Wow, I know this is a novelty but it really does have amazing taste. We ordered the peanut butter blast in a bubble waffles and watched as they poured a thick liquid onto a cold plate. Right there in front of you they chop and mix and flatten your creation to forms your frozen desert and then they begin to start to roll it all into a yummy work of art. Absolutely delicious. It was fine. It's been a while since we've been to Rainbow Rolls. The last time we went, they were still fairly new so the line was very long. I called last night to see if there was a wait and there wasn't, so we hopped in the car and off we went. They've since added a touchscreen station to place your order. Following the instructions to order was super easy. I ordered a kid's chocolate with rainbow sprinkles and my husband ordered a cookie dough shake. My ice cream was pretty much tasteless and I feel like that's a constant thing with rolled ice cream for whatever reason. My husband said his shake was delicious. I've been seeing them all over Instagram, so since we were in the area yesterday we decided to try them. It was a little crowded, and you shouldn't go here if you're in a rush, but overall it was fun and tasty! I thought the waffle taco mode-of-delivery might be really messy. It's surprisingly not. Rolled ice cream takes a while to melt, so that makes it easier to eat. The only real issue is that the more you eat, the more the shell is prone to breaking... but it doesn't ruin the experience -- or more importantly the taste -- at all. I'm more of a flavored ice cream with a bunch of toppings kinda gal so this isn't really the place for me but it tasted good if you like plain vanilla. I got the pumpkin taco with a piece of pumpkin cake and sprinkles and my friend got the vanilla rolls tinted blue with peanut butter sauce and Reese's pieces. Both portions were huge so you can easily share and they have a ton of toppings to choose from but again nothing special. It was dead in there so no wait but it also isn't cheap. My Emmy's Coffee roll had the most authentic coffee flavor. It tasted like my latte had been turned into ice cream. And my daughter was equally happy with her Cookie Monster, chock full of three different types of cookies mixed into the ice cream roll and then topped off with even more cookies. Again, it felt like there was no limit to the toppings we could add on. The seating area was plentiful and clean, too. By the way, the shoppe was jumping! Super busy, but it didn't feel busy or congested. The interior space is huge, plenty of room for a crowd. And there were several people working behind the counter, each attentive and efficient. Wow. This place is fantastic. I'm very picky when it comes ice cream and this place hits it out of the park. First, the ice cream at Rainbow Rolls is *really good*. This is not cheap ice cream relying on toppings to make it better. Second, the combo's are so good, and so is the "cone" which is shaped more like a taco. Third, this isn't a small portion. It's a large ice cream dessert. Expensive? No. For roughly $8 you're getting the equivalent of two scoops with lots of toppings and its all made fresh right in front of you. A long wait? Well, yea, that's true right now, but gimme a break, this was opening weekend and the world has been cooped in for a year. There was a line down the block when they opened and it was very well deserved. This isn't a franchise. The product is delicious. However, for a place that has very recently opened, I was surprised to see no stake-holder presence, no adult telling the kids who work there what to do. "Oh...the six of you have nothing to do? you shouldn't be sitting on the counter. Instead, change the music so that rap music with vulgarities isn't played when little children are in the place, wipe down the nasty tables, fix the clogged up napkin holders, and clean the wet toilet seats."
