We stayed two nights and it was a pleasure. Our room was clean( as I always bring Lysol and wipes) wipes were cleaned. Quite area, the casino was clean and the good at the casino bar was very tasty. Serve was good The only thing I found annoying is even though we were guest, every time we went to the casino we had to show ID I did not understand that as they already have keyless rooms. I would think that my room card should be enough, but No. That is crazy, we constantly had to go in our bags or pockets to show our drivers license. Come on The Rose, that's very annoying as a guest. Unfortunately, I've been coming here way too often. While I have won about three times, nothing to brag home about. The security staff are friendly and helpful. Be prepared to hand your ID when entering. I find this odd and annoying as have others who have complained about it. The Pros: Friendly security staff, bartenders (although a bit slow sometimes to make eye contact) Free EV charging Free entertainment e.g. live bands/DJs No additional charge to watch live PPV events (just get there early if you want to sit) The Cons: You can no longer purchase a drink at the lobby/food hall and bring it back into the gaming area. This changed when an incident occurred with hotel guests taking alcohol past security. You have to show your ID to get back into the gaming area if you decide to purchase food/drinks at the lobby/food hall. Crabtastic, avoid this place do not waste your time, even the employees state that the food is terrible. It is a smaller casino but very interesting. Many of the slot games were new to us. Nonetheless, We enjoyed. Staff was very friendly. I had my usual Micelob ultra and wifey had a pink Moscato. I call BS on the Roses new policy with the floor waiters and waitresses, now we have to wait even longer to get a soda. I might as well bar to the bar instead and get a fountain drink but then I'd lose my seat. If management thinks that your staff is stealing drinks or money from you, then have someone tail em. And if they do, fire them, god knows you all aren't having any issues taking our money. We might as well all go to MGM. Management needs to fix this problem soon. This is crap!!! read more

First let me say The Rose Gaming Resort is lacking in customer service. I want to highlight Ms. Kimberly at front desk she was courteous , knowledgeable and warm. Every hotel needs to have her at the front desk. The room was clean and the beds slept wonderfully not too hard not too soft. Large bathroom. The lows would be the food at the resort. I don't know if kitchens were down but some food came out hot some cold , and for the price there was just more of an expectation. The Roses Gaming Resort is easy to see from the beltway and a little tricky to get to. It felt like driving to the top of a mountain. Once there we found lots of available parking in the garage. I am here during the day on a Monday. My group had lunch in the Playbook sports bar and grill. They apparently are short staffed and it took quite some time for our order to be taken and it took even longer to receive our food. The pricing is typical for bar food. I ordered flatbread supreme pizza. The portion size was generous and it was good. Others in my group ordered the St Louis Rib dinner, wings, and the fried whiting sandwich lunch special. Ok I've seen enough. If you're accustomed to the original casino style establishments then you may want to come to the Rose with lower expectations. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that Virginia is finally starting to open up the doors for gambling. We were definitely falling behind in the battle for entertainment. The rose is good for a quick date night to just people watch and play a couple of "gaming machines". Im still a little confused on the type of machines the Rose has since they go based off of old horse races and not RNG. The proximity of the games can seem a table claustrophobic when maneuvering around. The onone plus is that they boast TONS of the new games, something MGM lacks. Parking is not an issue as there are plenty of spaces and levels to park your car. They have security, but I didn't see them too ofoften outside of the entrances. There's a serious lack of care by the hotel staff. Recently got a room. There was a problem with the air-conditioning was making a very loud noise. Went down to talk to the front desk. They sent somebody up for maintenance who didn't bring his tools, then left, a half an hour later I went down to the front desk and asked for a different room because it was so loud. I got a shrug of the shoulders and was told sorry no other rooms. I went back up into my room for another 10 minutes and then decided to pack my bags and leave it and find another place to stay. Use the kiosk to enroll/print new cards if you rather not wait in the cashier line. Just need your license and email address. For typical table gamblers...there are NOT any table games, nor are there virtual Roulette, Poker or BlackJack machines. Slots only. Again, no virtual (table) games right now (soft opening). For the neat drinkers.... this Churchill Downs racino is NOT allowed to serve you a neat beverage. Your drink will be served with ice. If you ask for a double cocktail, it will be served in 2 separate cups. A 12oz filet inside Prime Cuts is $90. Steaks at The Playbook bar are subpar. Ive seen several rejected. It bills itself as a 24-hour resort. There are few amenities that would make me call it a resort. The only thing open 24 hours is the slot machine area. 10:30 am on a weekend, no restaurants are open. When the restaurants ARE open, you can't order at the restaurant, you have to go elsewhere to order. After paying a TIP for service, they simply yell at you to come get your food. They promise a free breakfast, but it's a plastic packaged muffin and a bottle of Apple juice hanging on your door. They claim to have a casino, but they have no tables. Only video slots. Couldn't find the front of the hotel. Followed signs and ended up walking down 6 flights of stairs (no obvious elevator) to find the lobby. The room was clean and spacious, but the only view from ANY of the hotel rooms is the I-95 corridor with the Dumfries Road cloverleaf. If you like paying premium prices to look at the interstate and get yelled at to get a to-go box of food from a "restaurant," come here. If you want a resort atmosphere, don't bother... there are much nicer properties in Woodbridge for less. read more

