The alfredo was cork screw elbow macaroni. Very little chicken in both. Sauce didn't cover the half-tray each. I had to add sauce. May be good for meals... What an amazing little restaurant! We went for first time food was Awesome! The service and kitchen were very accommodating for I tweaked the Andy's special by asking for gnocchi instead of penne. I'd heard about this place - supposed to have really good pizza. So we decided to take the trek across the river to Simsbury to try it. Solid 4 in my opinion. I thought the pizza was good and worth the trip. My husband thought it was ...ok. Ordered the thin crust pizza with hamburger & olives. Pretty tasty & crispy, just the way I like it. Not a lot of sauce though and I did wish that there was more spice/herbs in the sauce. We also got a house salad to share - definitely a decent portion. The ciabatta bread that came with it was good. I'd heard that the pasta dishes were good. Perhaps if I can convince my husband to venture back, we'd try that. Service was good. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, very casual. I've been here before & it was a pleasant experience, so I brought my mom for lunch. It is cute inside, has a designated take out counter, it's clean & well lit, has bar seating & plenty of wine choices & 8 beers on tap. Our waitress was very pleasant, but a little unattentive, most likely because she was alone & there weren't many customers to keep her attention. The coffee was rich & robust; a cut above your average cup of joe. So much so, that i asked her the brand to which she responded lavaza light roast espresso.. The pizza was decent. The crust was not quite New England style, it was lighter & airier like focaccia. I am a NY style girl, so I wouldn't be able to handle any more than a small, w/ out being breaded out. Both pizzas were tasty & had plenty of toppings, but were a little bland. However, there was cheese, red pepper, s&p available for seasoning to your liking. The beet salad was a little difficult to eat, but It was delicious! The grinder/sub was a 3 out of 5. The roll was excellent, it was toasted perfectly & packed, but not to the point where it decintagrated. The flavor was there, but it was a little mushy. It's hard it get crispy eggplant out, especially in a sandwich. The portions in general were a good size, not too much & not too little. We split the salad & took 1/2 the grinder & the equivalent of 1 small pizza home. (which technically was overkill, but they don't do 1/2 & 1/2 on specialty pizzas & I couldnt decide between the two. (The scampi won by a margin) I would definately feel comfortable coming back here with company. read more

One of faves is the penne bolognese. Talk about pasta cooked just right smothered in bolognese sauce. The meat is flavorful with every bite. Add Parmesan cheese and hot pepper flakes perhaps a nice Cabernet you're good to go!!! It's reasonable, portions are just right and the servers are polite, happy and efficient. What a turnaround!! The last time we went into Andy's Italian Kitchen was at their old location in Farmington. They are now located in Simsbury, having taken over the space previously occupied by Little City Pizza. Andy's new dining room is gorgeous, a big improvement over what Little City used to have, and a definite improvement over what Andy's used to have. It's hard to judge what we were more impressed with tonight, the food and atmosphere at Andy's or the All Star service from our server Olivia. She was smiling, she was attentive, she was helpful, she was delightful, she paid attention to everything. She was a real joy! Dinner included a complimentary bowl of popcorn and a complimentary basket of very fresh Italian bread. We ordered Four Cheese Baked Penne ($14.95 with an included salad) and Linguine and Red Clam Sauce ($17.95 with an included salad). I loved my dinner, delicious comfort food at its best. The portions were very generous and we took home half of each entree. Olivia was super helpful, checked back on the bread and the salads and the entrees, and even asked me if I would like some extra sauce. We took home a chocolate dipped cannoli that was wonderful. We were blown away at how awesome the new Andy's is. They have a kickass Happy Hour with 50% off appetizers at the bar, and we sure intend to take full advantage of that. Go check Andy's out. I have to say I enjoyed Andy's Italian kitchen the dining room area is a great size but still nice and cozy. The staff was Incredibly friendly. We just stopped in for a quick cheese calzone and buffalo wings. The calzone was huge and it was cooked perfectly it had the perfect contrast of cheeses so yummy and the Buffalo wings were cooked wonderfully with the perfect amount of buffalo sauce . It was a quick visit for us but I will definitely be back to try the many Italian options . This is def a reasturant I would recommend!! read more

