Crowd gathering for David Choi - February 22, 2010
    Ambrose C.

This review is only based on the concerts that I have been to. I have not eaten the food at this venue so I can't really comment on it. I have been here for two concerts. The first one was a double performance, featuring Landon Pigg and Erin McCarley accompanied by a live band. The second performance featured David Choi (www.davidchoimusic.com) solo with only an acoustic guitar. I thought all the performances were really good, and I also got an opportunity to talk and get some pictures with all three performers at the end of each show. This is a somewhat decent venue to watch a live concert. It has a small and intimate atmosphere unlike a large auditorium and it kind of feels like you are really close to the performance no matter how far you are. Seating is very limited. The only seats are located on the walls and the consist of leather sofas/chairs. There is a large open area, you can either stand or sit. For Landon Pigg/Erin McCarley, my friends and I stood, but for David Choi, we sat down and it was really uncomfortable on the legs, since it was so crowded. The sound quality was great, made the live performances enjoyable. This might not be a bad choice to check out some good independent music. You might be seeing a potential recording superstar. I'm giving this place four stars since all the performances I have been to at this place were surprisingly good and hopefully I can find another great concert at this venue.

Great place to see some talented musicians. We went to see Charlie peacock and it was a pleasant experience! The cafe had great coffee and the room was rocking!

The sound techs are Berklee students and they really know what they are doing.

There's never a cover charge, but there is a one drink purchase minimum. Mixed drinks/cocktails can be a bit pricey, but for the entertainment you're getting, I'd say it's pretty worth it. It's also a pretty small (but cozy & intimate) setting, so if you show up later in the evening, there may only be standing room. Most recently, I went on a Thursday night, and turns out every Thursday they have a Latin Jazz band starting at 9:30/10pm! It was SO fun and people were dancing and just having a great time. Highly recommend Wally's!!

As soon as I opened the door, before I had even stepped inside, the bartender shouted "ID!" from across the room while making a hand gesture. I politely said I would have appreciated being asked in a more respectful way, and his response was: "Get out, I don't need the attitude." I have never been asked to leave a venue before, especially for politely expressing that I found the way I was addressed disrespectful. After reading other reviews, I noticed that I'm not the only customer complaining about this bartender's behavior.

We walked into a space where the walls are covered with photos of artists and music memorabilia, while dim lighting, packed tables, and frequent live performances give the restaurant a distinctly neighborhood feel. Whether stopping in for a casual drink or staying for an evening of music, the experience centers around the performances happening just a few feet away. The menu leans heavily into Irish pub comfort food with generous portions and hearty classics. We tried the Guinness Beef Stew and the Shepherd's Pie, both of which delivered rich flavors and exactly what you would expect from a solid Irish restaurant. Other popular items on the menu include curry fries, clam chowder, burgers, and traditional pub fare designed to pair naturally with a pint. The comfort food favorites consistently stand out, while opinions on some other menu items may vary. Service is friendly and welcoming, even on busy nights when the venue fills up for performances. The staff handles both diners and music crowds with ease, helping maintain a relaxed atmosphere despite the constant activity. Live entertainment is clearly a major part of the identity here, with regular performances ranging from Irish sessions and jazz to open mic nights and other local acts. For a neighborhood pub near Berklee that delivers on both hearty Irish food and live music, The Bebop offers a warm, energetic experience built around community and performance.