I recently stayed at the Rose Casino Hotel in Dumfries, VA, and I want to recognize several individuals who truly went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. To start, our initial room had been straightened but was not properly cleaned. When we brought this to the attention of Robbie at the front desk, he was extremely professional and apologetic. She immediately addressed the issue and moved us to another room without hesitation, which we greatly appreciated. The next morning, I stopped by the front desk and was assisted by Ashley, along with the front desk supervisor Marrissa. Both were incredibly helpful and took the time to ensure our concerns were fully resolved. While we were having breakfast in the food court, Ashley even came over to personally inform me that the hotel manager, Meaghan, was available at the desk. After speaking with Meaghan, it was clear that she is dedicated to providing top-tier customer service. She went above and beyond to make sure we were completely taken care of, and her professionalism truly stood out. Because of the outstanding efforts of Robbie, Ashley, Marrissa, and Meaghan, we will definitely be staying here again. Unfortunately the security shift supervisor Jeanine Walker has ruined the Rose experience for me. Her inappropriate actions towards me I felt unsafe staying there. It's preposterous that she called the police twice when she in fact was the one badgering others, ie me and my guests and tremendously lacked resolution skills. She laughed when the police officer Lewis yelled at me for smoking outside , wanting my freedom to be taken away because something annoyed her is not a joking matter. There was no arrest made, there was no need for her to call. I called the police along with her the second time and stayed on the phone with dispatch for my safety. After Jeanine Walkers "the security shift supervisor" despicable harassment towards me, I no longer feel safe to patron this establishment. She's a bully and to hold the position she has having power trips at 4am is very dangerous. Ms Edith hotel staff amazing, Roby hotel staff awesome, Marissa hotel staff fantastic they made me feel welcomed every time I came there and Lian I cannot forget she's top tier and Mikel he's a gem! Additionally after reading further reviews I'm relieved it isn't just me recognizing the rapid decline. I will not be returning, I will make my experience on 9/10/25 known to everyone that it's just not worth going. I entertain guests all the time and the level of disrespect my guests and I received, it's unbelievable! Changes to security protocols and procedures needs to be addressed before it turns into a lawsuit. I've driven past this casino and saw it from the highway and eventually decided to try it! It is all slots. They have a huge amount of slots to choose from. This is owned by the Kentucky Derby company too so there were horse races on TV in addition to other sports. It was fun and I signed up for the player card. I'd love to return. read more

