I've been to this place now twice - the first time I did not have a good experience, I've left that review as is below. I'm happy to report the second time was more in line with the reviews I've seen. We both ordered the Veggie Spicy Miso, and as recommended the first time, I asked for softer noodles. This time, both sets of noodles were fully cooked - just for the record, the noodles I was served the first time still had a white opaque core visible and did not drape over the chopsticks. The broth was great, really tasty, though there wasn't a strong miso flavor. With the mild spice setting, the broth had a pleasant warming burn. It was hot enough to soften the fresh baby spinach on contact, and it comes with a square of seasoned nori which is a nice touch. For lunch we had had complimentary appetizers, this time for dinner we also had complimentary pumpkin fritters. So, food and ambiance can deserve 4 stars, but I'm still not a fan on average, which is why I'm keeping this review at 3 stars.
For all the glowing reviews for this place, I must have been there on an off day. I ordered the veggie broth ramen, my friend a spicy salmon. The experience started out well with unexpected starters of edamame for myself and meat on a stick for my friend. However, the ramen left us both cold. The broth was warm but not steaming, the noodles were so al dente that i'm sure the uncooked core crunched under my teeth. I understand not wanting to serve soggy noodles, but I'm used to ramen that's pliable but firm; this was stiff. The waitress had already been brusque with me when we were being seated, so I did not relish asking if they could possibly heat up my bowl just a few minutes more. I was met with the comment, this is how we serve our noodles, al dente, if you want them very soft you have to order them very soft. I'm still glad I braved being an annoying customer - at over 10 euro for a bowl, I guess I deserve at least to almost enjoy my meal? To cap it off, the eggs were too salty yet undercooked - the yolks were almost completely liquid and a bit of the white gel-like. I'm willing to spend a pretty penny for food in a restaurant, especially if it's food I couldn't make at home - but I recognized the broth flavor to be very similar to the yellow veggie broth powder you can buy in health food stores. I will give them another chance, and I will order my noodles "very soft" - here's hoping because I would love to have a ramen place in Dublin to go to. read more
