We were greeted and toured by Sales & Marketing associate, Vanessa. We find to be very professional and eloquent. Although we would've gone with Kensington, the availability and timing did not work well for us. So that's a bummer. I'm any event seems like a good vibe and exceptional place with great service. And tenants as their priority. I may not trust Bozzuto anymore from my prior experience, but in any event, there's something about Kensington that allowed it to earn its high reviews across all the platforms--Yelp, Google, etc. Can be pricey. But, exceptional. And I'm sure that is well worth the location, the nice decor, good vibe, and of course the exceptional service. Side note: There's no pet fees here. Super pet friendly. read more

Not bad. I stayed here for a month via corporate housing, which we selected over locations in Boston primarily due to the EV charging advertised on their website. Turns out that it's inconvenient to own EV and live here unless you've already got a space. The waitlist is over a year long, and they're not willing to entertain even installing low voltage outlets to trickle charge vehicles, or dedicating a single floating space, such as in the visitor parking. If you have an EV and want to live here, you should plan to charge at work or use public DC fast charging for the time being. The garage is a nice amenity otherwise, though the second floor is an indoor dog park, and it definitely has a bit of a smell. I found that frantically waving around the garage tag was needed to open it most of the time, but sometimes it did pop open on the first time when I drove up. I wasn't sure if it wasn't very sensitive or if the EZ-Pass interfered with it, but it always worked after some waving. As far as Compass (via Aboda) goes for corporate housing, the furniture was just fine, but the bed wasn't as comfortable as in a hotel, and I ended up having to buy pillows to get a good night's sleep. It's good enough, but it never really felt like a home. The over-stove vent doesn't vent outside and it's an electric stove, so you can do basic cooking, but don't expect to sear a steak. The space on the 6th floor is nice if you want to get out of your apartment, but not go outside. The coffee machine was a bit gimmicky, but not bad if you like drip coffee. There's a Dunkin less than a block away and a fancy coffee place next door if you don't. The printers worked as advertised, which can be handy for printing out documents. The appliances were acceptable, though it certainly took a while to dry clothes in the ventless dryer, and the dishwasher had a leak that we had to get fixed to keep the unit from smelling like vaguely stale food. The refrigerator probably needed replacing because our food was spoiling faster than we thought it should be, and it was warm to the touch on the highest setting. The views and glass were pretty, but I don't think it really did us any favors as far as air conditioning went. We ended up having to run it most of the time that we were there, and though we weren't on the hook for the utility bills, it felt wasteful. While calling an elevator when nobody is around requires the key fob, it's not needed to go to your specific floor and anybody can hop onto it when the doors are open. That said, there are definitely nice things about living here. If you like hot pot and sushi, it's really convenient to get your fill. It's an easy to drive to I-93, even if the Chinatown traffic getting back to the building is usually heavy. You're right next to the Chinatown Orange line T stop, which is convenient for getting around on foot. Packages from Amazon were magically delivered inside the unit by the concierge, and the concierge was in general responsive and helpful. I'd consider staying here again if I needed corporate housing, though there may be better properties, depending upon your needs. read more

I have attended 2 wonderful parties at The Kensington & I found the space on the 6th floor to be beautiful. There's fun local themed art on the walls, and an outdoor pool. For the Grand Opening party, on the 6th floor, they had a live jazz band inside and trapeze artists performing over the pool! They were both impressive, so I enjoyed sitting at a table outside, close enough to hear the band, but in the site line of the trapeze too. The staff at the front desk are very helpful and directed me to a parking garage in the area with a reasonable evening rate, when my plan to leave the car at the Boston Common Garage and walk over was thwarted by the garage being full. read more

