Customer service received was unacceptable. The first lady that helped me was nice and took my information, said a man would call me back next day. I'm new to quilting and was looking for precut fabric squares. They had a few 5 by 5 inch squares. Unfortunately they were not in the neutral colors that I was looking. The two sales women were so helpful and patient while I looked around. I will say that the fabric did seem pricier than what I'm used to. However I am just beginning so I'm more comfortable with cheaper precut fabrics. I will say that they have a beautiful selection of fabrics, unique quilting tools, and gorgeous already made quilts. They also offer classes so I look forward to possibly signing up. read more

I reached out on Oct 30 to see if they could add castors to my long arm frame as well as cleaning service. Lady I talked to was very nice and said she would put me on the schedule and her guy would be calling soon to make an appt - cleaning of machine likely after 1st of year. Never heard back or follow up to phone call. Today Nov 17 I see an email that the store is closing next week. The one in Austin will be open but that is too far for anyone to come do what I need without paying an arm and a leg. Anyone know of a service tech for handi-quilter frame and a Simply Sixteen near Boerne area. I get businesses are struggling, but I wished they could at least refer me to someone. read more

I called the Quilt Haus to make an appointment with David for one of my machines that went down. I was told he didn't work there anymore. When I asked where he had gone, could the young man on the phone tell me how to get in touch with David, things turned decidedly frosty. Basically, "no I can't tell you." And, good -bye. Okay. I hunted David down, got my machine to him two days ago. By the way, he has a new business doing sewing machine repair called Grace Repair in New Braunfels. Then I found a note from Quilt Haus that he had left suddenly, and they couldn't recommend him any longer, but were recommending their customers to go to a company in North San Antonio. You gotta be kidding! Like I am going to SA because they got ticked at David Richardson. To David's credit he just said he didn't want to move. He didn't bad mouth them, like they did him. I will continue to have David work on my machines. I am not so sure I want to continue buying fabric from Quilt Haus. I sure am not going to SA on their recommendation. They shouldn't be bringing their personal issues into their business. It just isn't nice. read more

I highly recommend sweet Ellen and her sister at the Quilt Haus, NB, TX! I had a lot of guidance and easily communicated my ideas with a knowledgeable professional! I trusted them with my husband's treasured Longhorn football quilt that was his Dad's letterman from when he played in `52-55. Full of holes and very delicate. I was amazed at how beautiful the restoration turned out- they really put extra effort into the precious item I brought them. Don't expect orders overnight- they're busy because they're great! The repair arm of this shop comes across more as a second thought to make more money, and is treated as such. Don't expect your machine to receive any kind of baseline attention that is expected for your loved machines. My mother (career seamstress and quilter) has been waiting on an important fix that this location agreed to a 4-6 weeks for repair, it has been almost 16 and they are still not done. They have also tried up charging multiple times for repairs that should be included in the scope of what was agreed upon. I find the lack of respect for their customers atrocious and egregious. This place of business will never see another dollar from anywhere In my family and will forever receive scorn to my friends as well. You have done the opposite of make friends here. read more

Talk about snobbish, poor customer service. Saturday afternoon multiple "sales ladies" in this establishment and my gal walks in, dressed in jeans and a t-shirt looking to purchase fabric and supplies for her to use with new Bernina quilter. Apparently, if you aren't in proper "dress code" when entering this place of business, the "Ladies" turn quickly on their heels and ignore your presence. Rude doesn't begin to describe the lack of professionalism from this merchant. If your outfit as a woman and customer entering this place doesn't scream "Texas Southern Belle" with apparent financial means, you are not worthy of the QUILT HAUS' attention. They must be "killing it" in sales with virtually no foot traffic at this location somehow to act that way. read more

I went in once..and the lady up front..was NOT friendly..then told the other girl she was going to have her lunch break. The other - employee (younger girl) was indeed friendly..YET also made a comment about the manager...( likes to come in and change things up frequently) thus being hard to find certain fabrics,,(the ones I was asking about). I too found it a bit pricey and umm not someplace I want to return to to make my purchase.. I Suggest maybe a sign that reads UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT..out front! Too bad..it could be such a great place for many quilters etc. to go..Im going to try the one other store in NB or travel to shertz or Austin way:) Customer service is really Key these days with so many other options! read more

