This posting is for the Tavern restaurant, located at the Little Cat Lodge. After a day of driving through area to see the foliage, I stopped off at the Little Cat Lodge for dinner which is located near the base of Catamount Mountain Resort on the NY/MA state line. The place wasn't too busy when I arrived just after the 5pm opening time since the ski resort was still off season. Reservations are recommended, but I walked in and took a seat up at the bar. The hostess brought over a dinner & drinks menu. The dinner menu offers creative snack dishes, soups, salads, appetizers, pastas (vegetarian), main entrees (schnitzel, fish, roasted chicken, tavern burger, strip steak vegetarian entree) and desserts. The drink menu offers cocktails, wine, draft & bottle/can beers, non-alcoholic beer, mineral water, club sodas, Mexican Coke, and Boylan sodas. The prices are moderate here. I ordered a Tavern Burger ($21 plus tax) and Bread Service (complementary*). The Bread came out first, which were two thick soft and chewy pieces of sourdough bread with a mix of seeds baked into the bread served with cultured soft butter surrounded by more salted seeds. The Tavern Burger was thick which had a juicy grilled ground beef patty with grilled sweet onions, conte cheese & red plum sauce on a toasted sesame brioche bun served with crispy small potatoes with skins, ketchup was provided and I also used the cultured butter from the bread service for the potatoes. I requested a box for the burger so I could get dessert. For dessert, I ordered the Almond Pavlova ($12 plus tax) which was comprised of a mix of fruits, blueberries, candied almonds & whipped creme fraiche (not sweet) and topped with two large crunchy pieces of sweet meringue. The food overall was solid good. The dinner check for one was $35.64 with tax and before tip. The lodge is in two states technically, but most of it is in Hillsdale NY, hence the 8% NY meals tax charged instead of 6.25% MA meals tax (no local option) in Egremont MA. The service from the bartender was attentive with ice water and condiments given and the food was served to me by other staff.

What a great find . Superior rooms with Mountain View , 2 bedroom 2bath Apts . Hardwood floors and can sleep a family of 6 nicely . You are right at the slopes just a short walk . The restaurant is well run , nice ambiance with mood lighting and even a fireplace in one of the 2 dining rooms . A beautiful friendly bar and even better food. We had the butter lettuce starter . The dressing was amazing . I enjoyed the Flank Steak and it was prepared just the way I like it with a nice tangy sauce if you like . The beef was served with homemade steak frites . Delicious . My friend has the risotto with fresh mushrooms . It was tasty also . The apple tartan was eaten to finish the dinner . The wine list is lengthy and interesting. I would plan to make a reservation for a weekend visit . Open early around 5 for dinner and closes at 9/10 pm . I hope you like it as much as I did . Great weekend or ON from Nyc . The bathroom amenities are quality and the beds were comfortable. Bathroom had a double sink and both a shower and a separate soaking tub . Tv you need to download chrome cast and have a gmail acct to login to tv service . Also maybe some area with a lamp for reading , lighting is dim . Small fridge and micro wave and some cooking items and plates . Just needed a kitchen towel : paper towels . Parking was easy just dark parking after dark so use you flashlight. A small village center not far away with all you need . Thanks for a nice visit.

Appreciated the charging station next to the bed and space efficient folding table / night stand too. All the furnishings were fun and quirky - not a boring or sterile hotel furniture at all. Steele, the property manager is thoughtful and full of great recommendations for nearby things to do and places to eat. Basically Yelp all the nearby top eats - lots in NY without having to cross to MA (Hillsdale, Cross Roads, Four Brothers, Roe Jan, etc) Felt very safe during COVID - contactless check in and out, no room service during your stay (you don't need it) but they empty your bins and sort trash / recyclables every night. As a green vegetarian myself, I appreciate a green mission statement! Noticed some cleaning supplies were also "green". We snowboarded at Catamount conveniently 2M down the road and hiked Bash Bish Falls (crowded but nice) and Audubon Sanctuary (less trafficked mossy trail). Would love to revisit in a warmer season! Perfect city getaway or restful stop on your journey.

Ok so the good and the not so good. The good is that it's not pricy and the "bedroom " is cute …read more The bed and the bed linens were crisp and clean . All good. The sconces and head board were cute and they have a nice little basic TV. Also the porch outside the room was nice to have so that you didn't feel as if you were trapped in a room.... Ok now the not so good is the shower and bathroom---- it's clean and new so that's GOOD. It's just the design - no one wants to touch fabric/ vinyl shower curtains , the floor is grey so it has a prison feel and the whole bathroom looks like they got them off the shelves of Home Depot or Lowe's . Not my cup of tea... feels cheap and not comfortable ;( I really disliked the bathroom situation and the towels, while new, were designed with freying edges . Which made them feel dingy ;( I won't come back but if you are in a pinch and there is no place else to go you won't be disappointed .. just know what to expect.......... If the owners are reading this... please take cues from other boutique hotels in the Hudson area. Make it cute - use better products-- use tile and glass and upgrade the place.... Also don't wallpaper the place yourselves, it shows ..... the place looks like it will fall apart in a year or two ;(