So, just FYI, everyone- the Kensington is charging us full price to live here. And we have no gym, no pool,no grills, no computer area, no coffee, basically nothing to warrant their insane monthly fees. They don't even deliver my packages. The Kensington is an exceptionally great place to live. The building is well maintained and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Their turnaround time for answering any questions or concerns posed is quite quick, and we had Ms. Vanessa help us with each step of the way. They strive to make a conscious effort to welcome you into the community and send notifications well in advance of any possible maintenance being done in or around the building. Moreover, they hold events for their residents that provides an upbeat and a warm welcoming atmosphere. The location also speaks volumes as it is centrally located and the Boston Common is practically in your backyard, as well as the train practically across the street. I moved into the Kensington a few years back and do not regret it. I've made some of my best friends living here and the staff and amenities are amazing. They have a dog grooming room that has all your needs. If there is ever a time that you need something, all you have to do is ask. The team will work hard to make the request happen. I would say The Kensington is a comparable experience, not just because of their impressive décor, cleanliness, and amenities, but also the staff. The Kensington - Apartments Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

My husband, dog, and I lived in the Kensington from June 2014 - June 2015. Moving from St. Louis to Boston, we had trouble finding an apartment in Boston that we liked, so we went with the Kensington. We figured the "full service" in terms of concierge staff, gym, pool, not having to shovel the sidewalks for our first winter in Boston, etc., would be worth the money. We paid $5,000 for a two bedroom, two bath. Yes, there are good things about the Kensington; see the other reviews. Keep in mind that the Kensington incentivizes residents to write good reviews online by giving away gift cards. So, the reviews may (or may not) be truthful. Here are reasons why we did NOT like living in the Kensington: - The Kensington lost two Amazon packages of ours. The packages contained necessary dog supplies (winter supplies for dog paws, and a 40 pound bag of dog food). By losing both of these packages, our dog would not go out in the wintertime and I had to clean up pee and poop every day. I am not exaggerating. In addition, by losing a 40 pound bag of dog food (how do you "lose" this?), I had to have a friend rent a car and drive out of town to buy the difficult to find dog food outside the city. After way too many frustrated emails to the office staff, they reluctantly gave me $150 for each lost package. The first $150 was supposed to appear as a credit on my rent bill. It didn't. Yet more emails to the staff, and it took nearly a month to get it resolved. In general, the office staff was difficult to work with, and lacked any sort of sympathy or consideration for our frustration. - Smoking. There is a small garden/courtyard at the front of the building next to the entrance. People stand around an smoke there. A LOT. We asked the office staff and the front desk staff multiple times to enforce that people not smoke. The Kensington even mentioned in their advertising that it's a non-smoking business and a "healthy" living environment. If you'd like to walk through a cloud of smoke every time you come home, live here. - Recycling. The Kensington building is LEED certified. Kudos. The rest of their building is the complete opposite of being environmentally friendly. When they have events every week, everything goes into the trash - including beer cans, beer bottles, and wine bottles. They don't recycle any of it. In addition, the trash chutes appear to have an outdated system. For recycling, there are three different buttons (newspaper, glass, plastic). I'm sure people are too lazy to sort their recycling, so many likely throw everything into the trash. IF, however, you go to the ground level where the dumpsters are kept, all recycling is co-mingle. Meaning, ALL recyclables can be put in one bag. The Kensington needs to update the trash chute system and/or encourage residents to co-mingle their recycling. - Neighbors. The Kensington advertises that they don't rent to undergrads. That's utterly false. There are tons of young 20 year olds around. Our neighbor constantly played loud music very late and into the early morning. The Kensington also appears to rent out rooms to families, temporary stays, etc. This is not a building of older professionals. It is a building that is far from peaceful and it lacks community. (Note that the noise outside the building is less noticeable during the daytime than at night. We lived on the 16th floor and could still hear honking, sirens, even drunk people yelling loudly from the two strip clubs next door at night.) - Events. The Kensington has events almost every week, often with free food and free alcohol. Perhaps the Kensington is trying to create a community. I (and many others), on the other hand, would take the food and drinks and go back up to our apartments. I'd much rather have cheaper rent than be subsidizing food and booze for other people. Yes, there are many things good about the Kensington (see other reviews). But I do NOT recommend living there if any of the above would bother you. It's definitely not worth the money or the headaches or the second hand smoke. read more

