I realize that's not a knock on the space itself but a note to others planning large events here. The setting was in a relaxed suburban neighborhood, and it definitely helped to have GPS to find this place.

We had many requests and requirements for the reception, and she went out of her way to accommodate our needs and wants. She recommended excellent vendors who also went above and beyond for dietary restrictions. The location of Hollin Hall is also nice, and close to 495, but you wouldn't know it. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood with beautiful grounds, it feels secluded and has beautiful gardens to wander. We were married in March and even though there were no leaves or flowers blooming it was a pretty backdrop for all our photos. I would definitely recommend Hollin Hall to anyone looking for a DC area wedding venue!

The ceremony and cocktail hour were held on the first floor and the reception was upstairs (and yes, there are elevators). The strawberry salad was tasty, but maybe a bit too much dressing. The mashed potatoes were very garlicky with the perfect texture (not too smooth, but not too chunky). The steamed vegetables (broccoli and carrots) were seasoned enough to be enjoyable on its own and with the protein. There were three protein options: chicken, salmon, and steak. The chicken had a creamy sauce with a red pepper topping that I didn't love. The salmon was seasoned generously, but it was a bit overcooked. The steak was seared quite nicely, cooked medium, and it was my favorite of all three proteins. Overall, the food was good for a wedding venue. This was a great venue to have a wedding! We all had a great time at Sweeney Barn to celebrate our friends getting married.

If we had younger children, this is the way to go. They have other games (video and air hockey etc.) to be entertained with while you wait and in between missions for a slight break. Starting out with Shadae Mayfield at the office who helped me plan everything. The food... you know how hard it is to have a good dinner for that many people, right? Rudy, the Chef at our boat was amazing, the food was so good. We had appetizers as people were boarding, the wait staff was so friendly, smiling, attentive, making sure everyone was being taken care of. Appetizers I picked were great, dinner after was amazing (I keep using that word but it was! meat, chicken, pasta, salad, salmon and desserts). The bartenders were on it too, from the minute people were boarding, they had trays with already served wine! what!!! yes. I had a full bar option for my event and OMG, so good. DJ Bob, crazy good. I told him in advance what we wanted, about my group, that we wanted to dance, etc. He got it! We danced the whole time. I literally had to ask people to leave the boat at the end of the event.
