But, that means more construction sounds and more intrusive notices for people to enter the apartment. No plans to improve apartment soundproofing or temperature control. All in all, it's nice to be close to work and restaurants but not the best place to live.

First of all, the Yelp ratings for this building have always been terrible and only recently improved when the management incentivized residents with a restaurant gift card to post reviews. So there's that. As others have noted, there are continued issues with the elevators and construction/noise from the Four Seasons across the street. In late 2019, when I was six months pregnant, I had to plead with the management to create a safe environment to walk our dog. At least twice, we were nearly hit by cars peeling around corners because the construction from the Four Seasons eliminated sidewalks and didn't create temporary walkways for pedestrians at that time. Unfortunately, 30 Dalton was unable to rectify this. This past fall, as Covid cases were rising, I had to ask management repeatedly to stop hosting gatherings in unavoidable common spaces. They had happy hours, manicure, and massage events (in the middle of a pandemic!) in the lobby of the building. Finally, they realized how unsafe this was and stopped. But only after multiple requests. The finishes in the apartments are very low quality. If we tried to vacuum while more than two lights were on, or use the Instapot and blender at the same time, we would blow the circuit. Several times we had to complain about trash smells from the garbage room wafting through the vents and into our apartment. Towards the end of our stay, in November 2020, we dealt with loud parties from other units. This never happened pre-pandemic and I can only assume it's because they lowered their standards for new tenants in an effort to lease units. We ended up moving to a new apartment managed by Related and it's night and day. The concierge is extremely professional and prompt in response. Further, we received three months free rent so are now living in an apartment that is 2x the size for approximately the same price we paid at 30 Dalton--and, instead of living across the street from constant construction, we are two blocks from Boston Common. To be clear, there are some very good people working the front desk at 30 Dalton (Zack, Marvin, and Carlos among them), but there are also some real bozos who never look up, ignore you when you walk in, and can't be bothered to push a button that opens the door when your hands are full with groceries you're towing a stroller. It's the little things that really add up to create an experience and, unfortunately, all those little things made ours a less than positive one here.

The building is located right on the city line between Charlestown and Somerville, which means you get easy access to both locations, but it's kind of a weird in-between neighborhood that can't quite figure out what it wants to be. However, more and more businesses opened up over the years, and the orange line T station is directly behind the building, so you have no shortage of things to do. I personally loved the location because it's a bit quieter and you don't have to pick between Somerville/Cambridge and Boston, but if you want a completely walkable neighborhood, I'd look elsewhere. The building itself is nice and well maintained, but because the rent is a bit lower, you're not going to get the luxury gyms, pools, community rooms, etc. you might see at other big Boston buildings. It's modest, but it has everything you need. There's a little playground and dog park directly across from the building. Covered parking is available in the garage for an extra fee (again WAY cheaper than in downtown Boston). I also have to give a shout out to the maintenance team at Mezzo--every issue I ever had was resolved same day. The leasing office team also does a great job planning resident-appreciation events and activities every month. I had a unit overlooking the courtyard (which is lovely in the Spring and Summer) and the massive floor to ceiling windows (every unit has them) were always one of my favorite things. The walls are also so thick, our neighbor was always blasting music and you could only hear it when you were in the hallway, never from inside the apartment itself. The only downsides in my opinion: storage was pretty limited with only one closet in my unit, and as many of the other reviews here mentioned, trash piles up on every floor of the garage each week. Being close to the T also means a decent amount of foot traffic at night and it's a little rough around the edges. I always felt pretty safe and would walk my dog alone at night, but you do hear some stories and it's best to keep your wits about you. Overall, Mezzo is a great place to live, moving out was definitely bittersweet, and I'll miss a lot about this place. Just don't expect top-tier luxury from a building where you aren't paying for it and you won't be disappointed!

