    This place at first seem good. I was looking to rent an apartment in Key West, the agent there…read morehelped me, we found a place (Habana Plaza), and i rented it. I gave her a cashiers check for almost 4 thousand dollars to move in, thats first, last, and security. I pay everything on time, it all seem to be going well until the landlord tells me that i still owe them 4k. After some investigation we find out that Bershire lost the 4k. Cashiers check. When i go to the bank, the bank tells me that somebody has already cashed the check. I have to fill out a form to start the process to get my money back so i can pay the landlord for Bershire's mistake. On the form that i have to fill out there's a payer and payee section, i filled out my part but nobody else from Habana Plaza wanted to assume any responsability for the lost check (big mistake). After almost a year of waiting for my bank to give my money back, they tell me that they will be closing the case, and not return my money due to that it was cashed out at a different bank, and they can not make the other bank give them the money back. I mean why would a bank even look to give money back when the payee doesnt even sign the documents, it just looks like i am trying to get the money back that i just spent. None of the Berkshire and Habana plaza tooks responsability for the cashiers check that i gave them, i payed everything on time and give them 4k just to move in and i,was treated the whole time as if i still them money, and i will not be getting back my $1500 deposit, told me to fight the bank for it. I went to Berkshire to see what they can do for me since i gave them the money and they did nothing. Not only that, after everything they still want me to let them show the apartment while i am still living in it. Ms. Pat keeps harrasing me after i told her that she does not have permission to show the apartment before i leave because it is not written on the lease agreement, read the agreement Ms. Pat and Habana Plaza. I pay everything on time, give them a lot of money and they still treat you like it was your fault that they don't have the money. DO NOT USE BERSHIRE HATHAWAY SERVICE, THEY WILL LOSE (OR STEAL) YOUR MONEY AND STILL HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE

And I paid the difference after I moved out and the new tenant moved in. I'm outraged by the fees they charged me...people be aware there is a lot of hidden fees before you sign the lease read carefully! They gonna charge you for this and that....This company also overcharged me for maintenance fees! its making money by ripping off people. I replaced the a/c filter and there was no damaged smoking detector or missing bulbs. And they charged me $198 for nothing! For hidden damages! And the yard yes I agree I didn't cut the grass so they charged me $179.30 for 10×10 townhouse yard cleaning for cutting the grass basically there us nothing to clean there. And the garbage what garbage I put everything in the trash can and what i supposed to do take the trash with me??? If garbage day is Monday and i moved out on Sunday. So basically they charged me for taking the trash cans out! I will never recommend to rent from this company for all my friends and anybody!

Ex: the dishwasher flooded underneath the flooring so some of the wood panels had to be replaced. They went with a cheaper wood that didn't match the rest of the flooring and didn't even run flush with the cabinets. Another ex: the AC kept kicking off. Mechanics would come to "fix" the issue. We later found out, they were putting a bandaid on the problem. Our AC went out again for over 5 days in the summer. We asked if they would pay to relocate us temporarily until the AC was fixed. They said no- it was my spouse, cat and myself living in a space that was 90°! As they were fixing the AC, construction took over the living room making it uninhabitable- no compensation, just an experience of cleaning up after the repair. As we moved out, they came up with ridiculous fees (processing, admin, cleaning). When we moved out, the unit was cleaner than moving in. This company does not care for their tenants. I've heard horror stories of how they have treated others but I was being hopeful. This company is full of inconsiderate managers, often with attitude problems, as well as hidden and made up fees. Would not recommend. Rent if you dare.

We rented but were made to feel second best by some of the owners and management. "We don't like transients", someone said and you can forget about a temporary parking pass for any visitors unless you're an owner. And the way they manage this place is some oppressive level stuff. Just look at the other reviews. New rules, old rules, rules on rules. Stupid stuff too. So there's that and the noise. You'll get used to the air traffic but it sure sounds like someone's always working on something with a jackhammer during the day and there's some kind of bowling alley upstairs at night. Between that and unreliable internet, was difficult to remote work but manageable. There were times I'd have to run my whole office on cellular Wi-Fi. Makes sense everything takes longer to ship down here but you're also going to lose a lot of mail. Just plan on it. UPS, USPS, and FedEx, doesn't matter. Somewhere between the mailroom and your front door, things go missing. And if you're looking to rent, you should know it's a thing in the Keys to get screwed out of your security deposit. We had to fight for ours. Like seriously fight for it. ...but we had an ocean view, rent was reasonable enough given the Keys were closed when we went to contract, and between all the beaches and the Duval rum fun, everything was otherwise okay, I guess. Was too much fun.

There's been a few times some security guards overstep, as one time i arrived home with a friend dropping me off near the entrance of the building it was late afternoon-ish, after stopping the car i had simply farewell'd my buddy and had to grab my belongings from the car. Not after a minute or two, the security guard knocks on my car door and asks why we're "parked" near the entrance. I looked at the dude silly. We barely just arrived almost a minute ago and the dude acted like we were parked there for over 5 minutes or something. My friend had to reassure him because i wasn't going to bother explaining anything to the dude. There's another instance where i arrived back home in my e-bike. i stopped outside near the entrance, i get off my bike and I see the building manager within the entrance of the place and she comes at me talking about i can't ride my bike within the building aggressively. I can't tell if she was blind or not, i literally stopped outside the building and got off my ebike as i was walking towards the elevator. This lady thought i rode or came from some other direction, it was an odd occurrence. i just looked at her confused and said ok? and kept it going. I've had my roommates tell me the manager is a b word and that they've been brushed off by her, or that they accidentally forgot to bring certain documents, she gets aggressive. I've also been told by a local that sometimes putting extra money in the envelop with the lease renewals will help. i was super confused. you have to bribe her not to act deranged? didn't sound right to me.
