I was here on 3/22/26. The chicken tender basket meal was really good--crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and full of flavor, onion rings were delicious too. It was made fresh because it was so hot to eat. The atmosphere was just as enjoyable, with a clean and welcoming vibe that made it easy to relax and enjoy the meal. Not good at all. Been here 4 times and I simply don't like the school cafeteria taste.

This was the second time we got cheese burgers, 1 with fries, 1 with onion rings. The hamburger patty was pulverized both times and the fries were soggy with grease. The onion rings had very little batter on them and they were grease soaked. I would like to see a different cook, one that knows how to cook! Not a good meal both times. read more

Great breakfast burritos. Had the bacon and sausage breakfast burrito with green chili stew. It was big enough for my husband and I to share and delicious. My husband also had the biscuits and gravy with the jalapeño gravy. The gravy was delicious. We didn't care for the biscuits as well. Very flat and not flaky. Traveling through Canyon Texas and wanted to get early breakfast before hitting the road. Buffs was open at 7am and was a quaint setting with bar and dining area. Ordered at the bar and food was delivered promptly. My husband got biscuits and gravy and I got breakfast burrito. His biscuit was buttery with a little crispness on the edge and plenty of sausage gravy. My burrito was made on a 12 inch tortilla and stuffed full...enough to split. Highly recommend! First off the person at the register who took our order acted like we were bothering her. It took 42 minutes to get our order which was cold. The burger is a skinny little patty with tons of topping that make it look big. Not impressed. I really don't understand why its score is so high. read more

I had the wonderful opportunity to stop through here with a large group of friends in the run-up to the Palo Duro Trail Ultra. It was actually recommended by one of my fellow runners and did not disappoint. The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate large groups like ours. The menu is huge and varied, spanning from American fare to Mexican, really capturing the flavors of the region. They might be known for their burgers, but the salads are incredible. I personally loved the stuffed avocado with chicken. Did not disappoint as fuel for the next day's run! This is counter service only. You come in, place your order, and wait for your number to pop up on a screen. The food comes out way at the back. They also have beer in bottles here to help wash down the delicious bites. The food is well worth the price here, too. Can't wait to make a day of coming back to Palo Duro and stopping in to eat at Buff's! read more

We found Buff's on the way out to hike. We stopped in originally for breakfast and realized their breakfast menu only consisted of a few items - taped on the wall at the order counter. Yelp typically doesn't disappoint so we opted to stay and order breakfast. My guy's breakfast burrito was huge - and flavorful. We didn't realize how large the portions were and so couldn't finish the biscuits and gravy we ordered to share. Dang, as they were SO good - white gravy, on point seasoning and crumbled sausage. Yum. My Avocado Scramble plate was also really tasty. We were intially bummed that their online breakfast menu wasn't available, but 3 out of the 4 or so choices they did offer were all fabulous. Staff were helpful and friendly as well. This place is massive, with indoor and outdoor seating areas. And they have a bar, so we made a note and stopped back by on our way home from the hike. Cheap drinks, strong poors and local beer. Score! Buff's is really close to Palo Duro Canyon, and you can bet we will stop back in for lunch / dinner and drinks when we travel back through! read more

Superb breakfast! I had the scrambled eggs with ham and cheese on top of an avocado. It was probably the best breakfast I ever had and comes with hash browns and a choice of bread. My husband had the breakfast burrito with Philly cheesesteak meat as his choice and said it was great. Both of us could only eat half of our breakfast. read more

Tried this place after hiking in Palo Duro one Sunday. Unfortunately, they were out of most of the items we tried to order. Looks like a fun place to hang out and have a drink with friends. Wait staff was friendly, but it did take a bit to get our food out. Once the food was ready, we couldn't eat one hamburger bc it wasn't fully cooked (pink and cold). When you have small kids almost any restaurant with a play area is a win! Buffs has a nice sand box area with a small slide which was perfect to entertain our twins. Where do I even start. Rarely do you ever stumble into a place that has a drive though and think to yourself "there might be something to this place"... but unbelievable as it may sound, Buffs is just that. Obviously a college-level dive, but the food was amazing. Very reasonably priced (as all restaurants walking distance to college dorms should be) and great mimosas and specials, even at 11 am on a Sunday. Service is cafeteria style, but the staff are helpful to anyone with a question. Can't wait to find ourselves in Canyon on a Saturday night and experience this place with the locals. read more

Ate at Buff's a few years ago and again last weekend. This place has been remodeled and it's definitely one of the top three restaurants in Canyon. A customer recommended this place after finishing a job for her. I got recommended the green chili burger and I ordered it with onion rings and a dressed corona. Which is a must after a hard days worth of work! The burger was great!! The onion rings didn't have a thick crust which made it great with the ranch they provided! Beware & check your call in orders. After numerous inquires about why our normal order was more than usual, including calling the shift lead over to drive thru and getting nowhere with her. They had no interest in getting to the bottom of it. I get home and realize I was given two 4 piece steak finger + fries instead of the two 4 piece chicken fingers + fries I ordered. I told the two ladies numerous times I ordered chicken (which is the cause for the higher price. I call on way back to drive thru. The team lead claims I said I ordered steak and that flat isn't true. It was a mistake with the person who took the order. All I wanted was two 4 piece chicken or my money back, which she refused to do stating it's a large comp and the owners wouldn't allow it since she's had to many comps today. So now she's crying and stating she will just pay for it out of her own pocket so she doesn't get in trouble. After 50 min we finally got our two chicken fingers. If these employees really have to pay out of pocket when a mistake is made these employees should find employment elsewhere. And as we are leaving the lead promises she will refund my $2 extra I was charged for the steak and of course it hasn't been refunded yet. read more

If you're in Canyon, this is the place you have to be. Stopped by on our road trip and this place did not disappoint!! My kids really loved playing in the sandpit while waiting for the food to come out (despite this Mom's personal ickiness about sand pits but that's a story for another day) The food came out pretty quickly and the staff were super nice. The hubs kitchen sink was not supposed to have cheese (he is dairy allergic) and they were so nice to bring him another one without. The biscuits and gravy is one of my kid's litmus test for how good a brunch place is. She said it's one of the best she's had (and she's had it A LOT). My other kiddo opted for the French toast + bacon (which she placed on my plate). The French toast was perfect amount and the slices were thick! She loved putting her syrup on and eating away! I just got a simple 1 egg scrambled with an English muffin and it filled me up! Protein for a day of hiking and touring. If you get the chance, sit al fresco outside.
