Sometimes you can color and draw. It was overall pretty nice

This is not the place you wanna go if you were having those kind of problems you will not be helped. You will come out feeling worse than you did when you went in. My husband was recently there. He has chronic illness and chronic pain from back and neck surgeries. He was having a really tough day with his mental health and he was having really dark thoughts so we took him to the hospital to get help. Unfortunately, he ended up here at Southtown behavioral Hospital. He didn't get any of his clothes for two days so he was cold and walking around in scrubs. His clothes were sent with him clothes that were appropriate for the hospital. My husband has chronic pain. He has a pain doctor. He has a pain prescription. They didn't give him any pain meds for a whole day when he has a prescription to take them every four hours. He said his first day there he just laid in bed all day. There were no group sessions scheduled. So how is that helping someone's mental health when all as they do is laying in bed by themselves all day? Why is this place still open and not shut down. I've heard from people that used to work there that the place is terrible and they would never recommend anyone to go there. If you have a loved one suffering with mental health issues and you have an option to have them go somewhere else take it.

Specifically shouting out a few nurses that really made a difference for me were Jillian, Bre, Lakita, Katie and Caitlyn (if the names were wrong or spelled wrong I'm sorry, I was a little loopy a lot of the time). Honestly my whole care team was amazing. I'm coming back to this labor and delivery for my next baby because I know I'm going to get the best care.

Severe communication breakdown and lack of empathy for a critical care family…read more Our family's experience with Providence St. Peter Hospital has been deeply distressing during an already terrifying time. My 83-year-old grandmother was recently T-boned in a severe car accident, suffering eight broken bones, and was only just moved out of critical care. She managed to call me from her room, but the phone was disconnected. When I immediately called back to reconnect with her, I faced an absolute wall of bureaucratic incompetence and zero empathy. First, the staff claimed they had no idea who I was talking about. Once they finally recognized her name, they flatly refused to transfer me to her room or provide any explanation as to why. To prevent a family member from speaking to an elderly, severely injured patient who just initiated contact is completely unacceptable. The extreme lack of coordination between units and the rigid, unhelpful attitude of the staff turned a medical crisis into an agonizing, aggravating ordeal. St. Peter's leadership seriously needs to address how their staff handles communication with worried families. Frontline staff need training on basic empathy and how to properly locate transferred patients instead of just shutting families out.

This should be a calm, respectful environment. A simple policy requiring headphones or stepping out for calls would fix this. Where did common courtesy die? But IDK what happened: sometime after the pandemic, say 2023, things changed drastically. I started getting shuttled around with different physicians. At one point I ended up with the flu. During my visit for treatment, they took blood and the sample came back contaminated (possible sepsis). I reflected on the procedure and realized the tech didn't sterilize the site before they drew. So I'm sent off to the hospital down the street, and after an overnight I get cleared and released. Visits to other specialists, when you could get them, just didn't feel like before, so you have to think that the medical crisis hit them pretty hard. But still. Overall, disappointing, but I'm with another plan now.
