Arrived 15 minutes late and the Guide Rita was very accommodating. Therefore, she had her husband meet me and my guest at the 2nd venue (The BrickYard) with the tasting from the 1st venue (The Silo). We tasted the Haystack from The Silo- soft hoagie bun with chopped beef, nicely complimented by cheese and seasonings topped with crispy potatoes. The Brickyard was a nice ambiance very pub-like with a nice outdoor patio area. We tasted the Caprese salad, Hard Apple Cider, sweet potato fries and dry rubbed chicken wing. Everything was delicious. The fresh mozzarella in the salad was soft and tasty. I'd never had a hard cider before but it was very good as well and likened to a sparkling rose type wine. My guest had the chicken and fries but said both were very tasty. 3rd stop was DiCamillo Bakery where we had a surprisingly appealing biscotti. I say surprisingly because any time I'd ever had a biscotti in the past it was flavorless and dry. This was the same texture as far as it being crunchy, but it was a game changer. I actually ended up buying a box and looking forward to getting into it with a cup of coffee. Next up-The Orange Cat Coffee Company. You were hit smack dab in the face with the aroma of various coffees and flavors. I tried the iced caramel coffee. It was refreshing on a hot afternoon. Had good flavor. My guest tried the hot version with the biscotti from DiCamillo's and REALLY enjoyed it. Gallo Coal Fire Kitchen was probably one of the most unique visits. They have an actual COAL FIRE PIZZA OVEN. So cool to witness! The pizza was VERY good and the head chef was very personable and engaged. We tasted the Margarita pizza. Sooo good! Lastly, we tasted the mini apple pie thingy at The Village Bake Shoppe. It was delicious! Loaded with fresh apples. Not too sweet. My favorite part was the actual rich history of Lewiston that Rita shared. I was greatly encouraged by the abolitionist movement and the underground railroad endeavors. There is an intentional effort to preserve, retain, and promote the true history here. I learned so much and will definitely be back for all the festivals Rita mentioned, namely the Jazz Festival scheduled for next week where thousands decend to experience. They have 2 other tours that I look forward to checking out too. 100% recommend. read more

Took two of the three tours that roaming Table offers.First up was the Williamsville food Tour with guide Dean who was very sociable and knowledgeable of the Williamsville area.You go to six restaurants and at three of them you get adult beverages to try with the food tastings.This Tour was great, fun and the food was either waiting for us as we arrived or just coming out so we didn't have to wait, everything was well organized.Restaurants were delicious and everything was well paced.The second Tour I booked was the Lewiston Prohibition Tour led by the friendly and knowledgeable Giovanna.This Tour takes you to four restaurants including adult beverages at each.You get a history of Lewiston through the war of 1812, the underground railroad and of course Prohibition. The restaurants here were not as organized, they were not set up for our arrival, seemed like they didn't know we were coming.One restaurant dropped someone's burger and it seemed like forever to get it replaced. Another restaurant had the food waiting but no utensils and it took ten minutes to get so by then the food was cold.First Tour was great , the second I was a little disappointed with the restaurants. read more

Took two very interesting and delicious tours with roaming table and they offer three.I started out with the Williamsville food tour with super nice tour guide Dean.You get six restaurant food Tastings accompanied by three cocktails .The food was accommodating for me as I'm a vegetarian, with great substitutions at the local restaurants. It was a great walking tour with yummy food and interesting history.The second tour was the Lewiston Prohibition Tour led by amiable tour guide Giovanna taking us through the war of 1812, the underground railroad and the Prohibition Era in Lewiston. This tour takes you to four restaurants with accompanying cocktails.The first restaurant offered a hot tempted elvis burger .I made arrangements for vegetarian options prior to the tour .Was hoping to have tried the elvis option as a veggie burger as it's on their menu, but instead only got a veggies skewer and they didn't even offer the stuffed pepper dip that other received. Another restaurant the food sat cold waiting for us to get forks .Although the history was interesting the food options were disappointing. read more

We were fortunate enough to be on the very first prohibition tour. What a wonderful evening! Our tour guides made us feel like old friends meeting for a fun night out. You think being an inaugural event they would have some kinks to work out but I for one couldn't find a single fault, either with the historical presentation or the food and beverage choices! Speaking of the food.. we started at Cask and Cow where the tasting included a phenomenal angry Elvis burger ( a burger with peanut butter, fried bananas, and jalapeno) house made potato chips and Mac and cheese. The whiskey sour served with it complemented the burger perfectly. There were three more restaurants, Gallo coal fired pizza (delicious pizza!) The Griffon house ( great food and atmosphere) last but not least, the Brickyard brewing company ( fantastic craft beers!) I would highly recommend this tour to anyone that would like to learn some history of Lewiston or try some of the wonderful restaurants the area has to offer read more

This is the most fun I've ever had on city tour! I've only ever done historical tours in other cities before and have to say adding food makes it so much more enjoyable. Lewiston is a quaint and picturesque village brimming with history. Located on the niagara river it was a major ending stop along the underground railroad and the town and the tour celebrates this. The quality of the food was exceptional; the serving sizes filled me up but didn't make me overly full. Perhaps the best part of the tour was the young couple leading it. Alicia and Chris were sweet, accommodating, insightful, and just adorable. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to have a fun day that fills the belly and mind. read more

