A $12 pour of wine that I had to wait 20 minutes for, order a Pinot Grigio and they sent out a red wine (filled with cork!!)The waitress said "I'm not one to argue" with the bartender then took 10 more minutes to bring this out. The other tables got drinks and food before this came out. Weird position to put a customer in to have to send back something that the waitress knew was wrong. The other outdoor waitress was on it, checking in on every table 5+ times, ours was full of excuses. I've been here plenty of times but won't be back after this. I got the fried chicken wrap with a side of fries. The fries were great, but the wrap was not good and I couldn't bring myself to finish it. My friend had gotten a soup and there was a hair in it. We ordered the cookie skillet for dessert and the cookie was a bit over baked and it made it hard to eat. The service was also lacking, we were waiting for some ketchup from the server but they never came back with it so we had to take it off a nearby table. My bestie's beau won a free party at this bar. It was a great local neighborhood bar nestled in Roscoe Village with flat screens everywhere. The atmosphere was chill and friendly. Huge place inside with a really fun game day atmosphere for the Eagles. The pizza is pretty good and a good size, but it did have tomato chunks in the sauce which I wasn't quite a fan of, but it was still very tasty despite that and was kind of a tavern style of pizza. We've been to the Reveler many times because a periodic event we enjoy is hosted there. Service has always been mediocre at best, and their beer menu is problematic (more on that below), but our recent experience was bad enough to justify a review. This would be one star but I reserve that for places that are gross, either in food or cleanliness, and while the Reveler is a disappointment it's always clean and the food has never gotten me sick. The Reveler is a beer bar that doesn't want to sell you beer. They used to do their menu through Untapped and link it on their website, but they've recently switched to a downloadable PDF (awful) that you can only get to from a QR code on the table (worse) and that is ALWAYS out of date (the actual worst). I kid you not when I say that I have never, not once in about a dozen visits at this point, found my first choice on their menu to actually be available. Usually my second choice is also out. This is a very minor management activity, and when they were using Untapped it's actually trivial to do, so it says a lot about how little they care that it's never done. The service at Reveler is mediocre to bad. They can't seem to keep people, and the staff doesn't seem to know the menu very well. Usually it's hard to get a server's attention, but at our most recent visit our server was so distracted she took orders from 2 people at our 4 top and then wandered away. We had to call her back to take the rest of the orders, which she got wrong. The first two orders came and those diners had finished their meals before the second two orders came out, even though this event happens consistently once a month and you'd think the kitchen would be prepped to take orders at dinner time. When those orders came out, one had the cheese on it that had been asked to be left off, but not the ranch dressing that was ordered, and the medium burger was so rare it was bleeding. They also got about a dozen tater tots and fries a piece, which is not the norm. Usually the food at the Reveler is fine. Nothing to write home about, but consistent and decent if uninspiring. Obviously the food at the recent visit was bad enough it has us questioning if it's worth going for the event again. I honestly don't know what's up with this place, but I'd recommend skipping it even if you live in the neighborhood. There's a better place literally across the street, so unless they can get it together you'd be better off going somewhere else. read more

Came in on a random weekday to try something new - but come to find out, this is the sister location of another frequently visited bar we go to: The Butcher's Tap. Overall, not blown away. Don't get me wrong, the food was good, service was good and the beer was cold - nothing was "wow"! Restaurants are just trying to stay afloat, so I definitely get it - the standard median is always something to strive for. I dig consistency, so I'm not sad about it. Came here on a Sunday morning to watch F1. I've walked by here a bunch of times, but it was my first time stopping in. In terms of coming here to watch an event, their sound system wasn't working so they used the TV audio. It was muffled and went in and out...I wish there were subtitles on so I could tell what was going on :( Service wise, I realized at the end there was only 1 SERVER!! For the whole restaurant!!! Drinks were ungodly slow...even beers that were on tap and mimosas were slow :( Honestly the only redeeming thing was the food. It came out hot and fresh, and actually was decent compared to where we used to go to watch F1. The tots were crispy and the chicken tenders had little breading and a lot of chicken (just the way I like them), although they were slightly over cooked. At least they came out hot! Our friend ordered a beer and it took 45 min+ for the waitress to come tell him they were out of what he ordered. No problem, he ordered another beer. That beer took forever to come and after a comical amount of time it finally came and the waitress said she would comp it. They then proceeded to charge him for both on the receipt :((. I guess they thought we wouldn't look? When we asked the waitress about it she just said "yeah" and took it back to adjust it... Overall I'm not sure I'll be back. Came in the other week for dinner. Service was great as they were taking forever to bring out one of the wraps the table ordered. There wasn't really any explanation as to why it took so long - if it got lost or what - but our server came back and proactively said I've talked to the manager and we've comp'd the wrap, whic hwas very much appreciated and great customer service as the other three of us were waiting with our food sitting in front of us. The food itself was good. We started with some cheese curds which were great, randomly shaped and much more natural than the pre-cut frozen stuff. I got a philly cheesesteak which was a bit oddly proportioned as it had a LOT of bread and not as much peppers or cheese. Meh. Is a pretty good way to describe the Reveler. I wish this wasn't the case as we live so close. However, we sat down and our service wasn't exactly the best. I was brought a drink that I had not ordered that the server had "found" assuming that this was a mistake by the bar and I had just been the recipient of some luck of fate I proceeding to drink the drink. The check came and I had been charged for the second drink. We investigated and the it was determined that the server himself had been mistaken and had brought the drink to the wrong table. I will say the found wasn't exactly my favorite either. The meat appeared dry and the avocado toast wasn't phenomenal for the price. It is cute and clean though, the drinks are ultimately good. An Iowa bar located in Roscoe Village, this is one of my favorites to watch Hawkeye games at. They have good game day specials, $5 Surly drafts and $6 stadium cups, but besides that they have a great craft beer list with plenty varieties and breweries to choose from, along with a full food menu. There's plenty of space to watch the game, with lots of tables inside and outside, along with bar seating. They also do a raffle for prizes at halftime that's free to enter. Parking is pretty easy around the place as well. Staff were all nice and friendly and service was fast. I'd gladly come back to watch another game here, or just in general. read more

