Random stop of the day and found a unique "Stranger Things" Monopoly game board. While it was on the pricier side, I did t mind supporting local businesses instead of online shopping. Friendly and welcoming customer service. Had an array of games that I'd never even seen or heard of before. Cool find to check out for unique gifts or collectibles. It's an older venue so it looks dated, but if you peruse, you may find a unique gift or comic to add to your collection.

This past Saturday was Free Comic Book Day - and I was heading up to see my girlfriend's family in Fontana, so I couldn't hit up my favorite store in San Diego. I did a little research beforehand, found out that The Realm Games and Comics was participating, and made the call to come here. Even with all the crowds, the lines were easy to navigate - I got the books I was looking for, and even purchased a couple of titles for myself (20% off comics and graphic novels for the day). The staff were friendly and accomodating, and I noticed there were a couple of games of Heroclix starting for veteran players and newbies. One star off, though, for the graphic novel selection being rather limited - I wanted to get a Street Fighter one for my girlfriend's nephew as a birthday present, but the majority in stock were DC, Marvel, and Image. There are some independent/small press titles, but the case that they're in is rather small and I couldn't fully peruse it due to the throngs present for FCBD. If you're a superhero fan, this is nice, but if you like independent smaller publishers, you may have to travel elsewhere. I will admit, though, that seeing an independent comic book store chugging along is nice, and that the support for card and tabletop gaming for players is good to see. If I lived in the area, The Realm would be one of the places I'd frequent on a regular basis.

I came here to pass some time before class, had a full stomach due to a late lunch so while cruising around, I found this little shop. First off, they have a wide comic book collection and also, collectibles, board games, card games, posters, etc. However, if you are looking for comics you are at the right place. In all honesty, the prices are marked on the back of each comic book and they sell the items (as is) so that means no discount. If you are looking for comics and have patience, I would highly recommend Amazon because they have almost 5-8 dollars off each book. However, if you are looking for a gift and have an urgency to get something right away, then its not a bad place to go (-: If you are not tech savy and dont have access to Amazon, then you are at the right place. 3 stars- due to price.

The first time I visited this shop was about 2 months ago and this place is starting to become one of my 'go-to' comic book stores. The Realm is stocked with all the recent issues/ tpb's from all publishers. Everything is stocked neatly and very organized. They also have A LOT of stuff for gaming.. cards, pieces, etc. While most comic book stores close around 7 pm, The Realm is conveniently open until 10 pm. The staff is cool, they always greet and offer help. I honestly don't know why the negative reviews depict the employees so harshly, they've always been courteous and helpful when I go. My verdict: The Realm is a great shop in a nice area that'll most likely have what you're looking for. Go and check it out!

As someone new to comic books, walking into a shop can sometimes feel intimidating, but the environment at Comic Book Hide Out is simply second to none. The staff is incredibly friendly, inviting, and highly knowledgeable. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and completely at home while you shop. If you are an amateur like me and don't exactly know what you're looking for, there is absolutely zero pressure. Instead, they offer gentle nudges toward the best content that perfectly fits your personality and needs. The entire staff is phenomenal, but I have to give a special shoutout to the owner and the GM. They are the best two people I've encountered in a business setting in a very long time. Their passion for what they do and the way they treat their customers truly sets this shop apart. I cannot recommend this place enough!

The staff was very knowledgeable about comics and eager to banter about them. Prices are slightly high but the selection is top notch. In the back of the store are tables and comfy couches for gamers to gather and play.

Make sure you give yourself ample time as there is so many different books and sections. So nicely curated a with so many options. You are greeted as you enter and the staff is very helpful with any questions. I loved the postcards and dvds and variety. Everything is priced well and you can leave with a great deal. They also do fire sales every quarter. They also had really cute tote bags. If you have a book lover in your life this is a wonderful place to visit. I overheard other people gushing over their hidden gem finds, too. In the end, I got 8 books, 2 postcards, and 1 tote for less than $26. On a normal day, would I have left with all 8 books? No, but I definitely would have left with 4 of them for almost the same price. Great finds with great prices. Will definitely come back on a regular day, too.

It was a 2 day event Sat and Sun. The admission was $20 per day on Sunday. It was a fairly slow Sunday, no crowds, which isn't a complaint but maybe even a compliment for comfort. The exhibit hall was spacious and filled with many dealers. A lot of high end comics and national dealers who you'd see at major comic cons nationwide. I did notice that there were not as many of those "treasure hunt" type "dollar bin" dealers present, but was a 2nd room more focused on the raw (ungraded) comics priced/valued under $10 By reputation this is still one of the best conventions for pure collector's comics, especially for rare and higher end comics. I also saw, an emerging (from the last time I attended) presence of Original Art dealers and merchandise. They also had a larger more formal exhibitor list that included more corporate companies and celebrity creators as guests. The show seemed to have lost part of its folksy casual vibe and atmosphere to that regard. There was a parking fee but an option for Free parking in a neighboring retail shopping complex.

This is a show for comic book readers and collectors, not casual fans. Parking was free with a $10 admission. Held in the Community Center of Orange County's beautiful Yorba Linda, CCC utilized a patio and two meeting rooms. It's true that you could walk around the show in about 3 minutes but you've got comics of all eras and prices to flip through. I picked up a short stack of Avengers and Sgt. Fury for .50 a piece and there were plenty of sellers with boxes of half priced graphic novels. Many a buyer had their lists out as they skimmed through boxes looking to complete their collections. Comic guests Marv Wolfman and Thomas Yeates were on hand and the organizers did a great job of putting on a small scale show with a hot dog and taco guy outside, cheap snacks inside and hourly raffle prizes. This year coincided with a Frank & Son Sunday show only 15 minutes away so it was a great, double Con day only 45 minutes outside Los Angeles.