The road leading to the casino from the main road is very long and uphill. This is because the casino is built on a "former dumping ground". They have an attached parking garage as well as EV chargers for electric vehicles. They have visible security as well. Upon entering. You're greeted and must pass through body scanners. **SEE PICS** ,If you're carrying a backpack or anything. It must be searched before entering. Not a very good first impression. Even Atlantic City doesn't do this. If trying to take pictures or videos. Security INSTANTLY says NO PHOTOS OR VIDEOS INSIDE. The reasoning security gave was "the people in Dumfries, VA" wish to remain anonymous. After notifying security. "This is Dumfries, VA" and almost laughing while saying it. I just said OK. There are walls and walls of machines. Mostly all of them are entirely SERVER-BASED. Which unlike the "classic" machines. Server-based machines can be controlled REMOTELY. Settings and other parameters can be changed remotely. The ventilation inside is not bad. There's a good amount of fresh free flowing air inside. The A/C Could've been better due to the large amount of people at the grand opening. The general area is clean. But unlike Atlantic City where the employees are wiping down the free machines not in-use. Here. No machines are being wiped down to prevent germs from spreading due to the large amount of use. Which is a major negative in terms of "cleanliness". The bathrooms are stocked with RETAIL LEVEL NON-COMMERCIAL & NON-TAMPER PROOF SOAP bottles "SEE PICS" which is even worse due to everyone after using the bathroom is touching the SAME PUMP on the bottle BEFORE sanitizing their hands. The payout on the machines are hard to really comment on DUE TO THE FACT. Rose is presumed NOT CLASSIFIED as a "Casino" but as a "Gaming Resort". Unsure if "certain" gaming regulations even apply to this place due to the naming terminology". The food area is "technically" outside of the gaming area. Which means if you go to the food area. You must go through security again. It's still inside but outside of the gaming area. There's different food places to get food but pricing however is heavily inflated due to the inside of a "gaming resort" factor. The "gaming resort" leaves something to be desired. Two MAJOR DOWNFALLS: The first one is the "advertising terminology" utilized inside of their promotions on their website and TV ads. On their promotional materials. They say "For new and returning members" you get a GUARANTEED $125 in free play then THEY END THE SENTENCE WITH A PERIOD INSTEAD OF A ASTERISK which would indicate additional "fine print" is applicable to this sentence. Inside of their second paragraph they say "Current Rosie's Rewards Club Members and new members who enroll at The Rose have 5 opportunities to win up to $500 in Free Play. Plus, the rewards only get bigger the more trips you make to The Rose." This technically contradicts the previous wording because the sentence has already ENDED with the period as well as they say "PLUS THE REWARDS ONLY GET BIGGER" the more trips you make. The "PARTIAL payout" of the $125 gets bigger INCREMENTALLY but it's still within the minimum payout of the same outcome as well as there's NO END DEFINED which means even after you collected the minimum payouts leading to $125 , The promotion is saying the rewards should keep getting bigger and bigger the more trips you make. Sounds almost "infinite" lol. , BUT INFACT THE PROMOTION ENDS HERE. The wording would suggest "Infinite" ,lol. The last part then says with a ASTERISK IN THE BEGINNING saying "*Visit us 5 times within 28 days of enrollment and receive a guaranteed $125 in Free Play." Now since the ASTERISK is only on this sentence as well as in the beginning. It's almost equivalent to saying an entirely new part of a promotion because of the wording. "A GUARANTEED" instead of referring to the same existing promotion above. Asterisk usually implies "fine print" but this entire promotion is worded VERY BADLY.... A Consumer would think they're getting $125 on their first visit. But IN REALITY. They're not. This was verified due to the fact after leaving the "gaming resort" and sitting in traffic. You could hear car after car after car with their windows down due to the hot weather arguing very loudly over the "Promotion terminology". The 2nd downfall is: The CLASSIFICATION of this "gaming resort" and if it's even applicable to gaming regulations such as MINIMUM PAYOUT REQUIREMENTS like REAL CASINOS ARE. Just like their other 'gaming' resorts under the same property their win rate is low. Lack of nearby competition is the reason they can get away with it. Half of the slots here nobody plays. Everyone mainly plays firelinks or some version of fill the pot games so when it's crowded you can forget about getting a decent machine. I would recommend driving down further to a real casino not these horse racing slots that have low return rates. read more

We had a great overnight stay on a Wednesday. We had the deluxe King, which is a couple hundred feet bigger than the regular king. It is very noticeable in the bathroom and in the room itself. The bed was very comfortable, it's very well furnished, I love all the wallpaper And tile. And all the leather accents. You get a free breakfast delivered in the morning at 6 AM to your door, which is a muffin an apple and a juice. It comes in a cute little bag that you can keep. highly recommend and we will be back! read more