I have visited Lewiston but now realize I hadn't experienced it yet. Our party of four had the great fortune to have the owners as our tour guides on a Sunday afternoon. Let me start at the beginning - booking the tour was easy on the Roaming Table website https://www.lewistonfoodtours.com/ then I received reminders and information via email and text which was appreciated. Parking was plentiful and easy to find nearby the meeting location. Tour guides found us and provided a food tasting handout which described the locations we would be visiting, additional restaurant guide suggestions, coupons, a place for note-taking, and a map of the are we would be walking. Because we selected the food tasting and historical tour we made stops at the Freedom Crossing Monument, Frontier House, museum, cemetery and learned so much about Lewiston's role in the Underground Railroad. We received generous tastings at several local restaurants including The Silo Restaurant where we tried the Haystack. The star of the show for the four of us was Waterstreet Landing where we tried their Bavarian Burger and Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese. Waterstreet Landing offers amazing views and beautiful woodwork. We also enjoyed tastings at the Brickyard Pub and BBQ, DiCamillo Bakery, Orange Cat Coffee Company, and the Village Bake Shop. The tour was a little over three hours and provided plenty of food for a meal and dessert. Di Camillo Bakery had us reminiscing about childhood; their pizza and Italian bread reminded us of my great-gram's. The bakery was bright and clean and the shelves were laid out so perfectly. They sell pizzelles, biscotti, cucidati. The excitement was palpable. We look forward to doing the new Prohibition Tour offered by The Roaming Table. My husband and I took this tour 2 years ago and enjoyed it so much that we wanted to share it with my siblings and their spouses. Even though it took a while to get everyone together it was worth the wait. Our tour guide, Rita, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. She made everyone feel welcome made a point to chat with everyone throughout the tour. (There were 12 people on the tour and she remembered everyone's name!) Lewiston has an amazing history as the last stop on the Underground Railroad before slaves could cross the Niagara River to freedom. It is a cute town with adorable shops and delicious eateries. Throughout the tour we sampled food as varied as watermelon salad, mile high apple pie, flavored coffee, local brews, chicken wings, biscotti and more. Be sure to allow time to revisit the restaurants and stores so you can take a Taste of Lewiston home with you. I will be suggesting this memorable tour to more family and friends. read more

This is such a fun thing to do in Lewiston. Just a short drive from Buffalo, I didn't know how much Lewiston had to offer. What a perfectly lovely way to spend an afternoon. I have lived 20 miles away from this quaint town nestled along the mighty Niagara River and have been here many times, but have never experienced the true flavor and history of Lewiston until I took advantage of this tour. Alicia, our tour guide and co-owner of The Roaming Table, had definitely done her research of the area, and from her I learned a great deal of the place Lewiston holds in the history of the area. The culinary stops were perfectly placed along the way and the tastings were all delicious. In making your reservation you can let them know of any fool allergies you may have and an appropriate substitution will be awaiting you. The route is an easy one that just about anyone can manage. If you have a chance, I would recommend The Roaming Table. We dined our way through Lewiston while enjoying the sights and history. Our guides Chris and Alicia have put together a walking tour exploring the architecture and history of Lewiston with stops at some great restaurants to sample some of the best food and wine pairings to be found. Chris and Alicia met us at The Silo. The first course was a sampling of The Silo's legendary Haystack Sandwich featured on the Travel Channel's "Man V. Food". I can definitely understand why it's called "Beef on Wonderland" ... Rib eye steak, mozzarella cheese topped with crispy fried potato sticks. On the way to the next course at the Brickyard Pub & BBQ we learned about the role Lewiston played in the War of 1812 and The Underground Railway. Our next course was at the Brickyard Pub & BBQ where we were treated to their smoked chicken wings which were flash fried and the coated with a dry rub. It was paired with a great local brew and sweet potato fries. The next course was at the Town Hall Bistro where the owner & chef prepared us a fabulous jambalaya pasta paired with an excellently crisp and refreshing Reisling. The pasta was beautifully seasoned and loaded with free-range chicken. Will definitely go back. The next stop was the Orange Cat Cafe for a cup of free-trade iced coffee. We especially enjoyed Carmelo's where we Carmelo greeted us with a tasting of his watermelon tomato gazpacho paired with a wonderfully crisp white wine. I know ... it's not something I would have normally ordered, but was pleasantly surprised at how light and refreshing it was. Multifaceted and complex layering of flavours topped with edible marigolds. Another restaurant we will need to come back to. The finale was dessert at The Village Bake Shoppe and their specialty mini apple pie. What a perfect blend of food and history. Each August, a group of women take a day trip from Rochester, New York to experience something new, fun, and entertaining while spending a special day away from work, commitments, computers, cell phones, and plain old daily life. This year we traveled to Lewiston, a quaint setting along the Niagara River for our special day. We arrived around 1030 am, looked through some of the specialty shops, and then met our tour guides, Chris and Alicia, from The Roaming Table. For the next three house, we experienced a walking tour through the charming streets of Lewiston, learned about much of its history including the War of 1812, their role in the Underground Railroad, etc. While strolling, learning, and listening, we stopped along the way to enjoy 6 wonderful establishments in Lewiston. At each business, we experienced a special sampling of food and drink that knocked our socks off. The portions were perfect, more than generous tasting sizes, and you certainly didn't leave this tour hungry or disappointed. The owners of the businesses were welcoming, and Alicia and Chris were a delight. I can think of so many friends of mine who would love this tour.