So happy, package came today. More beautiful fabric. Three years ago came for a visit (see brother and sister-in-law). Pam took me to your store, fell in love with an apron pattern-out of stock. Quilt Haus sent me an email when pattern was back in stock. Ordered pattern, came very quickly. Fast forward to 2022, saw email from Quilt Haus, checked email. SSUUCCHH great fabric, regular and sale price. Ordered two items, will always be checking store for fabric and price. When a sewer in California orders from Texas it has to be GGOODD. Two stars for yesterday's end of bolt sale. I got high quality fabric and a great deal. Taking three stars for the awful service. I walked in, started looking around, and was eventually greeted with, "Well YOU look overwhelmed!" Really? Because I was having quite the relaxing day. If you can't be nice, don't greet me at all. As I was getting my fabric measured, another sales associate started going on about how she texted her manager that the signs arrived, and that she did NOT want a phone call follow-up. The phone rang on cue, and she HUNG UP on her manager. She then explained to us, and loudly across the store, that managers are annoying. Dang, people, I'm just trying to have a great day. After years of shopping here, I'm not coming back. read more

My mom was looking for a place that had sewing machine repair people to come out to service her machine. She's old school and didn't want to take her machine out of the huge piece of furniture she had it mounted in. We called around to a few places in the area to no avail. We hit the jackpot at The Quilt Haus. David came out and did diagnostics on it and asked to take it to the shop. He did all of the taking out. A few weeks later he came back and put it back after a minor overhaul, including the foot pedal. Everything is as good as new and David is a top-notch pro. Thank you. I cannot say enough about him. I will keep his number for referrals and if we should ever need him again. read more

My friend was visiting me and we found this gem of a shop! We were waited on by a gal (wished I had gotten her name) but she was retired military, and she was the kindest and most helpful person! The fabric is amazing and I found the prices just the same as what I am used to paying for quality quilt fabric. Huge and diverse selection in their 7000 bolt selection. Clean, very well organized and inviting to browse. Can't wait to shop again, and my friend is bringing another suitcase with her next time to fill with beautiful fabric from The Quilt read more

I really like the layout of the store and they accept sewing machines of any kind to service. However, if you have to deal with anyone, I caution you to stay away from Shirley. Upon entering the store, she looked at me and just went back to whatever she was doing. No greeting, no smile, nothing. I'm new to the area and to the store and was hoping the store could service my machine. I stood by, waiting for someone to acknowledge me but it seemed to only be Shirley working. I finally walked up to Shirley to ask if they serviced my type of machines. She made it quite clear with her tone that I was bothering her but at least she answered my question. My husband ran out to the car to grab my machine and I found another lady working in the back of the store who was much more pleasant to work with and welcoming. So definitely give the store a chance but stay away from Shirley. read more

Shirley is the sole reason I'm giving one star. I've been going on the shop hop for the past several years and I have never been treated so poorly by an employee. Shirley was so rude throughout my entire shopping process and if I hadn't gotten fabric cut already, I would have walked out. I definitely won't be coming back. I was very impressed when I arrived. I was immediately greeted by the staff. Both women were very helpful and gave me a tour of the entire store. They have an enormous amount of fabric, they have a lot of classes on the calendar, and they have some folks coming from Accuquilt to do classes. I definitely will be back for classes and will go there when I need fabric to make another quilt. read more

I see there is another page here on yelp with this same business so I'm not sure what the deal is..but.... I never stopped in here for years, cause I thought it was just a place where some people gathered to make quilts. But wow was I surprised.. there are the most beautiful fabrics in here. They are not cheap..alot are maybe $10 a yard, but they are quality and unique and colors seem to last. I was kinda wondering after reading some reviews on here, but we went and I have been here several times and noone's ever given' us any funk. I gotta remember to check out the names next time. Cause they were nice to us. And we are a funky bunch. read more

