4:00pm Sunday Wedding in November The staff seemed very helpful and friendly. Rows of chairs were set up for the ceremony. There were also glasses of champagne for guests to enjoy before the ceremony. Afterwards, we we're ushered to cocktail hour on the other side of the curtain. They set up the tables for dinner while cocktail hour was going on. I was impressed with the food overall. Some things were better than others. I especially enjoyed the calamari. There were so many different appetizers that few of us were hungry for dinner. The salad was an arugula salad with generous portions of mozzarella. The cake was moist and flavorful, especially for a red velvet cake which I feel can easily go wrong. As a frosting lover, I was dissapointed with the frosting. The frosting lacked sugar so it tasted like straight butter.

This is a very nice venue. It's great for a wedding and large party events. The bar and the suites for the bridesmaids and groomsman are placed near the entrance. They had two weddings taking place at the same time. The venue is big enough that you don't notice the other party.

Great wedding venue. The food was really good. There wasn't a single thing that I ate that wasn't yummy as heck. The wedding reception was for 300+ people. We had cocktail hour on one side of the partition and then were escorted around to the other side where the 30+ tables awaited us with antipasto dishes. The bartenders were ok, one of my friends asked for a Moscow mule and she got a drink that was a concoction of whiskey and sprite.

On our first visit we ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich and Wild Turkey. The service was so good, all of the guys behind the deli made sure everyone was promptly assisted. When I lifted the bag of our 2 sandwiches, it was as heavy as a brick!! The sandwiches were so big we split one for lunch and one for dinner. The winner was the pulled pork, but we loved the turkey too. We returned a couple of days later for another pulled pork sandwich and I also ordered a giant dill pickle I saw on the counter. This place also has a huge selection of raw meats and prepared foods and a bunch of random local goodies and sauces to try. Again, I wish I took a picture of my sandwich, but I forgot about the existence of my phone while I was enjoying it :)

So the counter person took them back up to the register to check the prices, they were in the $23 & $24 range for 14 ounces. That's double the price I pay for ground venison and ground elk at the Litchfield Locker, the prices there are $11.99/lb (venison) & 10.99/lb (elk) respectively. So, needless to say, I just wasn't interested in being fleeced, no thanks. I won't be returning.

Every item feels thoughtfully made, with a level of quality and taste that's hard to find anywhere else. A true local gem that continues to raise the bar--not just in Simsbury, but across the surrounding towns. When it comes to breakfast and lunch, other restaurants inevitably find themselves being compared to Harvest Cafe.

One slice of house sourdough bread toasted and cut in half. On each half, goes a bit of grilled ham, then a poached egg with hollandaise and asparagus topped with bacon crumbles and scallions. Come by the harvest for breakfast or lunch be a little creative even though the menu is full of things that are just outstanding. Say hello to the super manager, Mr. Scott and his crew of servers who never cease to amaze.

Our server, Chris, produced menus and took drink orders. Although I am a big fan of housemade corned beef hash (and Drago's is exceptional), I was intrigued by one of the numerous specials, "The Pastor" Benny. It consisted of two separate towers of sausage patty on the bottom, then potato pancake, with poached egg and hollandaise sauce on top...and several spices. It was amazing, like a tsunami hitting my taste buds. The potato concoction was perfect, as were the poached eggs. Two of my friends had Granby Oaks, and the 3rd had several ala carte items. All of us were members of the clean plate club. Chris was excellent and efficient, and kept us well-caffeinated. Overall, great food and service, and reasonable prices. One caution...if you come on weekends, probably call in advance to see if they take reservations. They get crowded. 5 pastor benny stars

My wife and I were headed in that general direction on an early Saturday morning and this was the spot I picked. I will say, going in, I knew that breakfast may take some time and that Drago's isn't what I'd call, "diner-quick." That was ok with me because I had time to kill before a loose 9am appointment. It took a bit for us to be acknowledged and seated but I was ok with that. Our waitress was warm and welcoming and though I knew what I was going to order before I even left the house, the specials she rattled off all sounded great. I am obsessed with biscuits and sausage gravy and knew it was on the menu. It's not only on the menu but the staff's shirts all mention the biscuit. DAMN that is a good biscuit. It's a HUGE cheddar and chive biscuit (big enough for a sandwich). Paired with the sausage gravy and my perfect over-medium eggs it was a wonderful meal. My wife had the French Dip benny which she liked but would not order again. She felt the roast beef was a little tough. Hers came with a "loaded potato cake" which was insanely delicious. It's about the size of a crab cake, made with shredded potatoes and was so, so good. Of note-reasonable prices, many vegan, vegetarian and GF options (including vegan meats and cheese). The lunch menu looks really tasty too. I will be back (and I will get both a biscuit and a loaded potato cake to go, in addition to another great meal).

My favorite purchases were the fresh cut egg linguine and the Ritz-based stuffed cod. The fresh linguine cooks in a minute and the texture just hits different in the best possible way. The cod was nice and firm and the Ritz stuffing was crazy delicious. I also liked the Chicken Francaise. You can't really compare it to restaurant quality Francaise because it's specifically made to be re-heated and eaten later. With this in mind, I though that the small chicken pieces and lemon sauce were very solid. My other purchases included clam chowder and Tuna Mac Salad with peas. The Tuna Mac was pretty good. It wouldn't be in regular rotation for me, but I'd get it once in a while. The clam chowder was my least favorite, but I respect that New England Pasta seemed to go for something different. The texture was good and it had plenty of clams and potato. But it tasted like it had a little blue cheese flavor. I can't say for sure that they used blue cheese, but the chowder definitely had something different that gave it this vibe. For me, this flavor was a bit too assertive. I don't live near New England Pasta, but if I did, I would visit once in a while. Four Stars

They also have jams, honey, bread and little snacks. We tried the homemade strawberry jam and it's lovely. On Tuesdays, the soups are two for one (I believe this is every Tuesday, but maybe it was just on the Tuesday I happened to be there), which is a great deal. They had a slew of $5 side dishes like vegetable quinoa, pasta salad, tuna mac, roast carrots, etc. And how can we forget dessert? I saw some cupcakes and macaroons. There were two very pleasant young folks behind the counter who took my order and placed my entrée and a bag of six macaroons ($5) inside a complimentary tote bag. They asked me to check out the freebies on a table on the way out, so I helped myself to a pen, a pad and a book of matches. The Eggplant Lasagna was plenty big for us to split. It had a nice blanket of mozzarella on top with lots of thinly sliced breaded eggplant, creamy ricotta, and sauce. It was very good, but I think it could have used a bit more sauce. And those macaroons? OUTSTANDING!! Very moist, very soft, very coconutty. The Bee's Knees provided us with very good quality food, a generous quantity for $14, and all things considered an excellent value.
