Extremely disappointing customer service…read more I read some other reviews on Google after my experience and I totally agree with their assessment. I arrived less than a minute late to a Pure Barre class and was not allowed in. I understood the policy and accepted losing my classpass credit. When I asked at the front desk if the credit would be returned, I was told no, which is ok and then I simply left. A few days later, I noticed a $31 charge for a late cancellation. The problem? I never canceled the class. I called Pure Barre, and they confirmed that the front desk employee had mistakenly marked me as a late cancellation. I explained that I was willing to accept losing the class credit, but I absolutely should not be charged $31 for a class I never canceled. Their response was basically, "Sorry, but we can't fix it." So, to be clear: their employee made the error, they acknowledged the error, and yet I'm still expected to pay for it. Idk and Idc who the money goes to... classpass or PB but it's PB's mistake to incorrectly cancel the class. I understand having strict policies, but there should also be basic accountability when your own staff makes a mistake. I'm also a member at Orangetheory for years, which has strict policies too because of their HIIT classes (way intense than PB), but they manage to balance those policies with reasonable customer service. This experience made me feel like Pure Barre doesn't care about treating customers fairly. Very disappointing and definitely not how I expected a fitness studio to handle a simple mistake. I am obviously never going to this place, especially when there is another barre studio on Teal, in case anyone is looking! Btw they are very accommodating and friendly too!

I deserve a vacation and in October I will be taking a NONSTOP flight to JFK. I will have a week in the best city in the country...I am planning on visiting all 5 boroughs (Beastie Boy style) and hitting up the best eats à la the food network. I figured that if I am 5 months out from this excursion, I deserve to look and feel better when I do it. Tonight after work I hit the gym and did some cardio and a little chest work. It was surprising how my body reacted...it wants to be challenged...ironic that I just bought a TV, but now I can balance it out. There has been some changes to the gym. It looks like there was some rearranging of the machines and some of the elliptical machines had been upgraded. Some things haven't changed though. Like people not understanding how to control their weights. There was also a machine that was squeaking...I think it was a recumbent bike...it seriously needs some WD40. I couldn't be the only one annoyed by it...could I? Oh well, I am looking forward to my trip and I am planning on looking a lot better come October...

On the way out we were all talking with instructor Jessica and giving feedback etc, the front desk told us since we paid for the class today they'd comp them the next class. So my two friends signed up for the next day which I was also signed up for. When you're new to cyclebar it's pretty common for them to text and call you. My friends got texts the AM on day 2 class asking us how day 1 went and looking forward to seeing us that AM. We showed up and were informed all our spots were cancelled because we're from LA and there wouldn't be a free class. First, I paid for all my classes, a pack of 3 and a single so very odd that I would be cancelled. Second, if we're receiving text confirmations about our class 45mins before arriving, please don't cancel them on us when we actually arrive. Lastly, it's not about the money, we all paid and were happy to, but don't promise something and then change the tune when we show up. The whole encounter that day felt VERY bait and switch and made us feel unwelcome. As a result wouldn't go back to this location.

My daughter, who is extremely social and normally confident, was VERY nervous to be in the "check it out" session. They are both (my son and daughter,) "Rookie" aged and therefore did the same introductory class. Coach D was running the class. I was impressed because I had been training at a professional training facility with a trainer and Coach D was running the kids through what I had done doe warmups. He didn't let them give up and gently pushed. My daughter was feeling frustrated and told him that she felt like she wasn't doing as well as the other kids. And she felt weird as the only girl there. He told her that at D1, there are no girls or boy, just athletes. And she was doing better and picking it up quicker than most boys do. I had honestly not thought she would be interested in doing it at all, she just tagged along since we didn't have school and we're out running errands. But she was REALLY pumped up. She was stronger than age realized and really enjoyed it. She often feels super intimidated by new things but after completing it gets very excited. I love that she felt challenged, accepted and that she really wanted to go back. If we could get her alone there and make it worthwhile financially I think it would be so good for her. Maybe later. Every visit is different - with different focuses, like Endurance, Strength, Upper, Lower, etc. - so you always feel you're working different parts of your body and it never gets boring. It's been super fulfilling to see others grow stronger and fitter alongside us. The coaches will push you while being supportive, and make sure you are doing each movement correctly.