This review is definitely a mixed one. I used this shop to have my machine repaired and serviced. I needed the automatic threader replaced as well as a good cleaning. When I dropped the machine off I was assured by the staff that the repair man was amazing. The lady behind the counter assured me that what I needed repaired would be a breeze and to have no worries as "He is the best!". This person was also going to sharpen 2 pair of scissors. *Note: the repair person is NOT an employee of this shop. He works independently and after hours to do sewing machine repairs. After a week I received a phone call from the repairman. He informed me that Pfaff does not make the part that I needed and he would not be able to get the auto-threader. It would be $98.95 to clean the machine but that was all he would be able to do. I was a bit shocked because my machine is less than 10 years old and with the advent of the internet one would think that parts could be obtained online from SOMEWHERE in the world...Surely...someone, somewhere would have this part. BUT...nope, it is not made anymore and he was apparently not in the business of utilizing the "GOOGLE Machine" in order to locate this teeny little part. So.... I did. Truly, in less than 1.4 minutes I found the part without much effort. I was frustrated and disappointed that he was not willing to do this. At this point I am a week without my machine. So I give the OK to have my machine cleaned despite what I thought was a bit pricey. ( I was expecting the cost to be closer to $75). Fast forward, we are now at just over 2 weeks. I was called and notified that I could pick up my machine. Once I got the machine home I pulled off the cover and much to my dismay it was covered in dog/cat hair. (both of which I am a lover of, neither of which I own!) The machine had hair, the foot pedals were covered in hair. The inside of the case was covered in hair! (Seriously people?!) If I give you something to repair and CLEAN, please return it in the same or better condition than you received it! Now for the icing on my already frosted cake... the scissors. I had 2 pair of amazing scissors that I have had sharpened 2 other times without incident. After close examination I see that not only are they NOT sharp, (the blades catch on one another when opening and closing) but there is a black sticky substance from the tip to the handle! ***big sigh*** Glad I saw this before I started cutting into some pricey material! It was like tar trying to get off of not only the blades but the handles as well. I found out later that this can be from putting the blades on a grinder and not finishing up the sharpening process with a hand tool. Overall the experience with the Quilt Haus staff was great. The ladies were very friendly and quite welcoming. There is a great selection of fabric, not such a great selection of quilt patterns. The shop itself I would give a solid 3. But...DO NOT take your machine in for repairs! read more

Worst customer service for any retail store I've ever used. After purchasing fabric and a pattern, I sewed a quilt top. When I washed it, one of the fabrics fell apart. I returned it to the store and was assured by an employee that the manager would "make it right." After hearing nothing for 2 weeks, I called and was told the fabric had been sent back to the manufacturer. I waited 2 more weeks and called again. This time I was told the manufacturer said I shouldn't have washed it. REALLY? I received no offer of "making it right" and no call from the manager. I'm going back to my favorite quilting store in Dripping Springs. read more

Love the fabric selection, didn't love the customer service. We stopped here while visiting New Braunfels recently. I was really impressed with how many great fabrics were squeezed into this small space. They had fabrics in so many different cubbies, and beautiful fabrics. However, the three associates working virtually ignored us and seemed overly stressed out (even though we were only customers in the store). Maybe I'm just used to a friendly quilting culture, but the woman that helped us didn't seem to love out of towners. But I did like the fabric! read more

The displayed quilts are beautiful and you probably won't find better looking fabric but the fabric is too expensive. Bought total of 2 yards for $43! Will try out online shopping. Salespeople have been mostly pleasant & helpful except for an occasional blasé one. If you just need a fat quarter might be ok. read more

I have visited the Quilt Haus many times and have always found the fabric I am looking for. Staff is friendly most of the time. I did take a machine in to be repaired and after about 3 months was told there was nothing they could do to fix it. For now it is sitting on the floor as a door stop. I truly loved that machine because of all the decorative stitches and I had used it for about 3 years without any problems, made approximately 10-12 quilt tops with it. Even though my machine could not be fixed, I wont stop going here. When I go to New Braunfels, I always make a trip to Quilt Haus to see if there are any fabrics I cant live without. read more

