The atmosphere is a low key cafe with lots of seating. The menu is very simplistic but has enough variety to entertain many different tastes. The coffee was good and the waitress was able to keep my cup full. Service was a little slower than normal but nothing too extreme. I ordered the steak and eggs with pancakes. The steak was REALLY tough and chewy, but the pancakes were nice and fluffy. We went to pay and I noticed that the hostess had a plate of food at the front which made me think "Well no wonder our food took longer than usual, because it is more important to feed staff than it is the guests." Although it is a small diner we still expect decent service. If I were passing through again I would stop since this is the only alternative to fast food breakfast and waffle house. read more

Location: easy to find, parking is easy. Food: I got the chicken fried steak, which is my go-to for most diners. You know exactly what you're getting with with this item - the cheapest piece of beef, pounded and deep-fried. Par for the course in that regard. Not too heavily battered but appropriate for Texas. Amount of gravy was on point; often times, I find that there is way too much, thereby making the last few bites soggy or not enough, leaving you feeling shortchanged. Had about enough to mop up with one of the pieces of bread. Fries were standard, perhaps a tad on the greasy side of things, but this is a diner. Service: I was with a bunch of regulars, which may be why the service was particularly good, but I'm sure they're nice to everyone. They probably could have done a slightly better job of getting all the food out at once; there was about a 10-15 minute gap between first to last, but we also had a dozen or so people, so it's not unreasonable. Worst service ever waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food and it was cold. Twenty minutes after we ate, my wife had severe stomach cramps. Would give Zero stars if I could. Now we're down to two stars. We went in yesterday and after 10 minutes of no one acknowledging us or the couple ahead of us, we left. It has gotten a bit ridiculous. This place is totally adorable and very authentic. I had fried catfish with side fixins. YUM! You HAVE to come for the pie for dessert. Upon arrival, needed to wait to be seated. Waited 7-10 minutes to be seated. Not packed. While we waited we looked thru the menu. We went for lunch at about 1:15 pm and lunch arrived 20 minutes after placing the order. Dad & I ordered a cheeseburger & fries and were very pleased with our burger. Delicious and juicy, cooked medium well. Mom order fried shrimp with onion rings and she mentioned it was all good. I tasted the onion rings and they were good as well!!! Brother had a NY steak and looked a bit tough to cut in to but he said it tasted good. I can't comment on that as he didn't share . All good. Two of our plates came with salad and we never got the salad. Food overall was good. Waiters...they didn't have a good day I suppose as they were not on top of things and took long. I used to eat breakfast here at least once a month. It's a nice little country themed restaurant that serves a variety of southern foods. The food is pretty good and the servers are friendly. I like the biscuits and gravy. It can be slow sometimes though so you have to be willing to wait on the weekends. read more

I love their food, but today, when they weren't very busy, my boyfriend and I sat there for 10 min waiting on drinks, then another 45 min before our food was "said to come out," and it still didn't come out. We were told numerous times it was coming and never did. I used to waitress and this was the WORST service I've experienced. I waited in the front for over 10 minutes and nobody even greeted us. 3 different servers walked by us and didn't say a word. Menu has changed! Everything starts with a basic, such as a burrito for $2.50 and you add the ingredients ala carte. Add ons .50 and up. A piece of bacon $1.00. You have to create your own breakfast. Service was a bit slow but food was pretty good, nothing really spectacular about it. If you're not in a hurry you will enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and slow pace. read more

At least the server was honest and said it was pre-made. That should have been my first hint to go somewhere else. I ordered the mesquite grilled chicken thinking that there's no way that it could be pre-made. Hard to tell when I got it. It had a good char grilled flavor and was juicy so I can't complain about that. For sides I ordered mashed potatoes and gravy with "homemade macaroni and cheese". Both sides were pre-made generic cafeteria style. False advertising to say the least. I grew up going to small "ranch house" cafes and I expect homemade foods just like I would have gotten growing up. If I want generic tasting pre-made food I would go to Furr's Cafeteria. read more