We recently moved to Boston and have spent a great deal of time touring around the various luxury apartment communities in the area. Just to preface this review, we are not residents at The Kensington, we simply looked at it. But here's why we chose not to live there. Based upon its overwhelming rating on Yelp, we were convinced that The Kensington was by far the best place to live in Boston hands down, but after seeing it, I can't help but feel a number of these reviews are a bit over-hyped and glossy, which is why I'm writing one myself. As for the positive, the units themselves are nice and I really liked the details which was a big selling point for us. I'm personally not one to really use the public amenities, but they weren't bad, but the public area kinda felt like something you'd see at any mid-level hotel. The computer center which offers a number of iMacs is really awesome. The gym on the other-hand was very nice, BUT, after looking at all the other luxury complexes around the city, I found the gym to be pretty much average. This doesn't include the classes, etc offered though. With that said, after looking at various other places, The Kensington offers a number of "luxury" amenities well within a decent price-range because Boston is quite expensive. But I can't help but feel that part of this is because of its location which isn't the best. There is in fact a strip-club next door and it's definitely downtown if you know what I mean. But everyone has a different preference for location, but this isn't somewhere I could really see myself enjoying a leisurely stroll with my dog, etc.. However, you are close to Chinatown and the Theater District which is cool too and it's walkable to a lot of areas. But there is security at the front desk and a doorman which is nice. However, I was a bit disappointed with the small size of the pool. It's very small. The pictures are a little skewed thanks to a wide angle lens, and overall this place does kinda a clubby feel to it. And the lobby when we walked in actually reminded me of a hospital lobby with the kind of faux luxury sofas and chairs, etc.. It was also super dusty and just wasn't that well maintained at all, at least when we were there. But this place is worth checking out because it's got an attractive price and the units are nice, but it's not the nicest place EVER in my opinion. You do get some bang for your buck here, but it's definitely not the BEST place we looked at. Unfortunately, I can't say much about the service or maintenance team, but it seems to have a great reputation on Yelp. read more

I lived at The Kensington for a year between 2014 and 2015. The apartments themselves are very nice and comfortable, and all the appliances worked well. The common spaces were also nice--good places to work during the day if you work from home and don't like to stay in the apartment. I didn't personally use the pool, grill, kitchen or pool table much but it seemed like people enjoyed those things as well. It was also fun to see the many dogs in the building. The neighborhood is really interesting and there are tons of great restaurants, bakeries and markets nearby as well as public transportation to take you anywhere you need to go in Boston. The front desk staff (concierges, doormen) and maintenance staff members were really great. Really nice, welcoming, professional and efficient. The management office staff less so. While there weren't bad problems with noise in our apartment, we could hear people in heels walking on floors a lot (don't know if it was above or next door). Weekend nights would always bring shrieking and giggling and running and door slamming in the hallways any time from 11pm to 3am, and I often had to put in earplugs. Again, this was not terrible just part of apartment living, but still annoying. Perhaps on a related note, it seemed like most people living in the building were in their 20s, although there were some families with young kids and a few older people too. Probably the biggest issue I had with the building was that there seemed to be many vacation rental situations (along the lines of Airbnb) which meant that the building felt like a hotel despite efforts on the part of the staff to make it feel like a community, and it seemed that the front desk staff were often busy checking people in and out as if they were the front desk of a hotel. Some people, i.e., me, don't like to live in a building where many residents don't have a stake in its long-term condition. Overall, I was comfortable there for the year but chose not to renew my lease for the reasons above. read more