Excellent! We started with eggplant fries. Breaded and fried perfectly. Gnocchi with pesto sauce was delicious and portions are large. Took some home. The interior is extremely well-decorated and configured in a way that makes one feel comfortable while enjoying their own personal space. The staff are warm and welcoming and no matter how busy it is, they always check on diners to make sure everyone is satisfied. When you're first seated you're served popcorn as an appetizer... don't knock it until you try it! It's a unique way to start your meal. The food is great! I've had several pasta dishes as well as the pizzas... all of which have the freshest ingredients. The pizza crust is quite nice, not the thinnest in the area but light and crispy nonetheless. I step into what are basically Italian American restaurants because there are so many just plain bad ones. Bad is the norm. I am happy to report Andy's doesn't fall into this category. We had a pretty darned good meal. It was just me a and my wife. We had the cheese and meat appetizer. It was mixture of provolone slices ( deli like, ok but nothing special), some really good aged Parmesan ( not sure if it was true parm but is aged , dry and sharp. Excellent), small slices of firm mozzarella with a sauce I couldn't place it but some balsamic, a little sweet but yummy), some dried apricots for the dried fruit but I love dried apricots., figs might have been more appropriate ( neither a miss or hit here), Genoa and hard salami both very good and there was good size portion of prosciutto. End of sentence. The prosciutto was tasty but it was not advertised as Parma and I don't think it was but for the price of this platter (15.99) I thought it was enjoyable and we took half of it home . (Not. A plus in my book . When I am traveling I hate left overs as I have no way to deal with them). Fortunately this is home for me and I see a decent sandwich tomorrow. The include house salads were a decent ,a good size (read small and appropriate) with limited simple crisp greens, cucumbers and tomatoes. Fresh out of the cooler ( not my fav but these were dry and fresh) but good. Entrees. This is what is all about . My wife had the seafood portifino. It was quite good with a number of smaller but properly seared scallops , nicely done shrimp a few small whole little necks in a tasty sauce with nicely cooked pasta. I think dish value was excellent. I had the Carmela's shrimp . Penne pasta with pesto, a good number of nicely done shrimp and some chopped cherry tomatoes . It was well done but nothing I could not have whipped at home out of my pantry (There is shrimp in my freezer , pesto in my fridge and tomato's a penne I'm my pantry). My wife's dish was mor complex so we appreciated or dinner. But once again like many restaurants I had enough food for two on my plate. So half it went home . Like most composed dishes this won't reheat well. Pull out the shrimp tomatoes , heat the pasta add some new pesto, slowly reheat the shrimp and maybe I have a dish as good as what I had in the restaurant . I would have preferred a more reasonable size serving the first place Wine service is a bit odd for this day and age and perhaps it because they don't sell much. Several house wines by the glass and a generous pour for 6.50. Not many other choices by the glass but some ok looking choices by the bottle. Nothing that will enlist a wow but the prices are moderate. As for the house wines, the Cabernet tasted more like a soft merlot. Drinkable by all means but just kind of hanging out there. My wife had the Pinot Grigio which had the same qualities, soft and perhaps a touch sweet for a Pinot Grigio. Our server Emily was pleasant , attentive and efficient . Service was very good which is a big compliment in these days of CoVID . The little ramekin of pesto that came with the meat and cheese platter was awesome . To sum up . A good meal, better than I expected with good highlights and nothing south of good. Very good service . read more

The chicken portion was huge, but the chicken was dry and tasteless. The spicy sauce was tasty. The menu states comes with kettle chips, but I didn't get any. Andy's, you need better receptionist or you will lose customers! I know it may be difficult to find good help, but the woman behind the counter is doing harm to the business. We have frequented your restaurant throughout the pandemic as we believe local places need support. While trying to have lunch at your place, we brought our mother to eat for the first time. She is wheelchair bound and we were going to eat in the car. Your receptionist would not allow us to take the menu to the car to let her see the selection. All of this while there were ZERO customers at the restaurant. After asking multiple times, she plain refused. You have lost our business for good. My husband had chicken Marsala and he said it was great too. The chicken wasn't breaded, but he thought that was better. He had tiramisu for dessert which he also thought was very good. I wanted this place to be so much better but sadly it didn't live up to my hopes. The food was bland and tasteless. My wife didn't love her entree either. I got the chicken parm, which is as simple an Italian dish you could make. The chicken was tough, like it had been frozen a few hours earlier. It needed seasoning, badly. My wife had the Caprese Pollo, she said the same, tough chicken and lacked seasoning. The kids had the meatballs, no complaints there. This place is so good! Great local Italian atmosphere that reminds me of the amazing mom and pop places I went to back in New Jersey. Clean and inviting decor. Small but cool bar area. The food is what it's all about though. Everything we've had has been wonderful. The lasagna is huge and delicious. Chicken Marsala is not overpowered by the sauce. Chicken Parmigiana is not overdone. The sauce has a fresh taste rather than reheated like other places. Bolognese is very tasty and a good blend of meats. The gelato and cannoli for dessert are outstanding and a surprisingly wide selection. Prices are reasonable. Beer selection is strong; with craft and mass produced selections to fit everyone's preferences. We have not tried the pizza as the entrees are some of the best Italian in the area, but will someday soon. I have heard good things though! One day after work (across the street) I had a hankering for the fried mozzarella at wood and tap but I didn't feel like the drive. These mozzarella sticks definitely arent the fried mozzarella at wood and tap but they were good, hot and gooey just how I like them. The person taking my order was nice and there was just a short wait for my order. I definitely wanted to come back to try the pizza and pasta but I ran out of time. So far my family has come here 4 times and every single time has been on point. Chicken marsala is phenomenal. Just the right amount of garlic. Tonight I had the chicken piccata and it was so juicy and tender with a nice little lemon twist.