I've been debating whether to write this, because honestly, I can't believe customers are still being treated this way. I visited Playbook last Wednesday for Latin Night. Let me start with the positive: the band was AMAZING. The live music was the highlight of the entire night, and if I thought I wouldn't walk away disappointed again, I'd return just for them. Now for the part that truly needs attention. Our server, Ethiopia, took 25 minutes to bring our very first drink order. My party and I were patient--we know people are overworked and short-staffed these days. Still, she never once checked in or updated us. We had to request water for my husband three separate times. Because we were enjoying the band, we ordered another round. That second order took 35 minutes and 42 seconds to arrive. During that wait, another server--who was not our own--ended up helping us more than Ethiopia did. When it was time to cash out, Ethiopia brought a check that included an extra drink we hadn't ordered. She said she'd remove it, so I asked to speak with a manager. Sixteen minutes passed before she returned--still without the corrected check, still without a manager--yet she was ready to take my cash. When I told her again that I needed a receipt and the manager, her response was, "Well, I don't know, I told her." At that point, the attitude and lack of accountability were too much. I did tell her how rude she had been, she snapped back, and then she walked off. I finally spoke with a supervisor who informed us it was her first day, and eventually the manager came out. I repeated everything that had happened and expressed how unacceptable our experience with the server was. The manager offered a food voucher--which we neither wanted nor accepted. All we asked was that Ms. Ethiopia receive the training she clearly needs. It's unfortunate, because this place has so much potential. But at this rate, the frustration simply isn't worth it. I would never treat someone this way at my workplace, and customers shouldn't have to tolerate it here either. read more

The place does have free water now, that is the only good news I have. Went back to check and see if things had improved, I must say they have not. The games are still set to pay minimum when they do payout, several games have been removed and others are set so you can not stop the complete spins (as you can in a normal casino), the key point here is that this place is designed to take your funds, which all casino will do, but this stop is not worth it, you have very very bad odds here. As one review mentions is there any regulation on a gaming facility. I hope the community is seeing some of the income from this "caper". I recommend you find another spot, and if this is your first experience with a gambling establishment try another real casino and you will understand. read more

The hotel was very clean because it is new. For them most part staff were nice, but not professional always. The room was nice except the ceiling was cement. The furniture was too low, sleeping a soft mattress on the floor bed leaving me hurting more than I was. It was a struggle all weekend. Host did not value me enough to come and say hello in person. Received some misinformation from the host. The food was horrible, and all the food service people need sanitation and food handling class. I had ribs that were not done and tough, then they fixed again, still issues. The breakfast selection was slim, but what I got the first day was a thick microwave tasing biscuit, clearly not fresh. The sausage had no flavor. I was in the line trying to get some and this woman who had food in hand and mouth said she worked there and could help me. How do you eat and help customers? In what world is that ok? Today I ordered toast with sausage egg, again horrible. Potatoes were supposed to come with them, but I got an assortment of peppers and onions, very few potatoes. It took an act of congress to get milk for my coffee. One of the chefs came through for me after 2 days of asking. You just cannot make this stuff up. I went to nearby restaurants twice for meals and another time for coffee. The casino is a joke. If you don't use your card, you can win something. I witnessed it multiple times. I feel retarded because I knew this, yet I went and stayed. Never again. I asked the host on duty last night to take me off the promotional list she decided to take me off all locations. At the very least she should have asked for clarity. I did not ask her to do that. This place operates at a level of incompetence I have never seen. Listen, I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but I felt compelled to write one due to the poor customer service at the Rose Gaming Resort play book Bar and Grill. When I tell you the drinks were horrible, baby they were. No smiles, no acknowledgment... the bar tenders were literally avoiding eye contact with the patrons, they couldn't be bothered to take food and drinks orders. When they did, you got extra attitude sprinkled on top... This is March 29th and they still have signs for karaoke night scheduled on February 18th... wow!! Zero attention to details. Well I went once and from going to the other Roses game venues I knew what to expect. This one I thought would be better since it's new and improved. Large building. But the air ventilation was bad when I came - hot and crowded. The lines at the reward desk took forever- very slow. The place was so loud. Casinos aren't that loud- well my opinion. It wasn't enough around the casino to draw me in and want to stay. Needs development in and outside the property. I went to Dumfries once and I didn't feel it enough to drive again.
