Wings from the sports bar , cold and not very crispy

First let me say The Rose Gaming Resort is lacking in customer service. I want to highlight Ms. Kimberly at front desk she was courteous , knowledgeable and warm. Every hotel needs to have her at the front desk. The room was clean and the beds slept wonderfully not too hard not too soft. Large bathroom. The lows would be the food at the resort. I don't know if kitchens were down but some food came out hot some cold , and for the price there was just more of an expectation. The best bite though came from the corner store their strawberry short cake makes you believe in magic. I would have included a photo but I ate that way too quickly lol

Traffic getting to this casino was busy on a Sunday. Arriving & parking there were easy despite the traffic. Service was good. The casino games were so so. We liked the options at the food court and the games provided.

The Roses Gaming Resort is easy to see from the beltway and a little tricky to get to. It felt like driving to the top of a mountain. Once there we found lots of available parking in the garage. I am here during the day on a Monday. My group had lunch in the Playbook sports bar and grill. They apparently are short staffed and it took quite some time for our order to be taken and it took even longer to receive our food. The pricing is typical for bar food. I ordered flatbread supreme pizza. The portion size was generous and it was good. Others in my group ordered the St Louis Rib dinner, wings, and the fried whiting sandwich lunch special. We all registered for Rose game cards and played a few slot machines before heading home. I am not a gambler so this was a okay experience for me.

    Slots slots and more slots!

Ok I've seen enough. If you're accustomed to the original casino style establishments then you may want to come to the Rose with lower expectations. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that Virginia is finally starting to open up the doors for gambling. We were definitely falling behind in the battle for entertainment. The rose is good for a quick date night to just people watch and play a couple of "gaming machines". Im still a little confused on the type of machines the Rose has since they go based off of old horse races and not RNG. The proximity of the games can seem a table claustrophobic when maneuvering around. The onone plus is that they boast TONS of the new games, something MGM lacks. Parking is not an issue as there are plenty of spaces and levels to park your car. They have security, but I didn't see them too ofoften outside of the entrances. Ill have to come back to try the food, but from what I saw others around me have...I'll let them work the kinks out.

From garage - no signage. Where do you go?

First, this IS The Rose. Correct address is 17680 Colonial street (off Rt 1). Parking is free. **Grand opening is Thurs. Nov 7th If you park on Level 2 (or higher) in the garage, take the elevators DOWN, to level 1. (Elevators currently do not have any signage as to which floor to get off). Use the kiosk to enroll/print new cards if you rather not wait in the cashier line. Just need your license and email address. For typical table gamblers...there are NOT any table games, nor are there virtual Roulette, Poker or BlackJack machines. Slots only. Again, no virtual (table) games right now (soft opening). For the neat drinkers.... this Churchill Downs racino is NOT allowed to serve you a neat beverage. Your drink will be served with ice. If you ask for a double cocktail, it will be served in 2 separate cups. A 12oz filet inside Prime Cuts is $90. Steaks at The Playbook bar are subpar. Ive seen several rejected. The $3 tacos were eh, okay. Some liquors are dispensed into your glass from a gun. Live entertainment (DJs/band) music is so loud, you cannot hear the person or bartender. They do have the NFL Sunday ticket.

The area that's supposed to be restaurants, empty except for a bartender at 1 pm on a Saturday afternoon.

It bills itself as a 24-hour resort. There are few amenities that would make me call it a resort. The only thing open 24 hours is the slot machine area. 10:30 am on a weekend, no restaurants are open. When the restaurants ARE open, you can't order at the restaurant, you have to go elsewhere to order. After paying a TIP for service, they simply yell at you to come get your food. They promise a free breakfast, but it's a plastic packaged muffin and a bottle of Apple juice hanging on your door. They claim to have a casino, but they have no tables. Only video slots. Couldn't find the front of the hotel. Followed signs and ended up walking down 6 flights of stairs (no obvious elevator) to find the lobby. The room was clean and spacious, but the only view from ANY of the hotel rooms is the I-95 corridor with the Dumfries Road cloverleaf. If you like paying premium prices to look at the interstate and get yelled at to get a to-go box of food from a "restaurant," come here. If you want a resort atmosphere, don't bother... there are much nicer properties in Woodbridge for less.

The police talking to the bully (the security supervisor)
    Christine R.

