My friends and I have enjoyed coming to The Realm for years. Their main focus is on Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, Warhammer 40K, D&D, and Lorcana. They have a wide selection of other board games and accessories too. They also have a library of Magic the Gathering and Pokemon singles. Their price points are comparable to what you might find on ebay, so minus the shipping and the wait of buying online, this place is superior. I don't want to get anyone who works at the store in trouble for doing their job, but the more approachable guys are the taller ones or whoever is working at register 3. The shorter dudes come with shorter attitudes. Lastly, they do a TON of game nights, do a lot of promotions, and have a lot of space! read more

These guys have always been kind to me, and the selection they've got is a prime set. I primarily shop 40K here, but they've got a pretty wide variety of systems represented! They don't upcharge for their Warhammer models and the discount essentially counters the sales tax and maybe a buck or two more, which I appreciate a lot. Makes my plastic crack addiction just that teeny bit more affordable. LOL. Their temporary location is nice, but I'm definitely looking forward to when they're back in their remodeled space sometime this year. Whenever I'm looking for new 40K kits, I either go here, Side Quest, or the Warhammer Cafe. The other two are probably more my speed when it comes to the community, but The Realm manages to stay pretty competitive with their space, service, and selection. read more

Gf and I wandered into this shop just for a quick look. We came during a Warhammer session, and so it was moderately busy. They had some pretty good deals going on, like 2 for $1 comics and discounted graphic novels. As someone who's not entirely invested in comics, it was nice to pick it a few issues for cheap to start with. Didn't have employees come and help us or ask questions, but that's wasn't necessary since we were browsing. The place is somewhat small, but it is organized and doesn't feel like there's just comics lying around loosely. Would definitely come back again if we're in the area. read more

Random stop of the day and found a unique "Stranger Things" Monopoly game board. While it was on the pricier side, I did t mind supporting local businesses instead of online shopping. This past Saturday was Free Comic Book Day - and I was heading up to see my girlfriend's family in Fontana, so I couldn't hit up my favorite store in San Diego. I did a little research beforehand, found out that The Realm Games and Comics was participating, and made the call to come here. Even with all the crowds, the lines were easy to navigate - I got the books I was looking for, and even purchased a couple of titles for myself (20% off comics and graphic novels for the day). The staff were friendly and accomodating, and I noticed there were a couple of games of Heroclix starting for veteran players and newbies. One star off, though, for the graphic novel selection being rather limited - I wanted to get a Street Fighter one for my girlfriend's nephew as a birthday present, but the majority in stock were DC, Marvel, and Image. There are some independent/small press titles, but the case that they're in is rather small and I couldn't fully peruse it due to the throngs present for FCBD. If you're a superhero fan, this is nice, but if you like independent smaller publishers, you may have to travel elsewhere. I will admit, though, that seeing an independent comic book store chugging along is nice, and that the support for card and tabletop gaming for players is good to see. If I lived in the area, The Realm would be one of the places I'd frequent on a regular basis. read more

I came here to pass some time before class, had a full stomach due to a late lunch so while cruising around, I found this little shop. First off, they have a wide comic book collection and also, collectibles, board games, card games, posters, etc. However, if you are looking for comics you are at the right place. In all honesty, the prices are marked on the back of each comic book and they sell the items (as is) so that means no discount. If you are looking for comics and have patience, I would highly recommend Amazon because they have almost 5-8 dollars off each book. However, if you are looking for a gift and have an urgency to get something right away, then its not a bad place to go (-: If you are not tech savy and dont have access to Amazon, then you are at the right place. 3 stars- due to price. read more

I found this place back in 2018 and enjoyed the comics. Got into Warhammer and I have been enjoying spending my time here. They have a lot of tables, and a solid amount of terrain for in-store playing. It's active at night but I have never had a tough time accessing the wargaming tables. They have also ordered things online for me and I could get some speciality mini's and board games. 10/10 read more

The first time I visited this shop was about 2 months ago and this place is starting to become one of my 'go-to' comic book stores. The Realm is stocked with all the recent issues/ tpb's from all publishers. Everything is stocked neatly and very organized. They also have A LOT of stuff for gaming.. cards, pieces, etc. While most comic book stores close around 7 pm, The Realm is conveniently open until 10 pm. The staff is cool, they always greet and offer help. I honestly don't know why the negative reviews depict the employees so harshly, they've always been courteous and helpful when I go. My verdict: The Realm is a great shop in a nice area that'll most likely have what you're looking for. Go and check it out! read more

