Had a blast at The Roller Cave with my mini for her school fundraiser. Took me back to my childhood! I have my own skates, so I didn't rent, but they have plenty of skates available for rental. They also have skate-walkers (not sure what they're called) that can be helpful for kiddos learning to keep their balance. While we were there, a lot of the arcade games were broken/out of order, but we still found some to play like skeeball. Sometimes kids were stopping on the floor when they shouldn't have been or started going backwards. I wish staff would've spoken up more about that because it was an accident waiting to happen! But maybe they're more enforcing of the rules during open skating a than private fundraising events. In other terms of safety, there was a police officer on site for security. The music was a mix of things but a lot of pop songs the kids were singing along to. The staff hosted some games that the kids enjoyed along with the open skate time. We enjoy trying new rinks. We came and skated on a weekend evening. Pizza and drinks were included with the price of admission. The place was clean and well staffed. We are all proficient skaters. If I were a beginner, I would skip this rink. There were numerous rowdy out of control teenagers zipping bank and forth across the rink, pushing one another, cutting in front of other skaters with zero regard for whether they caused accidents. We had to skate very defensively to keep from being injured. My son, who is an excellent skater, was called down by the floor guard for going to fast (though he was skating in the correct direction and with the floor of skating traffic, putting no one at risk. Meanwhile, this rowdy bunch of teens continued their antics, endangering everyone, the entire 2 hours were there. We attended a "family R&B" night. We will probably go back and try a regular "family skate" in the afternoon to see if it's a better, more considerate, less dangerous crowd. Putting others in danger should never be allowed. I'm older, so if an inconsiderate hoodlam like that caused me to fall, I could get seriously injured. read more

Took our little one here with her bestie for Saturday night Family Skate. Overall, it was a good time! Skating rink is a nice size and there is a nice sized arcade area. I really liked that drop offs aren't allowed and parents must stay with their children. All the staff we interacted with were nice and pleasant. You can tell this is a family owned establishment. The only thing I think could be improved would be seating. It's hard to find seating as certain areas are roped off and the seating that is available is either already taken or has trash on it. I think ensuring one of the staff is cleaning tables once people leave or opening one of the roped off areas when parties aren't going on could help with this. Hidden Gem ! This is a great place to bring your kids to have fun. We went on a Sunday around 2pm. Admission is $8-10 for for everyone 2 and over. You get 2 free slices of pizza with admission. Skate rental is $4 dollars. They even have a small arcade area. Now the prizes are a little ridiculous but it was still fun. It's cheaper to just play games that you can win a game. Very clean and everyone one was help and pleasant. This would be a great place for a kids birthday. Can't wait to go back. read more

Batcave - Updated their hitting tunnels and destroyed their pitching tunnels. Don't go there unless you ONLY want to hit. Can't pitch or use the tunnels for fielding, but hey - they have added a manual pitching machines! Great, like the 7 other tunnels weren't enough. Oh yeah, their membership skyrocketed to pay for new pitching machines! 2.5x the previous cost. Head north if you want good equipment and pitching tunnels. Not worth heading here anymore. read more

