pushing heavy weights--it's about finding the right balance. I really appreciated the energy at PDX Muscle. The gym is clean, welcoming, and there are no cliques. Everyone was friendly, and you can tell the owners and staff genuinely know what they're doing. Highly recommend if you're serious about training smart and living healthier.

A manager handled a simple membership dues issue by yelling across the entire gym floor that my partner "could not work out until a fee was paid." This was done loudly, publicly, and with zero respect. My partner and I are both long-time Crunch members, and no one should be treated like that over a billing question. It was embarrassing to watch and even worse to experience. Situations like that should be handled privately and professionally, not broadcast across a room full of people. What made it more concerning is that employees mentioned this manager has a pattern of yelling at staff as well. If that is true, it is a serious culture problem, not just a one-time mistake. Crunch promotes a welcoming environment, but this was the exact opposite. I will be following up with management directly, but this needs to be addressed immediately. No member or employee should be treated this way.

I like the instructors and facility was clean. Would have given 5 stars but I brought 2 of my LA friends here over the weekend. They're in town for our best friend's birthday. When we all checked in together the front desk told us, since they're not local they'd have to pay for the class. Fine, no problem at all. On the way out we were all talking with instructor Jessica and giving feedback etc, the front desk told us since we paid for the class today they'd comp them the next class. So my two friends signed up for the next day which I was also signed up for. When you're new to cyclebar it's pretty common for them to text and call you. My friends got texts the AM on day 2 class asking us how day 1 went and looking forward to seeing us that AM. We showed up and were informed all our spots were cancelled because we're from LA and there wouldn't be a free class. First, I paid for all my classes, a pack of 3 and a single so very odd that I would be cancelled. Second, if we're receiving text confirmations about our class 45mins before arriving, please don't cancel them on us when we actually arrive. Lastly, it's not about the money, we all paid and were happy to, but don't promise something and then change the tune when we show up. The whole encounter that day felt VERY bait and switch and made us feel unwelcome. As a result wouldn't go back to this location.