I've been to The Realm a few times, and each time I've gone it's been great service and a great atmosphere. It's fun to walk in and see people enjoying some games while browsing the shop. The workers are super nice and are very encouraging, I asked for a recommendation on starting painting mini's and the guys there gave me a full crash course and showed me tons of great options from a huge selection. I hate the employees at this place; they are rude, short sighted and never follow up on special orders I have placed for comics or products. They have a pretty decent selection of books and merchandise but Cthulhu help you if you ask them to special order a book you want them to have in stock. The employees are young and are constantly rude and dismissive whenever you try to speak with them or need assistance with an item or product. I once asked them to place an order and I gave them my name, email and a phone number so I could be notified when my product would arrive. A few weeks pass and I realize that I have not received a notice from them; curious, I went back to the store to investigate. The employee behind the register rolled his eyes, sighed and asked my name and other info. I told him and he literally pretended to look up my order; he looked up at me and said flatly: 'You're not in our system.' Exasperated; I told him my information again and he pretended to plug in my info and order once more. A few more weeks pass; still no product. I go back to the store and again, ask him where my product was. "You're not in our system.." the sheer incompetence the employees exhibit in this store is beyond baffling and just as frustrating! Enter at your own risk; I now order my comics online via Amazon or publishers directly, I've no interest in visiting this place ever again. read more

Have been coming here for almost 2 years for my graphic novel needs. I've tried other places, but they just don't match up. They are always on top of stocking new issues on their release dates, and have an impressive selection of back issues. Good selection of books, toys and other various paraphernalia. And although it's not my specialty, they have a vast section of board, card and roleplaying games, and hold regular tournaments. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable, can answer pretty much any question you have. Jon's a great guy. I came here for FCBD this year, and out of the few places I hit up this was by far the best. Customers were allowed 10(!) of the special FCBD issues, and then 10 MORE from another box. AND, a lollipop. Meltdown in LA only allowed 3, and NO lollipop. I think we know who the winner is here. read more

The day I went there were many $1 comics so I was sure to use the opportunity to add to my collection. My girlfriend wanted to get in on the action too and decided to purchase two comic books but when we drove off, noticed she only had one and was charged for one. Maybe the cashier left it out? I'm new to comic books and this store removed any "newbie" stigma that I feared. The kind and knowledgeable staff knows when to let you browse and how to offer suggestions that understood my developing tastes. The store is clean (unlike others I've been to) and well organized which makes it easy to explore. The staff sets the tone for the store culture as theirs always people playing a tabletop game and do a great job of being kind while knowing how to not be intrusive. After a few negative experiences in the past at other places, I'm grateful for this spot and make it a regular stop. I went in today and they had a fun collection starter box $50 and get 100 books (all divided by marvel, DC, etc.) I'm a few books in and found this to be perfect for where I'm at. Clean and neat store BUT Incredibly stingy on game prize support and lacking in judge support. When you make $20 on a store champ kit, you don't hand out one promo card a piece and keep 20+ THEN not give out the most valuable cards to save them for a future tournament people from out of town can't and won't be able to attend. On top of that, then have your TO and judge (who didn't really know the game) leave halfway through your biggest tournament for that game? Cmon. We were left self reffing at an official store championship with a lady who knew nothing about the game and wasn't very friendly. To top it all off, when you have people make the trip to play in said hostage Promo tournament and can break even on a $15 prize kit, you give the whole thing out! You don't refuse to run a tournament. I have no doubt if 4 people had showed up we would have been given half the kit, because that's how stingy this store is. You break even and maybe make a few bucks and players will come back. I know a good number won't be back now after this garbage. Visit gameology or dice house instead. They're not into micromanaging nickels and dimes. read more

Came here for Free Comic Book Day 2019. Everything was very well organized, the line to get in was very orderly, staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. All the free comics were laid out in an efficient manner, and I was able to get in and out in less than half an hour. I will definitely come back to pick up more comics in the future! read more

I live about 30 minutes away from this store, but I drive here instead of a closer store because I love the service here. Every tie I go in, without even looking up my account they know what it was I bought the last visit and are always asking how I enjoyed it. The game section is great, and the staff is really knowledgeable about their products which helps them give great recommendations. This is probably the best gaming/comic book store I've been to. The owner is a really nice guy. There are tables on one half of the store for playing wargames or whatever you want to do. Most of the patrons (your fellow players) are pretty cool guys. You don't have to worry about anyone getting in your face about your armies being painted or anything like that like at a games workshop store. The selection of board games is excellent as well when you need to get your fix right away versus being patient and saving a few dollars on amazon or something. But hey, if youre going to come here and use the tables, why not spend your money here? Cause you and I both know that its a pain in the ass to to have an 8'x4' table anywhere and have to maintain it and all that. Plus there's a soda fridge. read more

Pretty great place! I go for the comics, so that's what this review is based around. They have nice selection of the popular comics of today, which is mostly what I read, and a few boxes of discounted back issues of some other comics as well. Most of their popular comics are on a really nice display so you can find what you are looking for pretty easily. The only thing I didn't really like was that on top of the boxes of comics, on a table, there was a bunch of stuff. Stacks and stacks of stuff. Sometimes other comics stacked on top of the boxes of comics. If i wanted to look into one of the boxes, I had to move all this junk out of the way. Not exactly what I want to do when I'm already holding items in one hand. They need to find a way to make that area more organized. read more