Unfortunately the security shift supervisor Jeanine Walker has ruined the Rose experience for me. Her inappropriate actions towards me I felt unsafe staying there. It's preposterous that she called the police twice when she in fact was the one badgering others, ie me and my guests and tremendously lacked resolution skills. She laughed when the police officer Lewis yelled at me for smoking outside , wanting my freedom to be taken away because something annoyed her is not a joking matter. There was no arrest made, there was no need for her to call. I called the police along with her the second time and stayed on the phone with dispatch for my safety. After Jeanine Walkers "the security shift supervisor" despicable harassment towards me, I no longer feel safe to patron this establishment. She's a bully and to hold the position she has having power trips at 4am is very dangerous. Ms Edith hotel staff amazing, Roby hotel staff awesome, Marissa hotel staff fantastic they made me feel welcomed every time I came there and Lian I cannot forget she's top tier and Mikel he's a gem! Additionally after reading further reviews I'm relieved it isn't just me recognizing the rapid decline. I will not be returning, I will make my experience on 9/10/25 known to everyone that it's just not worth going. I entertain guests all the time and the level of disrespect my guests and I received, it's unbelievable! Changes to security protocols and procedures needs to be addressed before it turns into a lawsuit. Insisting the police arrest me because I'm outside smoking a cigarette whenever I want at a non smoking room/hotel is diabolical.

Great food, great service, great ambiance at the 1609 Restaurant on the casino floor. Great choice for high-end dining in North Stafford.

The "gaming arcade" NON-CASINO is located in the middle of a retail shopping center. Parking is shared with other stores in the shopping center. There is a Rosie's security vehicle going around the parking lot to deter crime which is a plus. The promotions here are very poor. No comps nor Tier matching. But technically they aren't a "full casino" according to employees so it's kinda expected. They do have a free slot play promotion which you can win anywhere from 20 to 1k in free slot play for new players. But mostly everyone I seen and even myself only got 20 in free slot play **SEE PICS** The jackpot board is somewhat depressing since witnessing a ton of players here playing usually over five bucks a spin on the machines and the jackpot board **SEE PICS** is displaying major winners of jackpots totaling 1k to 4k. They have penny machines up to somewhat high limit machines. All the machines are what's called server based machines which means they're all modern and not the mechanical reels which is somewhat questionable because with the mechanical machines you usually have to be "physically present" to adjust "win ratios" but with server based it can somewhat be done remotely. So the house has the advantage here technically somewhat. They have a OTB for horse racing and everything. It has a couple of live streams and a dedicated area for the OTB seating as well. They have drink girls to provide drinks while playing at the machines. Since the overall environment is not that big. The drink girls are very attentive in keeping everyone hydrated which is a plus. They have a food place in the arcade for food as well as drinks too. The ventilation however inside of the arcade could be better. Heavy smell of second hand smoke. Unsure if they're properly utilizing "GOOD" air filtration systems here. Also there is hand sanitizer stations throughout the arcade but sadly most of them were empty upon trying most of them. The employees were friendly and social which is a plus. Also there are NO TABLE GAMES at this "gaming arcade". Overall. This is my first and probably last time at this "gaming arcade" location until they open the full casino later this year. The main factor to that is. After leaving. You could actually overhear some people sounding sad in the parking lot due to the low win ratios. Even getting food at the McDonald's in the same parking lot as the arcade. You could overhear people saying "Why did we come here" & "I almost won" while eating. Truly depressing for a gaming environment.

I've spent several nights there, brought friends, tipped generously, and always felt like a valued guest--until one night shattered all of that. After winning a small jackpot, I inserted a $100 bill that was rejected by a machine. I offered to take it to the cashier myself, but the attendant insisted on handling it. I didn't argue--I trusted the process. But what happened next was something I'll never forget. I was surrounded by security, questioned publicly, and handcuffed in front of everyone like a criminal. I wasn't drunk, I wasn't angry--I was calm, respectful, and compliant. I tried to show them my medication list on my phone and explained that I have PTSD. They didn't listen. The arrest triggered a severe panic attack. I was denied my medication and ended up in the VA emergency room--admitted as a mental health inpatient, on IV medication, just to calm down. The magistrate dismissed the charges immediately. Even so, I was banned from Rose. I've reached out to management and corporate multiple times to ask for video footage and a conversation. I've been met with silence. I'm sharing this because no one--especially a disabled veteran--should be treated like this. I don't want revenge. I want awareness, accountability, and for this never to happen to someone else.

Occasionally they have a grill and cook up some burgers and dogs. People are really friendly there and it's easy to meet new friends and have your kids play with their peers. The one issue is that the hours the snack bar is open are inconsistent. The pool itself is nice and big. The club is a bit old school, but it does create a nice homey atmosphere. The food is very good, I haven't been disappointed by anything I've had there. I like their potstickers in particular. The staff is also nice and accommodating. I wish they had a wider selection of alcohol and beer (it's pretty limited - seriously, Blue Moon is one of the top options!), but they've been introducing seasonal cocktails that are pretty fun. Hopefully they will continue to expand the size of the menu and the offerings at the bar.

The fairways also were super narrow with dense forests so if you didn't hit perfectly straight you'd lose your ball. The range wasn't anything nice and the clubhouse store was lacking organization. After our round we went inside to the restaurant/bar but they had 1 girl working all tables and bar. She said she'd be right with us but 10min later still not even a water. We ended up leaving after 3 guys walked in after us, sat near us at the bar, and she took their drink orders and brought food before we got anything or asked anything. Overall bad experience especially for the price.