After nearly four years at Mezzo Design Lofts, I reflecting how our experience has evolved and…read morehighlight two distressing events that posed a threat to residents' health, safety and security. Once you start comparing similar-priced apartments, you'll see you won't get your money's worth at Mezzo. The building has a garage that doesn't always open on the first few tries driving back and forth to the sensor - even after a new system was installed. Despite the package locker system they advertise, your items can be left in the hall, in the loading dock or outside the building. And you'll walk past overflowing trash bins in the garage and outside the building on a regular basis. Even after meeting with management about these issues in February, they have not been resolved at the time of writing this. It should not be the residents' job to police and report communal problems affecting the building. However, after two first-rate staff members Paul and Rob left their positions here, that has become the norm. (Don't get me wrong, I can live with those minor annoyances. There are much bigger problems in the world. It just seems weird that we're paying for them.) The deal breaker for me was a serious lapse in communication following reports of a resident running down the halls with a potentially dangerous weapon in the middle of the night. Despite repeated requests to Lincoln Property Company's local and regional management for reassurance of our safety, they argued that it was not their responsibility to send out any apartment-wide messages per their privacy policy. They maintained that perspective even after emergency personnel were stationed in the parking lot the following day and police were on the property again the next week. Their response that they followed "normal protocols" felt like they were more interested in protecting the company than protecting us. That same week, Mezzo hired landscapers, unannounced to residents, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. They clustered in front of the building without masks or maintaining distancing guidelines. The governor's order on essential businesses at the time permitted landscaping for "the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences." Tending to the flower beds does not contribute to resident safety and instead increased our risk of exposure. Mezzo chose to prioritize the look of their property over resident safety and city guidelines. When asked to be directed to supervisors regarding this issue, the property manager informed us she would "not be escalating anything because there is no issue." However, after a quick call to 311 about the governor's guidelines, they opened a case and asked me to report any further incidents. Mezzo advertises itself as a "community you can call home," but while you're here, you'll learn it's best to butter up to management and humor their gossiping about residents. Don't bat an eye when they complain about hosting resident events and tell you that tenants should think of better ideas. Get comfortable with a resident manager who will tell you to wait to use the community room you pay for each month so he can finish a personal call. After an exhausting several months keeping track of possible lease violations, threats to resident safety, and management's apathy to getting our money's worth, we decided to save our money and leave. As is their MO based on phone calls and back-and-forths over email, they'll insist that proper steps have been taken to ensure residents' wellbeing. They'll deny claims of unhelpful and unfriendly management. My efforts working with Mezzo to try to improve our experience has been met with false promises, denial and poor leadership, which doesn't instill confidence in me that they'll fix these or future residents' concerns.

In doing my research of apartments in the area, this apartment managed by Bozzuto stood out in terms of the property, the location, and also the quality of the management company. Reviews on Apartments.com and Yelp have been overwhelmingly positive (with only real complaint being rowdy undergraduates who are no longer allowed to lease in these apartments), and I can confirm that my own experience is accurately reflected by these reviews. I've worked with Christian who was friendly yet professional in phone calls and email communications, and he's been very responsive and willing to help. I am disappointed that I will not be able to stay here, but this will be the first place that I will look the next time I need to find an apartment in the Cambridge area.

Not Portside, not that new Clipper Ship development, not the border street project, not anything. The rooftop deck on the 17th floor with stunning views of the Seaport, Downtown, Zakim bridge, airport and Charlestown is something you can't get anywhere else. The 2nd floor pool deck, I literally spend every sunny day up there and it's not crowded Monday through Friday and has amazing views of the harbor and friendly neighbors to chat with. Great indoor amenities too if you want to host a dinner party, they have a gas stove and a pool table with a ginormous TV and sofas. Our Super Bowl party was a blast. There is a puppy washing room too if you are into dogs, and lots of green space outside for walking said dogs. We've met so many dogs since moving here. It's like a dog paradise. We moved here from Charlestown in November 2016 and they offer a 15 month lease which is awesome. Our first floor apartment has it's own door to the outside which would be even more useful if we had a dog. Everyday I can sit on my sofa and watch giant ships cruise by within yards of my window. It's breathtaking. The management and leasing staff are friendly, accommodating and always asking how they can make the Eddy better. They often organize great events for residents and provide free donuts, candy and ice cream throughout the year in the lobby. If something breaks, Jose the maintenance guy is right there to fix it and is friendly! 24/7 concierges are very nice and will notify you when packages arrive and Brandon will always open the door for you if he's not on the phone. We love Brandon. Brandon, please don't ever leave. Update: The restaurant here has improved, plus we moved 15 stories up so we can't hear the restaurant noise anymore. Five stars for the Eddy! They clearly rely on the location alone to justify charging absurd rents, because the actual experience doesn't come close to matching the cost. The so-called concierge is completely useless. They don't help residents, don't solve problems, and mostly just make the lobby smell like weed. If you're expecting any level of professionalism or service, lower your expectations immediately. Resident services is another disaster. Joshua Brandao and Jennifer Rose-Minihan are consistently rude and impolite, and their communication consists almost entirely of condescending, useless emails that solve nothing. Any actual issue you raise is met with bureaucracy, attitude, or silence. Charging $125 per month for a pet is not "pet-friendly" in any universe. It's openly anti-pet and feels like a punishment for owning an animal rather than an accommodation. Inside the units, everything is cheap. Appliances, fixtures, finishes--things break constantly, and management rarely tells you when (or if) they'll be fixed. Maintenance is slow, opaque, and frustrating, especially considering how much you're paying to live here. There's also absolutely no sense of community. This place feels transactional, cold, and indifferent to the people who live here. In short: overpriced, poorly managed, unfriendly, and misleadingly branded. Do not move here