I just moved to this building one month ago and have been very impressed with the building staff and maintenance crew. Any request for maintenance help gets resolved either the same day or the next day, and the concierge will drop off items in person when they arrive in the mail (if you approve this service). I'm actually really late writing this review given the fact that we lived at The Kensington over a year ago. But, the fact that it's over a year later and I still miss this place says something! We were originally placed at The Kensington as part of a corporate move and the intention was to only stay 3 months while we looked for another apartment. At first, to be honest, the neighborhood scared me a little, we have a child and I was worried about some of the surrounding, *ahem* establishments. But, after living there for three months, we quickly realized that we had lucked out in terms of where we got placed and decided to stay for the entire year we were living in Boston. At the time we were one of the first residents in the building and it was fantastic. The staff truly is the nicest and most helpful staff you will ever encounter in your life. Always there to answer a question, greet you with a smile and help you with absolutely anything you could possibly need help with. The apartment was spacious, the finishes were fantastic, I loved my washer/dryer in the unit and the amenities were outstanding. It's because of The Kensington gym that I am in such great shape! And to have a space my son could play in when the weather was way too cold or too snowy to go outside was awesome (he's a better pool player than me now). And while at first the neighborhood was a concern, the location is phenomenal. You're so close to everything! You've got multiple subway lines within walking distance, you've got Boston Common in your backyard, I'd walk my son to school in Beacon Hill everyday easily. Everything is right there, it's urban living at its best. And I told my son The Glass Slipper was a BBQ joint, so that problem got solved easily. We moved to Boston from NYC, and while there, lived in an apartment complex called Emerald Green by Glenwood Properties (Google them -- they are one of the top luxury rentals in NYC with some of the highest quality of fixtures). I also was born and brought up in Dubai, so my expectations of 'luxury' are very high. We have been living at the Kensington since early 2014 and here is my review broken down into key critical elements: The Apartment The apartment has all the trappings of a 'luxury' building with high ceilings, central air, large 8ft windows and amazing views. The fixtures are absolutely premium with marble countertops and depending on the unit, different finishes for the kitchen. The rooms are spacious, and both our rooms (in a 2-bed corner unit) comfortably fit king size beds with side tables and dressers. The apartment is very roomy with very little wasted space. Overall A+ The Neighbors Most of my neighbors are mid to high level business folks, doctors, lawyers, startup CEOs, venture capitalists and PE folks which make the networking absolutely great. I haven't noticed too many undergraduates which only means the leasing office is doing an amazing job! I actually know a lot of my neighbors thanks to all of the events which are held in the building (ill get to this later in the review). Overall A The Amenities I never thought coming in I would care for or use all the amenities the building has had to offer, but I find myself using them pretty regularly. I have started spending a lot more Fridays working from home because the lounge created downstairs is perfect to put your feet up and work while not actually being at home. The printers and the two conference rooms have also allowed me to have team meetings in the building without a hitch. I have entertained many friends downstairs in the lounge catching up over a game of pool, or in the swimming pool -- overall there is nothing lacking here. The one thing that resonates with me is, when they realized the doggies of the building were having a hard time with the snow, they built an indoor pet-relief room. This is that kind of building. Overall A The Staff The staff at the Kensington make all the difference. I am not exaggerating when I say Darren and Mike brighten up my morning with a super warm welcome and send off! They are the kind of staff that will stop you, straighten your tie before they send you off to the world! I cannot say enough about these folks -- they are truly amazing. In fact, they are so amazing that when once of my favorite concierge folks left, I got him a signed jersey of all the players from his favorite soccer team as a good bye present! He would regularly watch out for my packages and have them at the reception to collect them, watch my dog while I attended to a food delivery -- truly ABOVE AND BEYOND! They continuously listen to feedback and look for ways to improve their overall service and delivery. Overall A++ The Events The building is constantly throwing events! Whether it is a wine down Wednesday, a breakfast, a superbowl or Halloween party there is always something going on. This allows the residents to truly get to know their neighbors and the staff while being introduced to a number of local vendors. Overall A The Value Living at the Kensington is not cheap, but in my mind when you add up all the tangibles and intangibles it makes sense to me. Coming home after work and entering the building really and truly means "coming home". During the snow storm earlier this year, I didn't leave the building for a couple of weeks -- and didn't need to, between the neighbors, the staff and the amenities, I was happy in my own Kensington bubble. If you are a single person, a family, a family with pets or anyone in between who wants to be 10-15 minutes away from anything in Boston, this is the building for you. We have been living in the Kensington for almost 2 years and absolutely love it! The amenities, the atmosphere and the location downtown are great. The best thing about this building is the incredible staff. They are professional, responsive, friendly and also super funny! They really get to know the residents on a personal level and just make you feel so welcomed when you come through the doors each day. This is one of the few buildings in the city that is pet friendly as well and not only that, they keep the building exceptionally clean. We have lived in other apartment buildings in Boston and it was definitely not the same. The events hosted by the Kensington are also top-notch. This is by far the best building I have lived in. It was also named as one of the best buildings in the nation. The amenities are top notch (pool, gym, indoor pet relief). I believe the rent here are reasonable for Boston. Management staff is professional and curteous. They regularly host events i.e. wine down Wednesdays that really allow you to get to know your neighbors. I would recommend living here without a shadow of a doubt. read more

