A quilters paradise. Lots of prints. Lots of fabric. Worth a stop if you are looking for great quality cotton fabric!

Recently got into sewing and stopped by to check this store out. The service was amazing. The staff were so friendly and really seemed to enjoy helping me / doing their work. I guess that's just what happens when you support local owned / small businesses. Definitely won't get that at the big chain stores. They had a big selection of fabric designs, including universities like UTSA, A&M, UT, etc. Good prices here too. I did not see any knit or specialty fabrics, as well as no sewing machines for sale or foot attachments. I did see some needles though. This store is more quilting-oriented, which they offer affordable classes and product sets for beginners. I highly recommend still stopping and shopping here if you are grabbing some basic fabrics or like quilting. read more

Great fabric selection. They don't have buttons. Nice doggo, Gypsy. They've got some licensed stuff, but I bought some beautiful fabric for a shirt for my brother. Now JoAnn's is gone, and Michael's only sells licensed stuff (I'm sure we all want to wear Disney everything), I wish they'd get buttons. read more

As others have mentioned the service is amazing. Staff so helpful on helping my husband on figuring a pattern for redoing our dining room chairs. And the selection was large for upholstery fabrics. So reasonably priced because those get pricey. Great business! read more

Dean and Maria (and everyone else) are great, and they took the time to help me shop and answer my questions. Now that I've actually been a customer here, I have to say that it has dropped to the bottom of the list of places I will shop for fabric in town -- in fact I won't ever purchase here again. They shorted me on an order and were extremely rude about it; acted as though I was trying to rip them off for the $3 worth of fabric I was owed. The man who works here (I think he's the owner?) also very condescendingly said "I don't know what to tell you, sweetie." Welp, I know where I won't be spending my fun money from now on... read more

Fantastic customer service! My party visits as three quilters together, one brand new, one intermediate, and one much more practiced. We are always able to find what we want, and then some. The employees are all crafters too, and are happy to help you find some coordinating fabrics. The store offers some great classes and a place to quilt. They sell a ton of cotton fabrics and are constantly updating to be seasonal or more modern. They also sell fun fabrics like minky, and have a large clearance section. If you weren't too particular with coordinating fabrics to go with your main one, you could definitely find something in the clearance section to save a bit of money on the overall project. Rating system: 5 stars = I'll drive across town specifically for this, and rave to all my friends about it! 4 stars = Would return and recommend. 3 stars = Indifferent, average, acceptable. 2 stars = You could drag me here unwilling. 1 star = I will not be returning. read more

Incredible quilts and upholstery store! I was staying at the Hyatt hilltop, and found this place was only about 4 miles away. I went in and was bowled over by the immense amount of books, patterns, notions, and vast array of fabrics that they carry. This is a quilters dreamland! The proprietor was very knowledgeable and helpful. We had a nice long chat and he was wearing a cute button about how we all need to support our local quilt shops. This store carries a number of delicious brands like Moda, The new grunge buy them, Robert Kaufman, Kona solids, red rooster, blue Hill. Anything your heart desires! They have wools to do wool projects and also the threads to go with them Valdani. In addition they have a wonderful sale Aisle that also might tempt you. It over tempted me and I blew my budget but that was OK! I found a number of things to add to my stash and other things like fat quarters for special projects and reproduction prints. I can't speak more highly about this place! They even have a craft room in the back where quilters are able to gather and sew at least twice a week just for free! A wonderful wonderful shop. My go to fabric shop. Great customer service. Employees remember you and are more then willing to help with fabric selections, patterns or any seeing advice you need. They offer a great selection of classes. There is a terrific selection of fabrics, batting, thread, and tools as well as upholstery material. There is a gentleman that comes in once a week that services machines and sharpens scissors. Nice guy. If your interested in classes I highly recommend you check it out! Good friendly establishment, lots of choice and stacks of fabrics. As far as designer fabrics, I'd have loved to have seen a few more; they had a few Moda choices with by the yard options, jelly rolls and charm packs. read more

I drive 45 mins just to go to this store. The first time a went here I thought... just a store. But it's not. The people are so nice, the fabric is organized so I can find what I need. If they don't have what I need, they order it for me. Get this..... they followed up with me the next day after I asked them to check on ordering me some fabric. I had always wanted to stop but- so I finally found a real reason to go! My sewing machine was having serious health problems like getting ready to be buried in the dump. So I took it to the shop and one day later they totally gave it a new lease on life! This year when we were told by northside that we couldn't use Walmart any more, I freaked out about how I would get fabric and other supplies, not because I like Walmart but because they accept open purchase orders and their prices are so cheap. Thankfully memories by the yard came to the rescue. It's a family owned business with fast and friendly service. They gave me incredible deals on good quality fabric. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there and got my many bolts of fabric for our sewing unit in less than an hour. They are on bandera and mainland and I recommend them over Joann's or Walmart who both take forever after waiting in line at the cut counter and cashier. These sweet people even loaded my car for me, I didn't have to lift a thing! Please go see them for your fabric needs, I want to keep them in business forever! read more

San Antonio does't have many quilt shops, luckily this is a quality one. It's HUGE inside and they offer a wide variety of fabric, including home decor stuff. The employees are also helpful, especially if you're terrible at putting fabric choices togethers for quilts. The best part about this place is the beginning quilting class they offer. As of this writing, it is a 7 week class that meets for three hours once a week. Its about $80. Linda Stanchos teaches it, and she is dynamite. She is a former school teacher, so she can find a way to explain complicated things that you'll actually understand, and remember. You should be able to thread your machine first, and maybe sew in a straight line. You'll make a wide variety of quilt blocks, and then quilt and bind a small lap quilt. It was so fun! She can also help you figure out what quilting tools you NEED and which are just nice to have. Quilting can be a hobby with a high start up cost, so this is good to know. There are some basic supplies you'll need, but it isn't too bad. If you complete this class you'll be able to do basically anything. I recommend the $5 quilt over at Sew Special Quilts as a good next class. This is another quilt shop that I feel needs to diversify their class offerings. Some beginning applique classes would be nice! To be fair, they do have better class options than anywhere else in town, in my experience. read more

This is my must visit quilt shop when I'm in San Antonio. The staff is fun and friendly. They gladly help you find fabrics for your projects. The store is large with a huge collection and variety of fabrics. In addition to the color wall, they have great collections of children fabrics, batiks, western, military and patriotic, novelty, Texas universities, holiday, nature, religious, etc. I have found some wonderful panels. They also have a nice selection of patterns. The price is comparable to other quilt shops. read more