Service was incredible. Our server was so attentive and informative! Nachos were delicious, only knock would be that the pork was lacking much flavor. I got the wings, they were great and it was a generous serving. My wife got the button burger and she loved it. She got tots and enjoyed them, I got fries and they were just okay. OMG! GO HERE!! We found our way to this place when there was a snafu with our brunch reservation at a place nearby. We didn't find ourselves in a losing situation, though. We were able to walk right in even with restricted capacity due to COVID. The interior was really clean and very cozy looking. Fun vintage artwork and giant TVs showcasing all the sports. (‍) Our server Coleen introduced herself with so much warmth and appreciation; little did she know we were so appreciative to be here. She was fantastic. We were offered a drink right away. $15 bottomless mimosas? Sign me up! We ordered appetizers and lunch meals. All four of us moaned about how great our entrees were. In summation: GREAT atmosphere. My biggest impression of this place is clean. I mean it's squeaky clean. Outside, inside, bathroom, just clean. We went because we heard they have a great Bloody Mary Bar. Yes, they do. Lots of sauces, spices, olives, pickles, peppers, cheese, sausage, pizza (yes, pizza), and my favorite, quesadillas. The mix is ordinary, but you can really make it your own. The place opens at 11, but the Bloody bar wasn't ready until after 12. We also had lunch. I had the Diablo XXX Chicken sandwich with the sauce on the side. Very happy I did that as it was super spicy - habanero mixed with Buffalo sauce. The chicken was just okay, not super tasty, definitely needed salt but there was no salt on the table. Our server was great but she did disappear when it got a little busier. Go for the Bloody bar after noon and maybe skip the food. read more

You guys: we LOVE The Reveler. We've been coming here for years, watching as this place has evolved in décor and menu. We eat here most Tuesdays or Thursdays after baseball. Our kid is obsessed with the beef and button burger. Service is always great. They have fun events. There's a lot I could say about what a great local establishment The Reveler is. But this review isn't about that. This review is about what gave The Reveler a permanent spot in our hearts and made it our always-go-to bar going forward. Tonight, The Reveler hosted us as a group of 14: ten 8 and 9 year olds and 4 adults. We were a LOUD and... energetic bunch. And everything was amazing. It started when I emailed The Reveler to see if they would even accommodate a table of 10 kids on a Saturday night. I emailed back and forth with Steve, who was always so responsive and helpful. When we showed up (a little bit late, I might add), the table was set and ready to go which was great because our kids were hungry. Our server was patient with each kid as they ordered their meal, even when each kid asked the same questions (c'mon, weren't any of you listening?!) or when they were being picky and choosy. The food came out quickly and completely correct. Steve, the server, and other restaurant staff kept coming by to check on us and to make sure we had everything we need. They also let us bring in an outside ice cream cake AND they cut it and plated it for us, which a lot of restaurants won't do. They made our son feel so special because they specifically cut it so that he got the part with his name on it (and his piece was bigger than everyone else's). At a different point in the night, another server (manager?) came over with Halloween candy for the kids. And at different times, when Steve checked on us, he also checked on the kids table and really treated them like the adults they were trying to be. This was big for us - he really made them feel special! Overall, we had such a good night that I had to come right home and right this review. I am a firm believer in the saying "you go for the food, you come back for the service" and while The Reveler was always our favorite spot, tonight just solidified what an amazing establishment they are. Update: my bf and I came back for dinner on a Wednesday night, and it was a much better experience!! We sat at the bar and the bartenders were AWESOME- everyone we interacted with was so friendly. Bf got the cajun chicken pasta- this was my favorite. It was so good and had a bit of a kick to it. I had the chicken fried chicken which was also really good, but I'd say the pasta was better. My only complaint is that they still don't have specials yet (although bartender said they are coming very soon) and they don't have a dessert menu, just milkshakes. Seems like they are headed in a good direction, and it's only a few blocks from my house so I'll definitely be back! read more