Updated review 3.28.21 ****Updating my review as there was a large improvement in my now 4th time visiting the Roller Cave**** Although some of the previous issues still remain (kids going in wrong direction, kids throwing their skate mates across the floor, the occasional common foot ware in the rink...I feel there were more employees putting in an effort to keep this under control. Parents were also doing a better job at making their kids focus on going the right direction and if they fall to get out of the way. I know some of these issues are hard to keep under control always so...it is what it is. The food was still good (pizza) Didn't play any games this time (we just focused on skating) One of the roped areas was removed which was nice to have extra skating space. Facility was clean as always. Lockers worked just fine Skate floor was clean Staff was nice and professional The Roller Cave definitely has a friendly family owned feel We were helped with one of our skates(we brought our own) The Skate kept turning turning inward regardless of our efforts. The staff member (possibly an owner) assisted us and adjusted the skate and it helped a lot... though the issue didn't go away it got much better and we were provided with information on how to loosen up the skates and break them in a bit more which could be part of the issue. We will be back as we live very close maybe minutes. Convenient for us and we like the Roller Cave. Old review below ------------------- Leaving a 3 star review. This place is a hidden gem! I haven't been skating since I was probably 14 and I was never really good at it, but my son wanted to go and they had a Groupon so I said why not!! We bought the Groupon for 4 people. It included access to the bounce house, skate rental, a slice of pizza, and a drink for $25. We arrived as soon as they opened, just in case I fell no one would see me. Showed them our Groupon, got our skates, and it was go time. My son (6) and niece (3) caught on very quickly. I did buy the "walkers" for $5 a piece because I wasn't sure if they would need them or not. They used them for about 30 mins and then I had to "watch them" (bc I didn't really want to skate, ha). One of the employees came out and all of the kids did the limbo, whoever won got a prize from the prize counter. They also played another game where they had to "hit the floor". It was a lot of fun and the kids and myself really enjoyed it. I loved that they let the parents who didn't want to skate be out on the floor with their shoes on. I didn't know this until after I had my skates on. The bathrooms were super clean and the staff was friendly. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and will be back in the near future. Really enjoyed coming out to the Roller Cave. Was looking for something to do with the family that involved an activity that didn't cost too, too much money and this was a perfect find. It's owned by a nice Christian family-owned establishment. It's a little smaller than the other skating rinks here that we've been to, but it was nice. We found a Groupon, (mentioned in one of the other reviews). It's a really good deal. We paid $20 (normally $25; we got an addt'l discount on groupon) but it admitted 4 people with skate rental, pizza slice and a drink. You canNOT beat that. We had a to pay for one extra person and for admission and skate rental it was $11 alone, so the Groupon was a steal. Very clean establishment; which I appreciate because a lot of skating usually smell like sweaty feet, but nope-not here. Thank you Roller Cave. When you get your skate rental, you give them your shoes. I like this for two reasons. As a mom, I don't always skate which means I'm on shoe duty so this helps me out. You don't have to worry about your does walking off. Unfortunately, it happens sometimes and trading your shoes in, alleviates that problem. Aaannnd I don't have to spend money on lockers-2. So there you go. They have a free bouncy house for the little kiddos. You have to be 60" or shorter to go in. So that's a nice addition. Give the kiddies and break from skating if they've suffered too many falls. Standard arcade...prize redemption area. It's nice. We really enjoyed our time. To come back I'll probably do the Groupon again; paying $55 for a family of 5 just to get in is a bit pricey. read more