Wow! I got a new machine two years ago and had a really hard time finding good quality fabric. Then one day, I noticed this shop tucked back into the corner of the shopping center, could hardly see the front door of it. It looked really small. But hey I had the time. WOW!!! I am so glad I walked in there. The place really opens up on the inside and it is much bigger than it looks from outside. They have so many wonderful fabrics. Even in San Antonio quilt shops don't seem to have this much fabulous stuff. The staff is nice and one of them even has published patterns that fabric companies like Robert Kaufman promote. They have quilts made up of different fabrics so you can see how color and fabric choice affect things. I'm a beginning quilter and this place has so many examples. I learn a lot just by looking in there. And, I've become a fabricaholic due to this place. It's easy to get to too (just kinda hard to see from the parking lot). Any quilter traveling on I-35 on a Texas vacation could find this easy and should definitely stop here. My Mom is from Nebraska and she decided to start quilting again because I took her in this store. The ladies that work there are great too. Really helped me and patiently answer all my questions. 2 stars for great selection of fabrics. 0 star for sewing machine service. After having my Pfaff sewing machine there for over 3 weeks, I was charged $39.95 + tax, for cleaning, only to find out from Gromes Sewing Machine company owner, that my machine was NEVER cleaned. Gromes store owner told me to take cell phone pictures of my very dust ridden machine and get a refund. There were 2 missing screws, black smudges on the back housing of machine, and it was not properly aligned, I could see an obvious gap in the casing. I wasn't sure if I had an issue with bobbin function, "quilt haus" person could not get a response from Pfaff company on what parts needed to repair my issue, prolonging the time my machine would sit there. Emails and phone calls were never returned from store owner. I dropped off machine Oct 10, picked up machine Nov 3, I decided to get my machine and take it to original store I purchased my Pfaff 2044. Gromes store owner ran machine through paces, amazing...absolutely nothing wrong with my bobbin issue. After that observation, she opened up housing and immediately advised me to take pictures to retrieve a refund. I have not serviced my machine in 2 years, so yes, dust was very obvious, and evidently so was their lack of service. LADIES and Gents PLEASE save yourselves a headache and take your expensive PFAFF machines to Gromes store on Callaghan exit in San Antonio. Your machine will receive the proper care and attention by experts. Learned a hard lesson and paid "dumb tax" for straying away from a real Pfaff dealer. read more

Fantastic place! The selection is great, but the staff is even better! The selection of batiks is amazing. There were a few fabrics that weren't available by the bolt--only in layer cakes. The friendly and helpful staff people took my information in order to send me cuts when they arrive in stock. I've been to this store three times and every time I have been treated terribly. The first two times I was ignored and when I asked a question about fabric or to have fabric cut I was met with rolling of eyes and huffiness. Two years later I decided to go back because I was in desperate need of some special thread and didn't have time to order any like I usually do. I walk in and was not greeted, I found my thread and notice a lady was doing inventory, for awhile she would be in the same area I was cool whatever but then I noticed she no longer was putting up items she was just straight up following me. How do I know she was? I'm Hispanic I've been followed many a time in stores, it comes to a point that you realize someone is following you. I am not a normal looking quilter, I'm young, have tattoos and I was wearing a tank and short shorts when I went in there. I have complained to this place many times and they have yet to say anything to me. I have been in there where they greet other ladies with kindness but when I walk in it's like I've got the plague. I wouldn't recommend this store unless you belong in there clique. read more

I too found the fat quarters VERY expensive! I also thought the clerks were very passive/aggrssive. They seemed to be helpful, but they really weren't - they seemed to be looking for something for you - but were actually just walking around the store - not offering any suggestions - keeping one step in front of you so you couldn't ask any more questions. read more

I have been shopping at The Quilt Haus for about 2 years and my how its grown! The selections are wonderful, the staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. Prices are same as elsewhere and the sales are often and great. I've read a few other reviews and the one about the independent repairman was sad. I would post on HIS site about the awful service. I would bet the Quilt Haus doesn't use him anymore. In any case, I like shopping there, and am about to drive the 30 min. one way to go shop there this morning :). read more
