Very intense boat ride. If you ride in the uncovered boat and sit in the front, you will be soaking wet. The water pounded us intensely and came up to our waste. A bit cold. Don't leave your hat or glasses on, you wooo lose them for sure. Great experience but once was enough for me. lol... I would recommend to leave your phone behind or to buy the waterproof case and leave it around your neck. The staff were all amazing and very kind. You could tell the operators were extremely experienced. The jet boat ride was not for me, however if your looking for a wild adrenaline adventure and your someone looking for a ride that will challenge you, this is it. We absolutely loved this tour! Our tour guide went through all the needed safety info and we got going right on time. As we went along she told us about the area and we got a cool view of the two power stations along the river. Then the fun began! We got to the rapids and they were not kidding when they said no one would be dry! We got soaked and it was so much fun. After each run on the rapids they stopped and checked in with us to make sure people were ok and having a good time still. Just imagine 93° with high humidity and you and your family are sweating like crazy... well, get on this wet jet boat and trust me when I say you'll cool off almost immediately! My boat operator, Adam, made sure we all had a great ride. I've gotta say, he loves his job! Our "tour guide" was Alexa and she was great, made us all laugh as we got drenched ! Kudos to her . First day of summer and out of town family in, called for a whirlpool jet boat day. Tons of fun. Reasonable priced for 45 mins of excitement. You have the option to get wet or not, of course we went for the wet tour. They provide a lot of history information during the ride. The staff is super nice and friendly. Easy check-in process. The boat house female locker room is gross, and the lockers were not user-friendly. Be careful when using the locker when entering in a pin code as the pad is super sensitive, and your code will end up not being what you wanted, and you will lock yourself out. But there was a buzzered there, and the staff responded quickly and resolved the issue. This seems to be an issue they're very aware of. They do record and take a lot of pictures during the ride that you have an option to purchase. I felt the prices were good. Paid 50 bucks for digital package, which gave me all the pictures and a 4 minute video, which I would have paid 50 bucks just the video. It was hilarious. This was such a fun thing to do! I went with my son on the Whirlpool Jet Boat this past weekend. We wanted to do this ever since we saw the boats while we were on the Whirlpool cable car at the Niagara Falls Canadian side. It was a bit cold but we got a poncho to wear underneath the life jacket, so it was not to bad. Expect lots of water! Wear something that is light and dries easy, water shoes are better than sneakers. Or bring a set of change of clothes and shoes. We were all wet. Some of the times when the waves hit, I felt like I was underwater in an ocean! We booked online. The 1 pm and 3 pm boats were all full, we got the 2 pm. We saw the 1 pm and 3 pm boats, they were full! The 2 pm still had a lot of room left. They expect you to check in early and show up 15 minutes before the time for safety briefing. The parking lot is across the building, sometimes it is hard to find a spot. We lucked out and got a spot. If not, I assume you can park along side of the roads. read more

Everything was awesome. I had done a lot of research on whether I should go on the boat. I had almost decided NOT to go after reading negative reviews. I'm 67 years old with osteoporosis, fear of roller coasters, heart palpitations and not looking forward to the speed of the boat but my friends convinced me to go! Now, I would go again if I had time. Chris was a great team leader and Jason excellent captain. Chris recommended I sit towards the back and helped me in and out of the boat. They always let you know when you would get "dunked" with a wall of water but I loved it. Definitely don't wear any shoes you don't want wet... they WILL get wet. Bring that towel and change of clothes like they recommend and buy the video! I just wish it had been longer. My girlfriend and I were visiting Niagara and booked one of the whirlpool jet tours for July 4th. It was an absolute blast! We sat in the front row and got absolutely soaked, so be prepared! Captain Mike and Amanda were awesome throughout the trip. I highly recommend going on a hot day to cool off. It is a bit on the pricier side though, we paid $126 for two people. Only one complaint: I bought the $50 package to get the video clips and photos from the ride, and out of the 37 pics included and 4 videos, there was only 1 video clip of the front few rows and no photos. Everything was from the back of the boat or the last few rows. I sent an email to see if there was any more footage that I could get from them or even get a refund but haven't heard back yet. Definitely disappointed to have paid $50 to not get any fun videos from the trip. Update: Staff is awesome and updating to 5 stars! They responded to my email and apologized for the mix up. I received a bunch more photos (attaching a few here so you can see how much fun this was!) and will be receiving videos shortly. Great customer service :D read more

What a fun adventure and view of the rapids you couldn't get any other way. Our tour guide Nicole was very informative and energetic- I learned lots of history and cool facts about the gorge. If you choose the open air / wet tour boat, you will get absolutely drenched- so dress appropriately. I picked a warm day, and the water felt great. (There is a enclosed boat option for those not looking to get wet) I recommend getting there a minimum of 30-45 mins early to check in, get your spare clothes and valuables in one of the free lockers, and listen to the safety briefing. read more