Update: On 6/29/26 the "owner" of this hotel using a phone number linked to "mergo property…read moremanagement" texted me to offer a full refund for deleting my original review. It was a scummy move on his part and a scummy move on my part to accept it and delete the google review. What followed was two weeks of saying to watch for it its been sent, claiming an incorrect amount, incorrect credit card, incorrect booking site, refusing to refund via venmo or paypal because the refund has been sent, walking back a statement to refund via venmo if not received by today 7/13/26 and a threat to cancel the supposedly non cancelable refund if my review was reposted. So the review is back, and another will be posted with regard to the owners deception given it was seperate from the original stay. Tldr: No staff on hand, pictures appear better than room, no ac on a humid 90 degree day, non functioning door pad, windows left unlocked, ground level room with peeling painted floor, unsealed holes in wall and tub to floor allowed insects, frog and salamander into room, various unpainted patched holes and damaged trim surfaces, unfinished osb and drywall screw furnishings, smoke detector near bed had a strobe light flashing every 30 seconds or so through the night, toilet was not secured to floor, Very doubtful the room would pass a board of health inspection. Mattress was nice 0 response from motel after a week of sending email of concerns.

Super helpful, creative eye and always available for advice. The rooms were so beautifully decorated. All set with the cutest fridge and snack station with everything you'd ever want. The bathroom was super well lit and also decorated so uniquely. The Alander is located in the center of a ton of activities and super close to the Berkshires. Also a lot of great hikes available. They also have a gorgeous firepit that we took advantage of at night. Not to mention their restaurant - The North Star. Delicious and convenient. I would absolutely stay here again and have already brought it up to family. Put The Alander on your list!

There was a message that AFTER you enter the room there is a phone number to call so we did call from the one room we could access and it went to the same VM. We waited till there was someone at the restaurant and she was able to call the mystery people from this hotel and get our second room code. The bathtub was filthy. The ceiling had spots. See photos. What a gem of a place…read more We were looking for someplace rustic yet refined- and this was the perfect blend of both. Perfect weekend getaway. And we were treated to an amazing jazz band on Friday night! No front desk everything is handled by text it call and that worked just fine for us. Very responsive and helpful. The rooms do not have TVs or mini fridges- but you aren't here anyhow to watch TV. Really comfortable bed and perfect for a peaceful nights slumber. The property is beautiful - plenty of hiking and walking trails. Great locations and amazing views. Do not overlook the stagecoach tavern in the property for dinners- I'll review that separately. Breakfasts were amazing and the same superior quality as the restaurant. Best food we have had in a long time. The staff is more than happy to accommodate you in the private sauna or an outside fire with smores! Looking forward to our next trip here.

Buyer beware! I'll break this review up into three parts because there are a lot of moving parts…read morehere. Booking/ pricing/ management: We stayed a night at the Race Brook Lodge to see a concert a little while ago. At first glance, a stay here looks a little pricey based on what you appear to be getting. In my head, $200 for a small room in a converted barn is steep. When I went to book it, I was asked to select a "package." There was one advertising a nights stay, a three course dinner in the Stagecoach Tavern, and breakfast the next day for $185. I thought since dinner and breakfast were included, that wasn't such a bad deal after all. Total cost after taxes and fees when I hit the purchase button: $201 Imagine my surprise when I got my confirmation email and took a look at the receipt- $309. I quickly looked at my credit card statement, sure enough- $309. I sent them an email immediately asking what was up with the extra $108. Crickets. Oh well, I figured I could just hash it out with them when we got there. I came to find out that there is no front desk, and everything is handled over text messages, so that made it a little more difficult. When the time came to check out, I got a text asking me to click a link to view my "balance." I clicked it and discovered that they were attempting to charge me another $92. At this point I sent them another email and told them that this felt like a scam, and that I would be disputing the charges with my credit card. They responded right away saying that there was a miscommunication, the "package" was actually separate from the room charge and that they were supposed to let me know of that right after I booked, but someone dropped the ball. They did eventually honor the original $201 price that I was quoted, but if I hadn't noticed the discrepancy or been firm about fixing it, I can't imagine they would have refunded it by themselves. Sidenote: when looking closely at the dinner/breakfast package pricing- it's an absolute ripoff. "Package" dinner: $150 Meals Tax: $10.50 Billed gratuity: $24.00 All in- $184.50. For ONE person. For dinner and a middle of the road buffet breakfast? The "three course dinner" allows you to pick any starter, entree, and dessert from the restaurant menu. If you picked the three most expensive items in each category, it would be $104. Plus a $15 breakfast, you're still not even in the neighborhood of $150. I suppose selecting the meal package bestows on you the honor of donating an extra $31 to the owners of the lodge. Great deal! The Room: We were happy enough with our room. It was nothing special, but it had air conditioning, hot water, and it was clean: really my only three boxes that need to be checked by a hotel. The photos on their website appear to be from 2017, which made me a little weary, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the room actually looked better in person. We stayed in the Hayloft #7 room. The concert in the barn: The concert we saw was EXCELLENT. The barn is an amazing venue for a small show like the one we saw. Everyone was giving each other a respectful amount of space, and there truly was not a bad view to be found anywhere. It was hot inside the night we were there, but when it gets to be a little much, you can just step outside, grab a glass of water and some fresh air, and come back in and still have an amazing view of the show. As far as concert venues go, it doesn't get much better than that. All in all, I can't recommend staying here. I'd go see another show in a heartbeat, but would look elsewhere for accommodations. Our time at the lodge was pleasant enough, but the funny business with their pricing left a really bad taste in my mouth. At my most charitable- I'd say it's bad bang for your buck. At worst, the pricing is intentionally ambiguous.