The floors have been refinished! The middle section is removed. Lots of staff present to help with safety. Such a great place to come for family friendly fun. The music on Saturday evenings when my family attends is hip hop but there is never any inappropriate language. They also have a few songs each session just for jam skaters (usually older and more experienced skaters that like to roll out) lots of fun! Games interspersed throughout like limbo and splits. She jumps up off the bolder in front of the skating rink and proceeds to say we can't get in. I tell her I am their mother why can't they get in she goes in skating rink and tell the ppl working the desk not to let us in. WHY because I look young or because my two 13/14yr old BLACK BOYS look big with black hoodies on. I've never experienced such RACISM especially at a place we frequent during school sessions. I used to go to Skateway in Oaklandon/Lawrence area when Mr. B had it years ago and it was family ran then. He has continued on with the same wonderful family values he had back in the early 1970's. Today we had our first visit to The Roller Cave, and it was very clean and well kept. There were a TON of staff there including an attendant who stood on the floor I'm assuming for safety reasons, though I never saw him actually do anything or intervene to enforce the rules. We paid $14 for two skaters for admission only, as we brought our own skates. The session I think was 3-7 pm on a Saturday, and there was an evening session after. The air conditioning was some of the best we've experienced in local roller rinks. We were told the floor was "new" as I guess there used to be a dance floor in the middle that had been removed. The floor was concrete with some sort of an epoxy on it, which is different from any other rink I have visited. There were some rough spots and some uneven spots that at first were very distracting. It took a good while to get used to the floor, which is a little slick for my taste. The place was pretty busy with birthday parties on a Saturday afternoon. There were skaters lined up outside for the 7 pm session when we left. The bathrooms were clean enough although a little old. All in all, it was a fine rink. My biggest complaint is that the actual skating floor is probably the smallest I've seen. This made it seem really crowded. Also, it means you only skate for about 4 seconds before you're turning left again. This makes practicing some moves kinda difficult. This rink had the largest skate shop I've seen. They seemed to have a lot of skates and accessories in stock. There's also a bounce house and a pretty sizable arcade for a roller skating rink. It's the largest arcade I've seen in a local rink. There are more than enough lockers at 50 cents each. Ample vending machines and the snack bar was VERY clean in appearance and well staffed. The entire rink was one of the cleanest we've seen overall. It seems like the place is well cared for. This is a family owned business from what we read while visiting. Overall, I would visit this rink more often if the skating rink were larger, but I realize that's unlikely to change. I would go back again, but it's unlikely to be my first choice. I will say when we left at almost 7 pm there was now an armed security officer posted at the door with a gun. Now I don't think I need to skate somewhere that requires an armed guard for my safety? Alright I just want to make a quick little review for Roller Cave. Roller Cave sucks! Today was my daughter's birthday , her eighth birthday by the way. The first thing the staff did was deny me and my daughter of bringing presents into the facility because we did not buy a birthday. package which by the way is $400. They made us take our presents and our balloons back to the car and they took the cake from us and decided to put it in their freezer. I don't know why they did that because it's not an ice cream cake it's a regular cake. I understand them not letting us bring the balloons in but to not let her bring her presents in , that just takes to joy out of her birthday. So now we're just skating all the presents are in the car the cake is in their freezer they said we can have it when we're ready to leave. Thanks Roller Cave! For an old fashioned fun time at the roller rink, The Roller Cave is the place to go. I have experienced this as open skate, birthday party, and school event and it has always been a pleasurable experience. Their rental skates are in good condition and I love that they allow you to bring in your own skates or blades. The theme is fun, the staff is courteous while still maintaining control (kids on wheels can easily get out of control.) The skating area is smaller than the rink that I grew up with, but it is in great condition. I recommend this venue if you are looking for a fun family activity. read more

Their open skate is earlier in the day than other options one of the few on the east side. It was $7 each (we brought our own skates), plus $.75 for a locker. The line for skate rental was long (we had to wait in it to pick up our trainer), but they kept it moving. The rink is a little small, but the floor is in pretty good shape and has a nice carpeted curb on three sides. They offer skate trainers for $5, which helped my kindergartener get the hang of her new wheels safely before pushing it aside and taking off on her own. The music was fun and they did not play anything inappropriate. The kangaroo costume looks a little tired, but my daughter absolutely loved to see him skate and do tricks and was disappointed when he left the floor after the birthday party activities were over. She's still talking about almost catching him! Staff seemed very young, but kept an eye out for fallen kiddos and generally seemed engaged. Yes, it's dated and a bit worn, but the floor is in good condition and my daughter and I had a blast. We did not try the games, bathroom or the snack bar, so I can't comment on those aspects of the business. read more

The Roller Cave is a very family friendly roller skating or roller blading rink for adults and kids of all ages. They have a big roller skating rink with a disco dance floor in the middle. Loud music plays as you are skating, which is pretty fun. It may become too loud if you want to talk to someone for a long time, but other than that, it isn't a real bother. They also have some average "arcade/bowling arena" type food, including nachos, hot dogs, and candy. I would honestly just come here for the skating though. Just a slight warning: if your kid is scared of dressed up people in costumes (like Mickey or Minnie from Disney World) I would recommend going somewhere else. Every hour or two, this character named Roller Roo comes out and skates with the kids. He is just a dressed up Kangaroo who skates in the rink for about 15 minutes to a half hour. This rink also has a very cute theme, which is dancing disco/cavemen. I would say go if you want some good and fun exercise to get your body moving. read more