I've lived at the Kensington now for just a few weeks. I am here during the weeks only for work, but my experience has been wonderful so far. The staff are kind and quick to respond to any needs. The apartment is beautiful and the amenities are great. The gym is fantastic, and I am saving money on a gym membership because this gym has all the lifting and cardio equipment that I need. Minor complaints are consturction noise and minor issues with amenities not being set up quite yet, but the building is brand new so I think they are just working out the kinks. read more

I am current resident of The Kensington and absolutely love living here! The location is perfect for work and meeting up with my friends. I can walk to work in the Financial District in less than 10 minutes. The orange line is right across the street and the green line is a block away. I also can walk to Faneuil, Back Bay and the South End in about 15 minutes. The employees that work here are phenomenal, they are so welcoming and are always willing to help with whatever you need. I really enjoy the 6th floor (the amenity level), especially the gym. I don't have a car, but have used the enterprise cars in the parking garage - which is very convenient if I need to go far or the weather is great for walking. I do agree that the cost to live her appears steep at first, but if you begin looking anywhere in this area (back bay, beacon hill, south end, north end) you will realize that this is actually cheaper once you calculate the additional costs for a gym membership, realtor fee, utilities is a less efficient building, and commuting costs. Overall, I am so glad I made the decision to live here - it truly is an outstanding place to live! read more

While a little on the pricey side, I can promise you that EVERY penny is worth is to live in this amazing building. The Kensington is the most amazing place I have ever lived. Moving from out of state, and not being familiar with Boston, I couldn't have made a better choice. the Kensington puts together socials and breakfasts in the mornings. So we all get to know each other, people bring their dogs and we all sit and hang out. They provide you with dog walkers or sitters. They have someone at the desk downstairs all the time to help you if you ever need anything. They have someone to help you hang things on the wall or put things together. The concierges are always free to help you if you need ANYTHING. They listen to the residents and make adjustments based on the needs of people living here. I mean how many places can say there building does that?! For instance, downstairs gets really dirty and someone mentioned that so now they increase the mopping frequency. Just because the residents mentioned it! Super pet friendly. When I moved in they must email pictures of the dogs they ask for at move in to the employees. I got in the elevator and one of the leasing employees looks down and says, "this must be cuddles!" I just love it. Love that they always make an effort to greet your dog and pet them. Aside from all that, its an amazing building. I feel like I am living in a luxury hotel! The appliances and shower are just amazing. Everything down to the small details in the units. Every unit has its own personality and style which I love because you can truly find the one that fits you best. AMAZING fews, gorgeous floor to ceiling windows. Beautiful views. I just am so excited to come home everyday. And it is nice living in a building of people you get to know more and more! Rather than spending maybe a few hundred less and being isolated in a building or outside Boston. Totally worth it. Great location, can't beat it. Northern part of Chinatown.. In our apartment search, one of the major themes we originally noticed in all of the reviews was that they were all overwhelmingly positive! Being the skeptic I am, I was worried when we moved in back in August that this place couldn't possibly live up to the hype. A little over half a year later, I must say...it does! Apart from the fact that the building, the common areas, and the apartments themselves are pristine, there are so many little perks that make this the perfect place to live. You can sign up to have your packages delivered inside of your apartment, which was great for move in. Paying rent is super easy with an online portal as well as selling things inside the apartment building. The gym is huge and well furnished. The staff and maintenace staff are 5+ stars. If I could rate them separately I would, The problem with the building is that there is absolutely no sound proofing (or minimal sound proofing b/w apartments). I have complained about the noise issue and management did promptly attempt to address it. Unfortunately, the residents do not abide by the rules and there is not much management can do. I listen to the thumping sounds of music until 12 or 1 in the morning during the week and it is worse on the weekends. I also get to enjoy the lovely sounds of some one gaming (shooting machine guns, dropping bombs, etc). Not sure what the game is but I can tell you it sounds violent and it is very loud. I should also mention that you can clearly hear the non stop howling dogs from my neighbor and from others on the same floor and from the floors directly above and below me. Like, I said, the staff really tries to make a difference. Unfortunately,the noise level is simply too much; It is now 28 Feb and the issue with the loud dog persists!!! read more