I wanted to have pizza from a place close by. Decided to try this one. It came fairly quickly. The driver didn't have it in a insulated pouch he just had a box in is hand then went back for, not two cans of cola but two plastic glasses of it. I opened it and saw what can best be described as reheated frozen pizza with overcooked cheese topping some jardiniera and a couple of pieces of sausage. The tasteless crust was hard as a rock. I really am trying to think of something that was edible on it but I can't. I for the life of me cannot think of why someone would consider selling this for delivery much less buying it to eat. Recently opened new bar where Riverview once was, they really did a great job on the inside! This is gonna be a top ten: 1.) Great bar, many TV's & good spot to watch games! 2.) Theres actually 2 bars and self service taps charged by the oz. 3.) Really nice restaurant area; they even have a hostess stand? 4.) Beautiful bathrooms as well as a fireplace! 5.) Staff is terrible; bartender kept looking at watch. Couldn't wait to roll 6.) Relief bartender never even acknowledged us or said one word? 7.) Menus are HUGE, like Dennys & they hand you 3 upon arrival? 8.) Food needs help, you can't serve marginal grub in a joint like this. 9.) There's a lot of reviews out there where people may have had a bad experience and are upset about their money and time spent on entertainment. You're never going to get 100% positive reviews when you're running a business- so you have to use your own internal BS meter to filter out the ones who are just angry in general and spend most of their time complaining on these websites. The Reveler is relatively new to the Roscoe Village area, been renovated as of last summer. As with any new establishment, there's going to be some points (as in any visit) where things can go wrong. Where I find many people are unwilling to say anything and just leave angry- it doesn't give the opportunity for a new place to understand where they may improve, or where they may be lacking. So have a conversation with your server or bartender. It shouldn't be awkward, you both want what's best for yourself and the business. I got off track. The reason I was so fired up is because I read all of the newest reviews and I don't think it gives a fair assessment of this place. I have spent a good amount of time here drinking, and some of it eating. Sometimes you order something that you aren't familiar with- and you don't like it. That's a part of life. You tried something and it wasn't to your expectations. IF there was an issue with execution- then yes, give your feedback. But if you think the food is not up to what you expected, then give that feedback as well. I have not had any issues with service or food here. I have found that the staff is always friendly. They do have a large area to cover, so sometimes it gets busy. Be patient, or order yourself a larger drink to keep yourself covered. I have had their pizzas, which are very good. Some of their appetizers are unique- some people when they order pimento cheese and it comes with a sleeve of saltines...that's my perfect evening to watch sports and have a few cocktails. Their dips are great! The honey Cheve bites are unreal. You get the sweet from the locally sourced honey and the tang from the goat cheese. Deep fried to perfection for the right texture juxtaposition. They do some private parties and it can get loud. But it's a bar, with lots of televisions, plenty of dart boards, and really clean bathrooms- which is no small feat these days. I suggest if you had a bad experience, send me a personal message. Let's meet up there, I'll order you a drink (or a couple shots) and we'll eat some of some of their snacks and dips, maybe some pizza- and let's talk about what you think? Service was shit! Waited 30min for drinks, Server didn't know what's Remy Martin first, second they didn't had Hennessy , my friend asked what cognac they got? She wasn't sure. In the end they bring her Courvoisier without asking if she would like. People who came after us got served before us. Server told us but they order only beer. Really ?? Where is my beer? That i been waiting for 30min? It's not the waitresses fault it's the managers fault or owners they didn't teach her and gave her the job. We asked for extra pesto because on the sandwich couldn't even taste it there was nothing from pesto. They were very quick to add 50cents for extra pesto??? Visited the Reveler for dinner one week night and it was so much cuter than Riverview was (no offense Riverview...). The space has been totally updated and is much brighter than before. The bathrooms are a particular improvement! It was relatively empty as we were early, but service was great and the spot was so welcoming that we almost didn't notice that we were one of few tables (we also tried to visit during the Roscoe Village Halloween Parade and it was PACKED, so this spot is definitely popular). Food is good - I would say it wasn't phenomenal, but quite good. I think as the restaurant matures, the menu may also. Very child friendly and also good for groups. An improvement to the corner from crowd favorite Riverview - a brighter spot for dinner, brunch, lunch, etc. Worth a vist. read more

