I'd already been to the Polmeroy twice, so why go to the Swan... big mistake. Where as the Polmeroy is snug and cozy, the Swan Inn had a more open, airy feel. There is a fantadtic terrasse in the back. It's true that Polmeroy and Swan are sister restaurants with the same a la carte menus. I chose one of the specials, which was a pork loin served with garden fresh peas and pea greens (read the shoots, incredibly good) and crisp broccoli, as well as a purée of potatoes with chorizo. Just tried calling to book a table for tomorrow (called at 14.15 as website said they close at…read more14.30), phone was answered by a very rude individual who told me they were too busy with lunchtime and to call back later. I asked if they'd be open to answer the phone later and he shouted 'the pub is open all day I'm very busy' and hung up on me! So won't be dining there then. Sorry, but first impressions really matter - if you're too busy to answer the phone (the only way to book) then DON'T or implement a different method of booking tables. Don't recommend it, they were horrible and obviously too busy to be bothered.

The pub had the log fire going with antiques all around - even some quirky games too! The allowed dogs inside the pub and in the beer garden. The garden was lovely not massive but a good sun trap. The usual food, in fact pretty much the same menu as at all of them I think. The quality has been a bit hit and miss for me, though their burgers are decent. The puddings have been a bit of a let down specifically the rhubarb crumble which is more just rhubarb and custard and only a smidgen of crumble. Still, it is pretty good value as they do a two course menu for £10.