As it is now 2016, and I am still proud to call The Kensington home, I thought I would provide a quick status update. Since my time moving into The Kensington, I have toured 10 different apartment communities in the Boston area, including: 100 Pier 4, 315 on A, AVA Theater District, Avenir, One Greenway, Radian, The Kensington, The Victor, Troy Boston, and Waterside Place. While there are some other very-well managed Bozzuto communities in that list, no property provides the combination of amenities, location, and staff that The Kensington does. This very Saturday there will be a complimentary brunch on the 6th floor in our building - just because! Events like these are a model for other 'luxury' apartment communities in the Boston area and are greatly appreciated by the Kensington residents. read more

I love this place. Everybody (Monica and Mindy) in the leasing office, the guys at the entrance (Charmaine, Lucy and Garrett), the maintenance guys (Paul..)... Everybody is really nice and helpful. The building is brand new and they are still adjusting a couple of things. The pool outside, the gym, the pool table, etc... Everything is great. I'm very happy living here. Apartments are modern. Front load washer and drier. Quiet dishwasher. Water pressure in shower is unbelievably amazing. Downside: I pay for water and electricity and cable. read more

We moved into the Kensington about a month and a half ago and we love the place. You can not find a nicer group of people then the staff here. From the doorman to the general manager, they are willing to bend over backwards for you. They really are pet friendly and have some of the nicest amenities in town. I had to only give it four stars though for the location. The building is very nice and clean but the surrounding one block radius is questionable after dark due to the homeless shelter being right around the corner in addition to the strip clubs. Obviously that is something the Kensington can't change, but I wouldn't be giving my honest opinion if I didn't mention it. read more

Besides how beautiful the apartment complex is; the concierges/front staff team are so friendly and welcoming, they deserve a 5 star review for that alone! From opening the doors for me to big smiles everytime I see them whether it's 7am or midnight, they are so genuine. Jermaine, Kenny, Kaycee, Steve just to name a few of the great people. The Kensington is the best apartment building I have ever lived in. The staff is so amazing and friendly they always know how to go above and beyond for their residents. They host awesome events all the time and always listen to what comments we have. Everything in the building is super nice but is also very dog friendly. It's not just that the concierge staff is genuine, positive, professional and welcoming each and every time you come and go. I've been living in The Kensington since September 2013, when it first opened. The building is gorgeous and I haven't stopped ranting and raving about it, months later. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, and I feel like i'm coming "home" every day. The facilities are beautiful, and you truly feel like a resident, with not a lot of rules regulating your every move. Love this building and would recommend it to everyone! read more

I have lived in the Kensington for almost 7 months now and it has to be the best luxury apartment building I have lived in so far! Beautiful and spacious apartments with world-class facilities (gym, pool deck) and amenities (video conference rooms, business center, billiards table, quiet study rooms, common social area, etc). The community here is very vibrant and seems like everyone is always having a great time. Management is amazing and they will go out of their way to make sure that all your needs are met. In fact, every month I've been here they have regularly updated us on all the feedback they've gotten from residents and what they've done about it. For as long as I live in Boston, I will call Kensington home! :) read more