Disappointed in our most recent visit. We have been coming to this establishment for years but this may be the last time until they make changes. We ordered food and a couple of drinks which was completely fine. The two disappointments were that when we received our bill, Reveler now adds on a 3.99% service charge. When we asked what that was for they said it covers the credit card charge. Major foul in our opinion if you want to keep customers. The second issue was that we ordered a Don Julio Anejo. When the server brought it to us they said that they were out and indicated they poured a Casamigos. This is the most expensive tequila they probably have on the shelf. Because we feel like they overcharged us we had to reduce the tip, which unfortunately the server did a fine job. Restaurant prices have increased pretty significantly and there has to be a ceiling on what you're going to leave. read more

Wanted to try this spot out again, hoping for a pleasant surprise. The chicken tenders were great. The breading was flavorless, but they were crispy and, in fact, jumbo. The sauces were great, as well. The chicken sandwich I ordered would have been perfect, but they forgot the sauce (the main part of the sandwich). When they put the sauce on it, it was amazing, 10/10, except the chicken was way, WAY overdone. Dry and stringy chicken covered in amazing sauce is still edible to a point. The fries were also good. Other than that the service was slow, albeit attentive, the vibe was "empty sports bar with owners that want to see it succeed, but don't want to try TOO hard." It doesn't have a weird stale parm smell anymore, but I probably won't be back for more dry chicken. If you love televisions, sports, families, and at par bar food, this is the spot. read more

Tried The Reveler with a small group of friends this past Saturday and had a very disappointing first experience. The host didn't ask us if we wanted to sit inside or outside and quickly led us to a back room that was filled with strollers and screaming children. I asked if we could sit outside instead and received an eye roll and sigh and was told to just go find a table outside then. So we brought our menus and waters outside ourselves and found a table. There were many available so I'm not sure why the aversion to offering us outside seating. The waitress came over and our group had to get through about half the beer menu before she said something was in stock. Instead of recommending a beer that was in stock, she just said over and over again "we don't have it." We put in our order of nachos and entrees. The nachos took close to 40 minutes to come out, during which our waitress didn't stop by to ask if we needed anything or address the delay. The nachos and entrees were all pretty average. Everything seemed quickly assembled and didn't have much flavor. Our waitress didn't offer any sort of ketchup, sides, dips, etc either, which is pretty standard for a pub-style place like this. When we wanted another round of drinks she took our orders and brought back 3 out of 4. When we told her one was missing she insisted we didn't order 4 and sighed when we asked for our 4th item. We were big fans of Riverview as a family-friendly place for good beer and sports. We finally got around to checking out the Reveler and were pretty underwhelmed. The space is beautiful for sure and the restrooms have had a needed upgrade. The beer list is respectable but we were surprised there were no specials on drinks. The food was middle of the road bar fare - nothing unique or special about it - but with upscale prices. Overpriced for what it is for sure. Service was good but I think they were understaffed for a weekend afternoon. Our waitress was clearly doing her best but seemed to be serving all of the patio tables along with several inside as well. We felt bad flagging her down for another beer. Do not come here. It is hugely disappointing and not worth the money. What a terribly disappointing time our group had at the Reveler. My bf and I went to Iowa and western Michigan respectively, which matters later in the story and we arrived first. We had a different server come up to us 3 times with conflicting information but finally we got an app and drinks ordered. Our friends arrived to watch the game and one of the asked for ONE of the numerous tvs to be changed to a different college football game and they have some deal with Iowa? So they said no. Lol yeah right. We are ordering drinks and food and having a hard time even getting the server to come back. We are asked to enter the raffle-- all of us were-- including the ones not wearing Iowa gear which was about half the table , and nothing was mentioned as they asked for so much of our personal info that they had "rules" as to who could even win. I got my name drawn and walked up and was immediately- and publicly- dismissed bc of what I was wearing (WMU sweatshirt). So we came here, got our friends to come here, spent hundreds of dollars, and we get treated with unsportsmanlike conduct??? I don't care about the prizes but it was the principle. To wrap up, the food was all bad, the spinach dip was terrible and had no taste. The wrap I got was not good. We waited SO LONG for the other food -meanwhile the bar was half empty.