When I asked for a different life vest because the one I was handed was covered in mildew, the worker named Sam, was very rude and said "Wear the one I gave you, or don't ride. It's up to you." Then when they asked us to pose for a picture, and we said "no thank you", they replied with. "You have to take the picture or you can't ride." Seriously?! What's up with all the hostility? What a great time! We picked the power seats which were two front rows not covered on the dry boat tour. Getting soaked was an understatement! We went up river towards where Niagara Falls were. You don't get to see the actual falls because the boat is not allowed to navigate past a class six rapid. What you do get to see is 3 different state parks, some beautiful waterway marked by shear rock-walled faces, plenty of birds, hydroelectric dams, whirlpools, and different classes of rapids. Beautiful danger in other words. However our guide Izzy and boat Captain Adam kept us safe and informed. They were great! They took us thru class 5 rapids and we played around in the area by doing 180's, 360's, and sliding into the wave faces. All of which was a blast! I looked at all of us in the power seats at one point and every one of us had a grin going from ear to ear! Well worth it, I'm so glad we chose Whirlpools' Wet Jet Boat tour. We would do it again without hesitation! Follow the directions and suggestions on the website, and your experience will go off without a hitch! The boat ride was awesome. I expected it to be a lot more jerky...but it was not. The staff were all nice. We sat in the center back row and there was plenty of splash. Unfortunately we heard none of what the guide said at any point in the trip. Be careful....when they tell people to get a life jacket its a stampede. My husband is blind and has a cane and they shoved and pushed him several times. There are big boulders where you line up...he was pushed into one and got all skinned up. People need manners or the company needs to seat the handicapped, older folks and children first. read more

On this Canada Day -- July 1st -- I sat in the fourth row and it was like being baptized in a kitchen blender. I guess, for most folks, that's a good reason to avoid an open-air jet boat on the rapids of the Niagara River. For me, almost being washed away by huge waves was thrilling. Fortunately, I held my breath at the correct times so, unlike some others on board, my nasal passages were not assaulted. I cannot say the same for my iPhone. Despite being in a waterproof container that enables taking underwater photos, after some success trying to film my experience, the container was no match for the waves of the mighty Niagara and my phone limped along until I replaced it a week later. We booked a wet jet boat tour on a warm August day. The website says you have to get there 45 minutes before. Though it is flexible ( 10-15 minutes) use caution on busy days . The boat is at half capacity, and the helmet provides a face shield to protect as a mask (and from water as well!) I got front row and was pleasantly pelted with water , it was awesome. Our guide was very fun and informative. I loved all the interesting historical facts. You will get absolutely soaked! I brought a change of clothes and there are free changing rooms and lockers provided. Gorgeous views ! Work up a sweat before hiking devils hole ! Grab a bite to eat in downtown Lewiston after. Although they travelled much of the sale area, they were VERY different experiences. We loved both, but if we could have only done 1, I would have picked this one. We got SOAKED, even with rain jackets on. The 5 of us (2 adults & 3 kids ages 11, 13, & 19) sat in the 2nd row & it was a blast. Great views & great rapids. I wish the mic was working properly & didn't crackle so we could hear what the guide was saying (I love hearing little informational tidbits), but it was shot. LOVED it then and thought that my grand-kids should have the experience. Looks like Brazil is not going to happen anytime soon. The kids loved it! They loved Nicole! She was the tour leader for this particular ride. What can I say other than this is worth the ride and the cost. It's FUN, in a society where fun has ceased to exist. The kids got soaked, met Captain Mike and were photographed in his "Captain's" seat. I would not hesitate to replicate today's adventure. I took my parents as a gift for my Dad's birthday. The whole experience was great. From buying tickets online (Erie and Niagara County residents get a local rate which was a pretty decent discount), the check in process, the safety briefing and of course the ride itself. The trip is about 45 minutes, up 3 miles and back. As you ride out you get a little history of the area. We took the "wet boat" and you will get soaked especially in the front few rows. We sat 2nd row and it was hilarious! The waves that come over the boat when riding the rapids are intense. Hold on tight and enjoy! Our guide and captain were great. I had an absolute blast on this boat ride. I had seen these boats launching in Lewiston for years, but I never rode one myself because I felt it was expensive for a jet boat ride with a bunch of other people. One day I was out trying to ride the Maid of the Mist with my little boy one hot summer day. The wait for MOTM was not going to be worth it with a 5 year old child (and there was nowhere to park). On a whim I decided to take him on the Whirlpool Jet. They sat us in the back because of my son's size. To my pleasant surprise, the scenery on the ride was absolutely amazing. It was also really fun! My son loved getting wet, but he did have trouble when we (purposely) rode into a rapid and water got up his nose. The only thing that made me uncomfortable is the staff forces you to wear their wet shoes. Sure, they sanitize them. I was grossed out wearing shoes against my bare feet that other people have been wearing all day long. I wish I knew enough to bring my own wet shoes, or I would have gladly paid an extra $8 with my ticket for my own souvenir pair (so that I knew I was the only one wearing them). You will get very wet! Bring extra clothes. read more
